Managerial Information
"Though you may know me, who I am is ultimately irrelevant. All you need to know is that I have the resources to make your life in this League a living hell… or a resplendent heaven."

Position: Chief Financial Officer - As CFO of LAW, Tobiko's "formal" powers are limited to those of an actual real-world CFO. Namely, she has the final say (save for that of LAW CEO/COO Dan DeFranco) over all of LAW's finances. This includes interfacing with domestic and foreign investors; managing the company's investments in land, facility ownership, other organizations, and internal operations; approving the financial side of all major LAW projects; and overseeing LAW's budget.

Style: Profiteering Schemer - Put uncharitably, Tobiko is an unscrupulous, greedy, money grubbing CFO. Dan DeFranco tends to be rather hands-off in his leadership of LAW, but to whatever extent that he is personally disconcerted by certain actions in his promotion, Tobiko is always there to either assuage his fears or to ensure that such issues never need to come across his desk in the first place.

In this sense, she is the willing devil on the C-Suite's shoulders. But make no mistake – this is not out of any desire to protect her fellow executives' morals. In fact, she would rather all these things happen, simply because they stand to make LAW more money. After all, wrestling can be found anywhere, but sex sells, violence sells, and controversy sells. And Tobiko is willing to do whatever it takes to sell.

In particular, Tobiko's influence over LAW's budget grants her a lot of "soft power" within the organization. She has no formal powers in the actual operation of LAW, and she's not even all that interested in 99% of the daily goings-on in the promotion. But as anyone who's worked for a large business knows, departments and projects are always jockeying for more funding. Because of this, Tobiko enjoys a number of hooks in departments across LAW.

And when all else fails, bonuses are always under her purview…

Strengths: Tobiko has made a career out of her high-level business acumen, general intellect, and emotional awareness. Her greatest strength, however, is her ability to understand what makes others tick and what they want in a given situation. Combined with the vast leverage of her portfolio as CFO, this allows Tobiko to minimize her losses and maximize her gains in any negotiation.

Weaknesses: Unlike many who work for LAW, Tobiko has no real interest in wrestling at all, much less any personal experience in the sport. She's only been in the business for five years. Most of the time, this doesn't become an issue, as she is a fast learner, and Finance is the department that deals the least with wrestling itself. In fact, this has occasionally led Tobiko to the sorts of unique business insights that only an outsider can have. But it can also lead to occasional blind spots when it comes to the culture of wrestling.

This also means that, like many pro wrestling staffers, she has no real defense against physical violence.

Biographical Information
“To the Tadashi family, LAW is just another notch on the belt. But in the grand scheme of sports history, it will be a canyonesque gouge.”

Personality: Tobiko knows how to play the social game, as would be required of a major business leader in her position. To most, she is perfectly amicable, if often strictly businesslike in personal engagements and always endlessly aggressive in negotiations. That being said, it is in that latter arena – that of business – where the true brunt of her plotting nature and devious genius come to the fore. She is extremely willing to be as cutthroat as is necessary to come out on top, changing entire livelihoods with the stroke of a pen. Tobiko has no interest in anyone who can't help her get what she wants, and in this case, what she wants is bigger profit margins and viewership numbers for LAW. Anything in the promotion that happens or needs to happen to advance that is something she is adamantly in favor of.

Above all, however, Tobiko is a dedicated steward and leader of the Tadashi family. She takes great pride in being part of such a storied lineage of entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders and will accept nothing that belittles that history. Most of all, she desires for her son, Ryotaro, to grow into his role as the next head of the family.

Biography: Tobiko Tadashi is the ascendant head of the Tadashi family, who are the longtime owners of a global business conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The Tadashi family owns subsidiaries around the world, in industries from electronics to polymers to pharmaceuticals. Each one brings in billions of dollars of revenue each year. But Tobiko couldn't simply rest on her family's laurels and grow the enterprises that they already owned.

This is because of the Tadashi family's traditional coming of age ritual for new family heads: The ascendant Tadashi must find a new industry for their family to break into. By succeeding in this endeavor, they not only grow the Tadashi family empire, but they prove themselves worthy of their name.

It took Tobiko longer than she would have liked to find something that intrigued her, but eventually, one came along. Five years ago, she heard rumors of a unique opportunity in the form of an American poking around Japan's business elite. The man was seeking investors for -- of all things -- a new wrestling promotion featuring primarily female talent. Word on the street was that he was having a bit of a rough time finding partners.

Never one to fully turn her back on a possible avenue for continued business domination, Tobiko conducted some market research and was confused by what she found. Pro wrestling had continually grown as a share of the combat sports market for the past few decades, and the introduction of more creative match types had only seemed to accelerate its upward trend. More than that, based on what she'd heard of the man's business plan, he seemed to have good enough ideas. So why was nobody biting? All it was, she concluded, was that the American simply didn't have the necessary connections to get going… connections that Tobiko herself had, and was more than happy to provide.

So Tobiko Tadashi arranged a meeting with Dan DeFranco, and the rest was history.

Throughout LAW's meteoric rise, it has become increasingly evident that Tobiko truly outmaneuvered her rivals by getting in on the ground floor. Now, she sits in the C-Suite of one of sports' most astonishing success stories.

Fun Facts:
  • The Tadashi family is large, with many branches who head the conglomerate's various subsidiaries. Tobiko herself grew up learning the ropes in the wine trade.
  • Despite growing up being waited on hand and foot, Tobiko is quite the able chef, partially because of the desire she held in her youth to dote on Ryotaro.
  • Tobiko prefers biking to driving, taking the bus, or being chauffeured around.
