LAW Apex Match: Doctor Fabulous vs. Vera Sapphire

Doctor Fabulous held on tight to that leg in this pin. She had to keep a hold of it, no matter what. The tenseness surging through her shoulders didn't help, but she had to deal. She had to keep her more powerful opponent down and keep her down. She failed the immediate pin, but this one needed to work. She kept her eyes closed during the duration, just listening to the referee's count.

One.

Two.

And she was pushed off of Vera to her knees.

Sitting upright, Doc Fab panted, looking up briefly. She wasn't in disbelief--she knew this was entirely possible. It took too long. Vera was bigger and stronger. All of that put together made the Wrestling Professor keenly aware this made too much sense. It wasn't ideal. She wished that her opponent had just stayed the hell down. She took a few moments to re-evaluate though.

She couldn't pin Vera. There wasn't enough in her to effectively put her down with another high impact move. And if she hesitated for one moment due to the pain, that Russian powerhouse would take advantage and spike her into the mat. It was just not feasible to attempt another high impact move. Fabulous wiped her hands down her face, taking a deep breath. She could only allow herself another moment to mull things over. A new plan of attack--now. No hesitation. Just one breath to get ahold of herself.

One.

Two.

Grabbing hold of Vera's bad leg, the Good Doctor used it to spin her opponent towards her, staggering to her feet in the process. Fabulous swallowed hard, knowing precisely what she had to do. She didn't have the strength to plant Vera into the mat and stun her enough for a pin. But she had enough strength to tear at that leg until she quit. She just needed the right move. Using her boot, she pushed Sapphire onto her side and then dropped down, wrapping her legs underneath Vera's hurt one. Closing her eyes for just a moment, the Wrestling Professor took another deep breath.

Time to be Fabulous again. Just this time even more Fabulous.

Two.

She used Sapphire's foot as a fulcrum and rolled both of them over. And when both were on their backs, her opponent's leg was bridged over the Doctor's. Fabulous' other foot propped up her own leg to support it. And Vera's foot remained in the technician's grasp. With another deep breath, Doctor Fabulous yanked down hard, wincing at the pressure it put on her neck and shoulders again. She had completed the Calf Slicer, pulling down on the injured leg and placing all the pressure down on Vera's knee.

And Doctor Fabulous wasn't letting go. She was going to keep pulling on that leg until the referee told her that she won. Vera Sapphire had nowhere to go, in the center of the ring, and it didn't matter how much that big girl wanted the win, or how much willpower she had in her, the Wrestling Professor wanted that win too. And it would be Vera risking the health of her career if she decided not to give up now. For the Doctor though, she kept a hold of it. In her mind, it was just a matter of time now. She just needed to wait for Vera Sapphire to finally tap out.

Vera slowly sat up. Her entire body hurt, and especially her leg…but she knew she had to hold on. She knew that, one big move would decide the match. There was no way Fabulous had much left in her…the fact that she couldn’t maintain her bridge just a second ago let Vera know that. The road, however, went both ways. One good move…or a hold for Fabulous to trap Vera in, would spell the end for the blunette’s chances for the Openweight title!

The blunette turned her head to look at the blonde…and realized that she also knew that the match could end with just one move. Both women would stand up to their full heights…

…but Fabulous would be faster, grabbing onto Vera’s hurting leg, to turn Vera to face her!

Vera got her fist ready, trying to punch the blonde in the face…only for Fabulous to swiftly execute her move, pushing Vera onto her side, while wrapping her legs around Vera’s limb, pressing her calf and knee against her shin for a brutal and painful Calf Slicer!

”YAAAAAAH!!! AAAAAAGH! AAAAAAAAAH!!!”

Vera’s mouth felt raw with her screams, with her arm in the air. The pain was immense, not just on her knee, but on her calf muscles…which felt like they were going to rip apart under pressure! Vera wanted to quit…but with tears in her eyes, she knew she couldn’t. Of all the matches in which she could give up, this wasn’t one of them!

So instead, her arm shot backwards. Desperate times needed desperate measures…and with her already being a villain in the Good Doctor’s hometown, this fit.

Vera’s hand shot back, as she tried to grab at her ponytail, strongly pulling on it as she tried to force the blonde to let go off the hold!

Doctor Fabulous had the simplest plan now: never let go. Easy enough. Something feasible, and given the screams of her opponent, it was effective. The Wrestling Professor grit her teeth as she continued to pull on that injured leg of Vera, just waiting for the inevitable. She wanted the submission now. Even as her shoulders and neck hurt, she would pull a win out from it.

Logically, Vera shouldn't be able to hold out much longer. It was a thought she had every few seconds. Doc Fab wasn't thrilled that it was seemingly taking as long as it did. Even as her muscles ached more and more with each passing second, she was determined to not let it deter her.

But then she suddenly felt her hair being pulled. "Ah! Ah! Ah!" cried out Fabulous, keeping a hold of that leg, starting to pull on it even more in response to her pigtail being pulled to the side, her whole body twisting over towards Vera's assaulting arm. She needed to hold on. She couldn't let this dirty maneuver make her give up, although it was very persuasive.

Gnashing her teeth, Doc Fab held on, her hair threatening to be torn out of her head at this point. Shaking her head, she whined out in pain. But then it was too much. She reached up with one hand, grasping for Vera's wrist, trying to get her to release her hair. It was then that the integrity of the move had failed her. She went dropping off to the side, moving both hands to pry at Sapphire's wrist and fingers, trying to get her hair free while the referee was chiding Vera for the unfair move.

Doctor Fabulous couldn't believe that Vera Sapphire had lasted as long as she did. With the amount of damage on her knee, she shouldn't have been able to survive that long. And yet, she had, shocking the crowd and Fabulous as she tried to get her hair free without too much damage, closing her eyes tight.

She wasn't able to get Vera with a big impactful move.

She wasn't able to get Vera with a submission on her injured leg.

The Good Doctor wasn't sure what she could do now. With her body on the brink of complete exhaustion, her options were limited now. Even a submission like that would be hard at this point.

Vera felt awful about pulling on her rival’s hair. Besides finding the Good Doctor cute almost as equally as she found her annoying, she felt like a bully fighting dirty like this…especially with the crowd jeering her for the action, the ref admonishing her and the blonde’s screams…

Eventually, however, Fabulous gave up the hold, latching onto Vera’s wrist instead to try and pry it off her pigtail…with Vera quickly doing just that. Her leg hurt, fearing whether the blonde’s efforts have done long term damage to it!

She didn’t know how long she could keep upright once she stood up…but she knew…she knew that one more attack to the blonde would knock her down, enough for a count of 3!

Vera used her healthy leg to practically leap upwards, while pulling her aching limb up! She tried to aim it straight for Fabulous’s face, trying to take the blonde down with a hard Big Boot in a desperate, last ditch attack!

Doc Fab hissed out in exertion as her hair burned in her scalp--suddenly it overcame the rest of the pain somehow. The soreness, the absolute agony that seeped into almost every part of her body now. The exhaustion that fought to just make her collapse at any moment now. And that damn hair pull was the thing that was her primary focus, taking her right out of what should have been a victorious hold. And she was on her side, letting out a gasp as she was released. The referee had forced it, which gave Doctor Fabulous a break.

It was rare for the Wrestling Professor, but she felt like she was at a loss now. She didn't have a direction. Plans upon plans, all taking her here and all falling short. High impact failed her. Submissions failed her. No matter how well she had played the match to this point, she couldn't get the win. Burying her face in the match, she clenched her fists on the mat. She started to feel frustrated--a feeling she normally didn't have. Doctor Fabulous felt like she didn't have the strength or endurance left to carry on.

And most certainly, Doctor Lilly Becker didn't feel Fabulous right now.

Pushing herself up, she could only watch as Vera Sapphire was forcing herself to her feet as the Good Doctor's face scrunched in pain. She needed to center herself. She needed a plan again. Measure everything. Figure it out. There was an angle she wasn't looking at here. She needed to just come up with the first step, predict the next step from her opponent, and hope this was the time she could take advantage of that. As she began to push herself up, she was looking at Sapphire getting upright, bracing herself. She couldn't let herself stay down. She had to rise.

And she would center herself yet again. She would take another deep breath.

One.

Crack.

The big boot came and Doctor Fabulous reacted, trying to miss it. The foot of Sapphire collided with her shoulder though, and her body went to a kneeling position as she spun. "Awwwwh!" cried out Doc Fab, gritting her teeth. That punished shoulder already in so much more pain now. She let out a whimper, holding her shoulder.

There wasn't time to come up with anything. There was only time to act.

And immediately, she leaped over, grabbing the hurt leg of Vera Sapphire and giving it the hardest yank she could muster. Her shoulder immediately feeling the effects of the sudden action. No time to worry about that now. No time to protect it. She was done with that. She didn't have the time. The Russian powerhouse fell forward flat, and Fabulous had her in prime position for another leg submission. One moment she considered it--No. She didn't have the strength. Not with her shoulder. She considered pulling Vera back up for another big move, for just a moment--No. She wouldn't be able to do anything with impact now.

One more moment.

Doctor Fabulous leaped up on the back of Vera, locking the girl's arm in her leg. The Good Doctor locked that other arm in a hammerlock. She had one final option. There was nothing left if she couldn't do this. She used what remained of her strength to pull her bigger opponent over towards her, rolling Vera up onto her shoulders. "Yaaaaaah!" screamed the Wrestling Professor, muscles bulging from the exertion of it all.

All Doctor Fabulous had left was a pin.

And then she reached up, grabbing hold of Sapphire's injured leg--the same leg she had worked over for the entirety of the match. And she pulled down on it with the last of what her body had left, letting it wrap over her own shoulder. Doc Fabulous had the Seatbelt Pin locked in. Her body needed to last for three seconds. She closed her eyes tight and her every muscle tensed as she held onto Vera Sapphire even tighter.

This was it. It needed to be.

”DAMNIT!”, Vera loudly thought in her head. Her Big Boot wouldn’t quite hit the mark, instead driving itself, at full speed, into the blonde’s shoulder! Between all the Powerbombs that Fabulous took, this move likely worsened an already hurting limb…

Which was also true for Vera:

”GRAAAAAH!!!”, the big blunette cried out in pain as the hit connected, trying to pull her damaged leg back, knowing she would fall the moment she tried to maintain a vertical base…only for Fabulous to grasp her leg and pull harshly on it, causing Vera to fall forward!

Vera yelped as she fell…but breathed easily. Fabulous couldn’t lock in a proper, painful hold now. Not with how badly her shoulder was hurt, Vera believed…

But that didn’t mean she couldn’t win.

Swiftly, Fabulous got to work, trapping both of Vera’s arms, before twisting her onto her shoulders, using the last of her strength to push Vera up into a pin…while grabbing her hurting leg for extra security!

”Mgggh! No! NO!”, Vera protested, trying to pull her arms free…but with Fabulous’s technique, she had no way to push her arms against the canvas, with her only untrapped limb being her leg - kicking at the air.

”ONE!”

“TWO!”

Vera’s eyes opened wide. There was no one last sudden rush of energy…no last ditch trick left in her book. The third count was going to sound in a second.

Vera closed her eyes as she realized that she was not winning tonight’s contest…

Doctor Fabulous turned her whole body as tight as she could with the Seatbelt Pin, folding that leg over her own body to keep Vera Sapphire wrapped entirely around her with that pin. Gnashing her teeth, she let out a whine as she put every last drop of strength into holding onto this. Her shoulder felt absolutely busted at this point, but she kept using that arm to hold Vera's injured leg over. She had to fight through the pain. She had to keep holding on tight and making sure that Vera's shoulders remained on the mat. There was nothing left if she couldn't make it happen. She didn't think there was a path to victory without holding Sapphire down for this three count.

"ONE!"

Muscles were jolting, practically bulging off the bones as Doc Fab tensed as tightly as she could to keep her bigger opponent down.

"TWO!"

Her shoulder was having a sharper pain to it, cutting like a knife being twisted around while she held onto the limb as Sapphire tried to break it free, but she had done well enough breaking down the limb.

"THREE!"

The bell sounded and Fabulous let out a loud gasp as she released the pinfall, letting Vera's body uncurl around her while she remained on her front, burying her face in the mat and whimpering in pain. The release of the intensity she placed on her body in those final moments catching up with her as she just lay there, trembling. Her theme music played while the crowd went wild. Doctor Fabulous had won her Apex Match, pinning Vera Sapphire after their absolutely punishing match up.

The referee checked on both girls as the medical staff followed, first taking a look at Vera's injured leg as the Wrestling Professor rolled away to give her space, holding her hurt shoulder as she let out a haggard groan. She would then slowly lift herself off the mat, sucking in a sharp breath of air while getting to her knees. She looked out at the crowd who was still going wild for her and the intense match at large, nodding repeatedly at them. Doctor Fabulous took it all in from her hometown while the referee went to help her up. At this point, she accepted it without any objection. She deserved the help after this.

Then Fabulous had her arm held up high as she winced. It wasn't her hurt shoulder, but that didn't mean that this shoulder wasn't feeling the pain of the repeated powerbombs during the match so far. Surveying the crowd, she looked legitimately grateful. Extremely happy. She knew friends and family were in the crowd to support her, and she used her hurt arm to place a hand over her heart, mouthing out "Thank you," the sincerity easily seen in her tired eyes.

Doctor Fabulous came into the match and made it work, and she did so in a Fabulous fashion. All of her hard work paid off, and she was the winner in this Apex Match, and now a contender for the Openweight Championship.

And she took a moment to focus, taking a deep breath.

One.

Two.

And her head was clear. She could just enjoy the moment, a big smile on her face. It truly was, in a single word, Fabulous.

DING DING DING!

The third count sounded, and Vera was released from the Good Doctor’s very complex pinfall. She was quickly released, the blunette falling on her back as tears appeared on her face…

…which she tried to quickly wipe away.

”No…no you are not crying…not on camera…not in front of the fans…”

She was frustrated with her loss…but ultimately conceded that Fabulous deserved this win. Though she wasn’t a fan of her exploiting her love of the spotlight early on, this would ultimately be what allowed Doc Fab to win…that and perseverance through Vera’s powerful slams.

Medical staff arrived to the ring after the declarations of victory, a medic checking on Vera’s leg, trying to help her up to an upright position to help her backstage, while another medic wanted to help with Fabulous’s hurting shoulder.

She promptly left the ring, letting Fabulous celebrate her win while she disappeared into backstage. Her breath was ragged and she wanted to cry…but she promised herself, despite tonight’s setback…despite everything, she will get good enough…good enough to hold the gold in this company…
