Wrestling Style:
Azumi is a classically trained joshi-puroresu athlete, and as such she can be seen as a rather straightforward fighter. She keeps a certain level of professionalism when it comes to wrestling and doesn’t let outside factors influence her mindset too much.
Her style can be quite rough/tough, as it involves a lot of kicks, and strikes and is generally fast-paced. She deals with her opponents in a confident manner but never ceases being reasonably humble as she uses hard strikes and a variety of other moves to work over her opponent.
Preferred Attacks: Northern Lights Suplex, Basement Dropkick, Belly to Belly Suplex, Palm Strike. Butterfly Suplex. Roundhouse kick. Axe Kick. Heel Kick. Shoot Kicks, Hook Kick, Side Kick. DDT. Personality:
Azumi is a confident girl, proud of her abilities yet isn’t one to overtly brag about her talents. She is the kind who would rather show than tell, someone who values actions over words. Despite this Azumi does take a strange amount of joy to annoy people, trying to pinch nerves and get a rise out of people, though this is something which she seems to do more so with people she actually is fond of, over people she dislikes.
Being a star of many different wrestling associations, Azumi is someone who oozes charisma in a sense. She is upbeat and outgoing, a true extrovert who has no qualms about chatting and treating people in familiar ways without a single hitch.
She has absolute confidence in her abilities and that is something that doesn’t falter. As any wrestler who has been at it for long enough she has taken some harsh losses but many proud victories as well, never faltering in her spirit is what has driven fans to her side.
One thing that Azumi does take great pleasure in doing is to propose rather outlandish requests. She never expects people to take these requests seriously, as it’s mostly to see the reaction the request will cause, though if they are accepted Azumi will give it her all in whatever endeavor it is. An example of this can be her challenging someone to a match where the winner gets possession of the others pet, if she wins though Azumi will of course have lost complete interest in the ‘price’ and just return it as that was never the goal to begin with.
She is always up for a challenge, that is Azumi the wrestler.
Outside of the ring, Azumi is still pretty cheerful and upbeat, she does things at her own pace and doesn’t let anyone else dictate what she is supposed to do or how. She follows her own ambitions and thoughts and isn’t swayed by others, opinions or otherwise. There are times when this has ended up poorly for her of course, but Azumi has no thoughts about changing who she is. Upsetting people is never a goal for her, but she doesn’t shirk away from it should it happen, she accepts what happens and moves on.
In her spare time, Azumi has a handful of hobbies. She greatly enjoys rock climbing/mountain climbing as a hobby. She loves to go to karaoke bars with friends, and enjoys curling up on her couch and watching korean dramas.
History:
From an early age Azumi found a great deal of interest in pro-wrestling. Watching it on the TV with her father since she was the age of 5, she grew up with a passion for the sport and ever since she was young she tried her hands at wrestling. Of course it was nothing more than a kid playing around.
As she grew older this interest stuck around, and while she didn’t exactly know how to get into wrestling, most of what she did was watch it and do some stuff with friends from time to time in the school gymnasium. It was when she was in middle-school that she sort of stumbled upon a wrestling promotion not far away from where she attended school. El Palacio, that was the name of it, she started to attend regular showings there. It was a decently sized promotion in those days, that drew in a decent crowd for an indie promotion.
Seeing matches live in person changed Azumi’s outlook on wrestling, it wasn’t just something which she was interested in anymore, it wasn’t just something she enjoyed watching and playing around with, she wanted to become a wrestler. She decided that then and there when she watched her first live match.
She asked her parents to allow her to take classes that the promotion was doing at the time, and after convincing them that having an extracurricular activity would look good on her university application later on, they relented and paid for the classes. As such she was now standing on the startline.
Azumi’s training was rough, it was harder than she had imagined and a lot more painful. She was trained in the Strong Style and there were times when she thought about quitting….but Azumi persevered and grew stronger, tougher and more determined with each passing day.
Finally though, she had her first match. At the age of 16, and while she didn’t win it she did put on a performance that started to garner fans. Azumi continued to wrestle week after week in El Palacio, winning and losing but soon enough she started to garner an impressive record….one that put her among the top wrestlers in the promotion in a rather meteoric rise. Before she had even finished High School she was considered a top performer there, and she had fellow up and coming talent who wanted to face her, like Ouka Shumisen.
Finally as she had finished High School, she took to wrestling right away, she didn’t go into university but decided to dedicate her life to Pro-Wrestling. Her dedication was soon rewarded as well, as she was asked by the manager to partake in a match against the top wrestler of the promotion, Ranka Shumisen and face her for the Violet Belt of El Palacio. In a hard fought match, Azumi performed admirably, though as the halfway mark of the match hit, momentum shifted drastically, Ranka began to pummel the rising super star left and right, leaving her bloodied and bruised. Yet Azumi wouldn’t give in, she preserved and chance would have it she managed to take Ranka down and lock in an armbar. Not long after that Ranka would submit.
After that match, Ranka left El Palacio and Azumi was soon to follow, she stayed for a month or two after that title match and then left and joined H.E.A.T. Where she flourished as their champion. A lot transpired after that, with her facing off against multiple strong wrestlers and growing, taking on other wrestlers and going to other promotions. Currently she holds the H.E.A.T World Championship belt, and the Red Belt of CRASH Wrestling.
With her career at a bit of a zenith, she decided to take on a new challenge and that was to join LAW. Having heard of a few old friends joining the league, like Ouka Shumisen and Belinda Northman, she couldn’t rightly refuse when she got the offer.
