Both in the ring and in public, Kasane generally presents as a bubbly, optimistic girl who ostensibly fits the mold of a generic sociable and inoffensive young woman. This demeanor, however, is an artificial patina, a byproduct of corporate gilding. Substance takes a backseat to alignment with a marketing department's myopic conception of what would garner widespread appeal. And, of course, a public relations department also leaves its imprint, forcing Kasane to eschew individualism for the sake of being inoffensive and avoiding detriments to her public image as a pear mascot.
In reality, though, Kasane an individual, one whose true self subscribes neither to that of a perfect corporate product mascot nor to the purported Japanese cultural ideal of a 'Yamato Nadeshiko'. While her true personality does have elements of cheerfulness and optimism like her consumerism-mandated persona, Kasane also possesses a rather mischievous side, one manifests when the cameras are not rolling. She enjoys teasing people and playing pranks, but still retains a kind heart. Kasane also has a substantial creative side, doing both creative writing and digital art in her free time.
Now, although the phrase goes 'Boys, be ambitious', that does not preclude women from being ambitious: Kasane and her aspirations are ride or die, as if the latter was an inextricable facet of the former. Kasane subscribes to the mantra of 'hard work breeds success', sticking with it even when her situation is incontrovertibly bleak. And part of her tacitly believes that belief in herself will bend the universe to actualize her goals.
But that belief is a tool that she uses in an attempt to squash her true feelings. Inside, Kasane is plagued with self-doubt. She does not see herself as worthwhile, nor does she feel confident that she can achieve her subjective metric of worth for herself: success in the entertainment industry. Secretly, she loathes herself for not achieving the same success as her contemporaries, and views herself as lesser. Yet, despite these feelings, Kasane forges on—in her mind, such doubts do not advance her ambitions and should be suppressed.

Fighting Style Summary
Although it is myopic to treat cultures as uniform monoliths and ascribe stereotypical conceptions to entire groups of people, subsets of people within cultures may nonetheless have experiences that are congruous with some of the generalities. In Kasane's case, a stringent, externally encouraged adherence to the Japanese concept of wa (和) and an implicit imposition of gendered expectations of behavior that would be incongruous with modern sensibilities have greatly discouraged aggression. Even Kasane's tendency towards mischievousness is merely a restrained and mostly acceptable form of deviance rather than actual instances of her substantively rocking the boat.
As such, any intrinsic fighting skills and aggressive tendencies that she may have otherwise had have been stymied by lifelong socialization. The learned impetus to be demure and non-aggressive serve as roadblocks to combative intent, thus rendering Kasane's fighting skills commensurate with the efficacy of a butterfly with water-sodden wings. While her limbic system may cry for her to strike or grapple, her mind ultimately holds her back from her full aggressive, untrained potential.

Kasane Hoshiko (重音 星子) was born in Tokyo, Japan to impoverished parents. Resources and opportunities were scarce, fostering a poignant sense of helplessness in Kasane. Yet, rather than cause her to fall into complete despair and complicity, these circumstances stoked a desire in Kasane to elevate her parents and herself out of their situation. But, being a child, there seemed to be no viable avenues for accomplishing this goal, for raising her family out of poverty—except for becoming an idol.
However, for Kasane specifically, the possibility of idolhood was like the shining North Star: a light that guided intent but could never be touched. Despite making it far in various idol auditions growing up, Kasane would always fall short in the end. But, as the trite phrase goes, 'persistence pays off'—a mantra that Kasane fervently ascribed to.
Yet, it was this status as a perennial second pick that ultimately led to Kasane's so-called 'breakout role'. After yet another failed idol audition, the Japanese fruit company Chiquita Nihon, the Japanese branch of Chiquita Brands International, reached out to Kasane to become the mascot for its 'Teto Pear' brand of pears. The company figured that a pretty face with the trappings of an idol yet sans the success to be selective would be prime material to be transmuted into an agent for corporate profit. And, just as predicted, the opportunity-starved Kasane Hoshiko took to the role like a fish to a lure.
While the company viewed this turn of events as a pragmatic ensnarement, though, Kasane viewed the situation differently. She viewed it as her big break, her springboard to stardom. Commercials—let alone commercials for genetically engineered pears—were seldom prestigious or lucrative gigs, but optimism and inherent uncertainty about the future amalgamated into a driving impetus for Kasane. She threw her all into her new role in exchange for a modest yet enticing pittance and for probabilistic hope.
Kasane ultimately reached some level of fame, with her likeness becoming a household quasi-fixture due to her ubiquity in commercials. She became widely known as 'Teto Pear' and 'Kasane Pearto' due to brand association and the fact that the commercials often featured her wearing a pear costume.
Unfortunately, her status as a pear mascot became her claim to fame. It also did not help that Kasane's only other acting roles were in B-movies and late-night commercials. Kasane was not without some talent, but the fact that Kasane had also signed a near-exclusive contract with the Japanese fruit company had greatly limited the acting roles she could take outside of commercials for Chiquita Nihon.
Despite repeated promises from the Japanese fruit company that her role in their commercials would allow her to become an idol, such never materialized. And even the ever-optimistic Kasane could not deny the near-incontrovertible reality of her situation: that in an industry that preponderantly idolizes youth to the harsh and implicit devaluation of those past their early- to mid-twenties, at the age of twenty-four and without substantive prior experience, she was rapidly aging out of opportunities in the Japanese entertainment industry.
The Japanese fruit company, being all too aware of this brutal landscape, sought to replace Kasane with a so-called 'younger model'. But the company was not about to let Kasane go without wringing out every bit of profit they could out of her—an arrangement that, while unconscionable, was technically lawful insofar as Kasane had signed a contract.
Thus, Kasane was given an ultimatum: either become a JAV idol or join LAW as a hentai wrestler. The marketing manager in charge of conceptualizing this forceful impetus figured that either way, Kasane's sex appeal could be utilized to further the 'Teto Pear' brand for at least a couple of years.
Kasane, still hopeful about breaking into the Japanese entertainment industry, chose to become a hentai wrestler for LAW as she viewed that as the better path to fame. Despite her misgivings about entering a line of work adjacent to outright sex work, Kasane swallowed her doubts and complied under the force of corporate marketing.

- Much like its parent company, Chiquita Brands International, Chiquita Nihon has been involved in questionable practices. For instance, many decades ago, Chiquita Nihon had used its influence to impel the Imperial Japanese Army to engage in violent, anti-worker practices against workers in Guadalcanal, who were tasked with growing the 'Teto Pear' brand of pears for Chiquita Nihon. When the Americans invaded Guadalcanal, Chiquita Nihon, not willing to give up its pear farms, gave direct monetary aid to the Imperial Japanese Army to try to repel the Americans.

- Following the unavoidable passing of their Teto Pear mascot, Chiquita Nihon was quick to replace her with a younger model, Kasane Hoshiko.
- For a while after Kasane Hoshiko's signing, Kasane Hoshiko was internally referred to as the 'replacement Kasane' within Chiquita Nihon.
- Kasane once lost a one-sided 'fight' with a bunch of pears.
