Strategy: Her fighting style usually involves confusing her opponents with tricks or making them believe she has the upper hand through her exaggerated antics, even when that’s not the case. She also tends to resort to the occasional dirty trick, in addition to being helped by her manager. And when it comes to striking, she uses all kinds of attacks that, while not always the most effective, are the ones she thinks will be the most spectacular to secure a victory.

Fungus always tries to be the center of attention in her matches. She’s constantly trying to make things as spectacular as possible, getting carried away by the moment. This comes as no surprise, given that she’s the face of MWL and its franchise star in Japan, where she’s loved by the fans whether she’s a face or a heel, and always delivers the best wrestling performances every time she steps into the ring.
She tends to get carried away by the excitement, doing all sorts of crazy things in the ring, but she always makes sure to keep both herself and her opponent safe and avoid injuries. Even though she might not seem like it, she’s quite professional. She accepts what she’s told without complaint; even if she has to lose, she never breaks character, improvising when necessary and suggesting ideas to the writers. Although she sometimes gets carried away by her persona (especially at work), making more than a few people who don't know her feel uncomfortable.
Outside of her character, Caren is a rather shy girl who finds it hard to socialize when she’s not playing the role of the Mushroom Woman. She never tries to take advantage of her fame as a wrestler, and in fact, her real identity is little known because she prefers to keep those two sides of her life separate. However, she’s always willing to help her company succeed and support her noble boss by working as his assistant from time to time.
Past/History
Caren was born into a middle-class family with little to speak of besides her love of wrestling; every time she watched wrestling, she fell in love with that world, its characters, its conflicts, and its matches. It’s worth noting that this was “shot wrestling”: completely unscripted, with the participants’ true personalities on full display. This was in contrast to classic wrestling, where everything was scripted (with exceptions) and governed by “kayface.” It was this latter style that never interested Caren; she preferred real action and real conflicts.
Now, as a full-fledged adult, she decided to train in wrestling in college, demonstrating great talent in this field and proving to be a versatile athlete, able to adapt to whatever her opponent or the situation required. This caught the attention of wrestling scouts from companies like L.A.W., among others, but when they noticed a small flaw in her... when she wrestled with many people, she would become uncomfortable and nervous, which made her seem extremely shy. This happened after she participated in a trial house show, where they noticed her lack of confidence when speaking and performing her moves. This was the most important factor for the scouts, and they decided not to sign her.
Caren fell into an abyss of sadness; she had everything they were looking for in a competitor, but she fell short in what really mattered: making them feel secure. She thought no one else would call her to wrestle until she received a message from a man named Vercingétorix saying he wanted her to wrestle on the roster of his company, known as the “Monstrous Wrestling League” or MWL, as it was commonly called. With nothing to lose, she accepted the invitation.
So, what was MWL? That’s what Caren was wondering until she arrived and discovered that it was a kayface wrestling league with a unique twist: all the wrestlers had unusual gimmicks. fantastical, science fiction, supernatural, monstrous, beast-like, machine-like, and so on. All kinds of bizarre characters. At first, she found it uncomfortable and was about to quit on her first day, but Mr. Vercingétorix(the philanthropist who owned the company and had hired her)asked her to please give it a chance, and she reluctantly agreed.
At first, she didn't know what to think; she considered this to be fake, unlike the real wrestling she watched, enjoyed, and practiced, but she didn't find anything wrong with it: the atmosphere with her coworkers was really pleasant, and she found the storylines to be good, believable, and relatable despite their fictional elements. She memorized every script she was given and never missed a single training session. So the day of her debut arrived. Vercingétorix created the character of Fungus, an evolved fungus that took human form and wanted to fight in front of everyone to demonstrate its evolutionary power. Caren accepted the character and decided to fight; for the first time, she didn’t feel nervous or insecure. She had her debut match, and even though she lost, she left the fans captivated by her versatility in the ring, the spectacular moves she performed, and her charisma. The reason she hasn’t backed down is because people didn’t see Caren fighting. They saw Fungus fighting.
She quickly began to gain more and more popularity thanks to her sassy yet endearing persona, and despite that, she put on spectacular matches where she unleashed her entire arsenal and adapted to all kinds of opponents, proving herself to be an all-around wrestler. This catapulted her to become the face of the Japanese division and helped her form an unbreakable bond with the audience, whether as a heroic “face” or in her villainous “heel” roles. Having established herself as the top star in her company and the most important figure in Japan, she received an invitation to wrestle in L.A.W. as an inter-promotional agent, given her status as the top star. It was her dream to wrestle in one of those promotions, but that wasn’t the only reason she did it. She did it to prove to those audiences that Kayface Wrestling was indeed real wrestling and to elevate the status of MWL as a promotion. So she asked her boss, Vercingétorix, to be her manager during her matches, and he agreed. The two of them set out for L.A.W. to prove that sometimes fiction can surpass reality.

Fun facts:
- The only reason Vercingétorix gave her that gimmick was because her mushroom-shaped haircut made him laugh, and that's how he came up with the idea.
- It's said that she earns a million a month as the top performer at her company, plus perks from merchandise sales, and if she wins the championship, that amount is multiplied by 5.
- Despite being the number one player in her division, she never used her power behind the scenes to tip the scales in her favor or gain advantages.
