Personality
To Tae, human bodies are simply objects for her to manipulate as she pleases. Complex biological machines for her to examine. Those who fall under her medical gaze are treated as physical entities, divorced from any sense of personhood.

Tae takes this attitude into her medical practice. A ruthless diagnostician, Tae is adept wringing out whatever information she needs to make a diagnosis.

Yet, despite her efficiency and predilection for dehumanization, Tae is far from an unfeeling machine. Her sardonically macabre sense of humor is almost always on full display, constantly reducing the morbid aspects of her line of work to mere jokes.

Past
Summary
Most people know Tae as the "punk-rock doctor" or "Miss Death" due to her status as an internet meme. Not long before joining LAW, Tae was surreptitiously recorded by someone and a video clip of her was published online. The video clip showed Tae making dark, morbid, and at times mildly derisive comments towards a terminally-ill patient. Her appearance and general mannerisms piqued the interest of the internet community, resulting in her becoming a somewhat well-known meme.

Tae's status as a meme ended up ruining her professional reputation. The infraction got her fired from the hospital she had been working at and publicly reprimanded by the state medical board. Additionally, she was unable to get a job elsewhere due to the stigma surrounding her.

After months of being unemployed, Tae stumbled upon an article detailing how LAW was hiring foreign doctors onto its medical staff. Tae was initially pessimistic about her chances of being hired by LAW---after all, who would hire a doctor with ostensibly awful bedside manner? But then the article went on to describe two of the doctors that LAW had hired: Dr. Eirina Makishima and Dr. Mina Takemi. Neither of those women had the cleanest of images, yet they still worked for LAW despite---or perhaps because of---this.

Desperate for work and eager to be unconstrained by any notions of "professional conduct", Tae signed with LAW as both a doctor and wrestler.
WORK IN PROGRESS - Complete (Secret)
Brainstorming/outline
Background on Tae's parents
Tae's father was born in Japan but moved to the United States when he was eight years old. He eventually went to an American university to study biomedical engineering and intended to go to medical school after finishing his undergraduate degree. Tae's mother, on the other hand, was born in Japan and stayed in Japan until she finished high school; she then went on to study biochemistry as an international student at the same university that Tae's father studied at. The two met somewhat early on in their undergraduate careers, when Tae's father was in his third year and Tae's mother was in her first year. Later, after Tae's father graduated, he went on to an MD-PhD program (medical school + PhD program) at the same university.
Tae's mother, on the other hand, did not initially intend to become a doctor; instead, she wanted to become a biochemist. However, by the time she was in her third year of her undergraduate program, Tae's father had inspired her to pursue medicine as her career. It was also around this time that the two had started dating. Tae's mother would later go on to attend medical school at her undergraduate institution.

Would later become prominent physicians and researchers sometime after Tae was born
Tae was born in Tokyo, Japan to a couple of doctors, both of whom have MD-PhDs. From a young age, Tae knew that she wanted to follow in her parents' footsteps and become a doctor. While her parents were unsure whether Tae's desire to be a doctor was a passing phase or something that would remain, they were supportive of Tae's aspirations. Since Tae had demonstrated extreme intelligence and a strong desire to help others early on, Tae's parents figured that she would make a fine doctor if she chose to pursue that path.

- Moved to America when she was seven years old
- Parents still often spoke Japanese at home so she knows how to speak Japanese.
- Was placed two grades ahead of where she would normally be placed based on age (although even if she had been placed based on her age, she still would have been one of the youngest)
- Always felt like an outsider and felt like she was behind the others (due to being from Japan and being younger than her classmates)
- Rushed through high school due to feeling a drive to excel (part of this was to compensate for feeling "behind") and finding it harder to relate to her classmates due to her comparative lack of maturity (instead of learning how to relate, she somewhat avoided it instead because that was easier)
- Graduated high school in three years

- Went to college and majored in biochemistry
- Undergrad helped improve her social skills to the point where she was competent socially (but not great socially)
- Graduated undergrad in three years
- Went to a three-year medical school program, graduated in the normal amount of time
- She then went to a two year residency program at a hospital
- During residency, she proved herself to be exceptionally skilled in general
- She also proved herself to be an exceptional diagnostician
- However, she was known for having a very dark sense of humor, even moreso than what can be seen among doctors. This was, in part, a coping mechanism for having to experience tons of death and suffering
- She had a tough time coping with all the death and suffering but did a good job of hiding her struggles
- Even though her relationship with her parents was good, she rarely reached out to them, wanting to take care of things by herself (this was at least in part due to her wanting to prove that she was not a child; she always felt like the "child" everywhere she went due to her being younger than her peers)
- During her vacation time during her residency, she would drink extremely heavily and go out partying (the latter resulted in her picking up her punk-rock aesthetic)
- Nonetheless, she was extremely good at her job and her abilities were highly respected (albeit she did not know that)
- Despite being respected, between her extremely dark sense of humor and relative youth/immaturity (she was only 21 when she started residency), many of her peers were off-put by her
- Finished residency, started working at a hospital
- By this time, she had become somewhat jaded. Her strong desire to help others had been crushed under the weight of "just going through the motions".
- She also began studying to prepare herself for the Japanese medical licensing exam as she was contemplating going abroad (wanted to see the world, was a closeted anime fan; this was not the most thought-through idea, however). Despite being an American, she was quite skilled at Japanese. She was fluent in terms of speaking the language (due to her upbringing) and also proficient in writing/kanji (being a closeted anime fan, she had spent time on Japanese websites, reading various Japanese books, and reading various untranslated light novels---this allowed her to get proficient with Japanese writing/kanji).
- Her extremely dark and often sardonic sense of humor, occasional coldness towards patients, and distant nature did not put her in the good graces of her superiors.
- To her superiors, her only saving grace was the extreme skill and ruthless efficiency that she displayed in her work.
- To her peers, she was tolerated and respected but was not particularly close with them.
- Her one weakness, in regards to her work, was that she was not the best with dealing with people. Patients often reported that she was "cold" and "blunt". While she was extremely skilled at getting the relevant information from patients, she did so with cold efficiency and rarely showed empathy. Patients reported that they trusted her judgements but felt like a "specimen being examined" rather than a human being. Moreover, while she used clear terms when explaining situations to patients and was quite effective at communicating, she often did so in an extremely blunt and unfeeling manner.
- She even once bluntly told a patient outright that his cancer had metastasized and that tumors were now growing all over his body. After saying that, she added that his chances of survival were worse than that of a "child being used as a human minesweeper in a third-world country".
- During this time, her coworkers gave her the nicknames "The Black Death" and "The Plague" for her morbid sense of humor---this was not meant in a disrespectful way, however.
- She also began sporting her signature "punk-rock"-esque look at this time, often wearing a white lab coat over a short dress.
- One of her superiors actively disliked her, due to her macabre sense of humor and also due to jealousy over her near-prodigious abilities.
- About eight months into working at that hospital, that superior decided to hurt [CHARACTER NAME]'s career. He put up a hidden camera and managed to record [CHARACTER NAME] making a string of particularly morbid jokes. The superior then immediately leaked the footage to a local news station and the internet. The footage quickly went viral and soon, the "Punk-Rock Doctor" was famous. Additionally, various details became known about [CHARACTER NAME] including her name, the hospital where she worked at, her nicknames, and her predilection for dark humor.
- Because of her actions and the fact that her behavior had become public, the medical licensing board revoked her license. As a result, she could no longer practice medicine in her state. This happened about a month after the footage was leaked.
- After this, her mentor figure (not a formal position) at the hospital overheard [CHARACTER NAME]'s superior talking about secretly recording and leaking the footage. The mentor figure told [CHARACTER NAME] this and offered to see if he could try to get some measure of justice for [CHARACTER NAME]. However, [CHARACTER NAME] told him not to bother. Additionally, [CHARACTER NAME] also talked to [MENTOR FIGURE] about her life plans. She initially planned to get two years of experience before heading off to specialize in emergency medicine, with the hope of becoming an ER doctor. However, [MENTOR FIGURE] finally managed to dissuade [CHARACTER NAME] from taking that path as he knew that despite her morbid sense of humor, [CHARACTER NAME] was actually quite sensitive to suffering.
- Side note: The mentor figure empathized with [CHARACTER NAME] due to him having had a habit in his younger years of doing impulsive stuff that came across poorly (partly due to having undiagnosed ADHD at the time). The fact that both he and [CHARACTER NAME] were brilliant people who occasionally rubbed people the wrong way allowed the two to understand each other. Also, [MENTOR FIGURE] is Claire Thomas's father.
- Wanting to escape her viral fame, she decided to go to become a doctor in Japan. She took the licensing exam and passed it, thus becoming licensed to practice medicine in Japan.
- She moved to Japan and quickly started her own small clinic. This was to help her improve her skills with interacting with people. As she was painfully aware of her previous mistakes (i.e. coming across negatively), she wanted to learn how to avoid those mistakes again.
- The clinic struggled a lot and she barely had enough money. However, upon treating a LAW wrestler at her clinic, she found out about LAW. Wanting to make some extra money herself, she decided to join LAW.

- Additionally, to help sell herself, she decided to embrace her viral fame and play a "twisted doctor" character while in LAW.
