MISTY SIMS, “Ascended Fangirl”

Image

Date of Birth: September 22
Height: 5’1”
Weight: 135 lbs.
Build: Short and buxom, definition of a “short stack”
Physicality: A slow and methodical wrestler, who relies on having a low center of gravity. Visibly outclassed by taller or stronger opponents, Misty hopes that she can use her size to her advantage and confound them with quick reversals and clever escapes. Misty gained the nickname "Mighty Mouse" from a trainer, after seeing her execute her first suplex.
Hometown: Chicago, IL, USA
Entrance Theme:

Background: The middle child of three daughters, with two brothers to boot, Misty grew up craving some kind of spotlight. Academically solid but not outstanding, and lacking standout athletic ability due to her short stature, it took some time for Misty to find something to make her stand out. The young woman found an outlet as an Instagram model, parleying her looks into the kind of attention she’d been looking for. Misty got a lot of positive attention online, amassing a following and gathering a solid following. However, it seemed this wasbuilding her confidence and giving her something to hang her hat on, even while it wasn't garnering her much respect or a great deal of money.

Misty carried on as a social media model for some time, enjoying what fame that she was getting, despite not having a solid plan for where to go from there. However, a night out with friends would lead Misty to her first independent wrestling show, an event which would change her life dramatically. Enamored with the world inside the square circle, Misty saw it as a place that heart and determination, more than size, would allow her to excel. Misty was immediately enamored with the world that pro wrestling presented and became an obsessive fan.

Misty began conditioning as soon as she could, working with local wrestlers whenever she had the chance. Misty became a well-known face at shows, as an enthusiastic fangirl and welcome wagon to new fans. Misty went from posting show photos to fan art, to even designing merch and tee shirts for some of her favorites. Eventually, Misty decided to take the plunge, foregoing college in favor of making the jump from model to fangirl to in-ring competitor. The decision was not a popular one in her family, leaving Misty on her own. This didn’t deter her, however, as Misty threw herself wholeheartedly into following her dream. Misty played her following on social media into a wrestling fan base, as she documented her journey as an ascended fangirl.

Motivated to prove herself and get to that next level, Misty sent applications to any and every larger wrestling promotion she could think of, eventually getting a response from LAW. Motivated and somewhat desperate to prove herself at a young age, Misty leapt at the chance to see the world and wrestle internationally, despite her lack of qualifications to compete at such a level. Determined to learn as she goes, Misty has the drive to succeed, the looks to impress the fans, and hopefully the will to endure a number of hard lessons in the ring!

Training & Style: Misty ingrained herself to much of her local wrestling scene through fan art and promoting area talent. In exchange, she’s been given a beginner’s modicum of training, making her competent in the ring with the conditioning to run the ropes well. Beyond that, however, she’s very much a greenhorn, and sometimes looks lost in the ring as she plans out her next cool spot. Misty studies many matches on tape and does her best to replicate what she sees in the ring.
Experience: Minimal, less than a year’s experience. Has taken to it well but still gets lost trying to string moves together.
Signature Moves: Leg scissor; leg lariat; inverted sleeper hold/smother; running hip attack;
Specialty Move-
Hanging headscissor: Misty jumps up onto an opponent’s shoulders as if she’s about to perform a hurricanrana. Instead of dropping them, however, she’ll instead clench her thighs around the opponent’s neck, trying to choke them out before they can counter her (which does not happen as often as she’d like, unfortunately).
Twerk Rate: Misty applies a camel clutch to an opponent, then shifts her body backward to put their face directly beneath her ass, and sits her weight down until she hears a submission

Favorite Match: Standard match; also likes to challenge opponents above her weight class

Attitude: Energetic and outgoing, and eager to throw herself into danger full-on. Tends to lack caution, especially when she feels like she’s rolling and impressing the fans. Misty has a bad habit of focusing more on her fans than on her opponent. Tends to dress and act a little flirty toward opponents and fans, knowing this helps build her reputation with the fans. However, Misty is also very sensitive about a few subjects, including her size. She’s somewhat intimidated by many of her more fit or experienced opponents but is nonetheless determined to score an upset victory.

Crowd Reaction/Fan Base: Has a likeable quality, where she is clearly trying her best and makes the fans want to see her succeed. Gets a good babyface reaction from most crowds, and usually tries to play to them in return to their support.

Trivia & Fun Facts:
-Misty loves sugary foods, especially cereal. If she could, she would retreat into a tower of cereal boxes and never come out.
-Misty is still in contact with her family, who don’t support her decision to become a wrestler but still encourage her to see the world. She has a fascination with non-Americans and wants to experience many cultures.
-Misty’s favorite thing about moving to Japan is learning about local mascots. She approaches them like celebrities and collects autographs.
-Misty has a popular Instagram account, where she posts meals, training pics, and backstage candids. Several have approached her with the suggestion of an interview show, but Misty feels this would distract from her in-ring career.
-Misty has thrown herself into studying wrestling and binges any wrestling streaming service or tapes she can get her eyes on. As such, she considers herself a student of the game, and tends to fangirl over anyone that she recognizes from competition.
