Backstory + Personality:
Tegan’s life was always a bit turbulent. Her mother passed away when she was young, and after that it was just her and her father. His work had them moving around Texas a lot, which made it hard for Tegan to ever feel settled. Even though her father made good money and always made sure they were taken care of, she still grew envious of people who had more stable lives. Growing up, she got into fights and trouble often, having no filter and no problem telling people exactly what she thought. Her father didn’t always approve of it, but he never stopped her either, believing she’d learn her lessons on her own.
As she got older, her father’s job finally allowed them to settle down in Port Aransas. The stability didn’t make Tegan any softer though. She still got into fights, but now that she was able to stay in one place, she also managed to make a few friends. The pain from those fights stuck with her, feeling like the only real and honest thing she could rely on. Her father wasn’t much for talking about feelings, so she learned early to deal with things on her own instead of leaning on anyone else.
Wrestling became another constant in her life. It was always there on television, coming on like clockwork, and it gave her ideas for how to fight even though she had no formal training at the time. When she was sixteen, she finally talked her father into letting her train, especially after a friend from school had already started two or three years before her. That delay bothered Tegan more than she liked to admit. She envied the head start her friend had, especially since she always believed she was the better fighter after all the fights she’d already been in.
After about a year of training, Tegan began focusing more on power moves, strikes, and a few submissions, preferring that over anything flashy or acrobatic. She made her debut on the Texas indies and continued from there, picking up wins and losses along the way. No matter the outcome, she always pushed matches as far as she could, physically and with the rules, and sometimes past them, turning every match into a knock out, drag out brawl. On the Texas indies, Tegan became known as someone who would always give you a hard match, whether she won or lost. Promoters didn’t always like how far she pushed things, but they trusted her to make every match feel real, while referees were usually quicker with warnings when she worked, knowing she didn’t care much for limits. After matches, she skipped ice packs and used a heating pad instead, preferring to feel the pain rather than numb it.
That feeling of envy toward her friend never really went away. Watching her move on to bigger stages while she stayed grinding on the indies only made Tegan more impatient. Her father kept up with her career in his own way, checking in after matches and asking if she was hurt more than anything else. Years of hard work eventually paid off when a LAW talent scout took notice. When the offer came, Tegan accepted without hesitation. She was tired of feeling one step behind, tired of smaller crowds, and confident she was ready for the big leagues.
