BIOGRAPHY

Gertrude Rae Calder grew up on a hog farm just outside Sweetwater, Tennessee, where days started early, ended late, and nothing came easy without a little mud and a few bruises along the way. Life on the farm demanded toughness, whether it meant hauling feed under the summer sun, fixing broken fencing by hand, or keeping control of animals that outweighed her by hundreds of pounds. The youngest of several siblings, Trudy spent most of her childhood wrestling hogs, goats, and brothers who never went easy on her. As her daddy always said, falling was not failure. Staying down was. That lesson stuck.

So it was no wonder that as soon she was old enough to sign up, Trudy began competing in the annual Chattanooga Rodeo mud wrestling matches, and year after year she took first place. Boys and girls alike found themselves twisted up, dragged through the muck, and pinned before they quite understood what had happened. It was pure coincidence that a local liaison for the world-famous wrestling promotion LAW happened to be in attendance one year, but it did not take long for him to recognize that there was something special about the loud, mud-smeared girl grinning as she hauled yet another opponent off the ground.

Trudy was given a handful of test runs on the local independent circuit as a tryout of sorts. Unlike the barnyard matches and mud pit brawls she was used to, professional wrestling proved to be far stricter about rules and regulations, none of which she took to particularly well. Even so, she was an instant hit with the fans. She was real. Every bruise was earned, every submission and hair pull delivered with a grin and no apology. Rough around the edges or not, the LAW promoter offered her a full-time contract and a one-way plane ticket toward something much bigger than the farm she came from.

In the ring, Trudy Rae Calder is loud, scrappy, and impossible to ignore. She fights like a wild bronco, always charging headlong into the fight. Sure, she skirts the rules every now and then, especially when threaten to get in the way of giving her opponent a proper thumping. But she doesn't pretend to be polished or pristine, in fact she revels when matches turn ugly. The dirtier, the better, whether that means wet and messy mud matches, or gritty hardcore bouts where blood is bound to spill. Trudy does it all. Outside the ring, she is warm, blunt, and unpretentious, chatty in that easy going way that embodies southern charm and hospitality. Inside it, she becomes something else entirely. A hometown hero. The Sweetwater Bruiser. A southern belle who thrives when the fight gets dirty and the odds get mean.

WRESTLING INFORMATION

Strategy:
Years of hard labor on her family farm have molded Trudy into one of the strongest belles east of the Mississippi, a fact many opponents overlook when they size up the unassuming powerhouse. On her feet, she welcomes slugfests, punches, kicks, and headbutts until her opponent is loopy enough for her to start ragdolling them around at will. On the mat, she is just as fierce, tying opponents up in spine-bending submissions born from years of wrangling hogs in the mud. She has no qualms about fighting dirty when the moment calls for it. A hair pull here, an eye rake there, hell, it’s a fight, ain’t it? There is almost no risk she will not take if she believes it will hurt her opponent more than it hurts her, and once Trudy commits, she never half-steps.

FUN FACTS

• Has a soft spot for strays and will absolutely bring one home without asking anyone first
• Drinks her coffee strong enough to “put hair on your chest” and won’t touch anything involving flavored creamers or fancy syrups.
• Always checks for callouses when she shaking hands, and if she doesn’t find any, she’ll tell them they “ain’t done a day of honest work in their life.”
• Three-time mud wrestling champion at the annual rodeo back home, and the reigning arm-wrestling champ at her favorite local dive.
• Grew up waking before sunrise and still does out of habit, even on days off, usually before she realizes there’s no reason to be awake yet.
• Handier than a pocket on a work shirt, capable of fixing fences, engines, and most household problems with whatever happens to be nearby.
• Fiercely Patriotic. Don't you dare go bad mouthing the good Ol' USA around this girl.
