Despite being a top-tier researcher, Rio is a fairly laid-back individual. She maintains a fair number of hobbies outside her work, which include—but are not limited to—video games, anime, and hentai wrestling. Her office door is almost always open and she is almost always willing to talk about any topic that remotely interests her. However, most only seek her out for her academic knowledge, much to her disappointment.
Even though she has enjoyed much success in academia, Rio desires to be known for more than just her academics. This desire, along with being somewhat of a degenerate and the lackluster pay that accompanies being an assistant professor, led Rio to become a LAW wrestler—particularly one that is active in the hentai division. Rio hopes that this will add more variety to her life and help others to view her as more than just an academic wunderkind.

Even from a young age, Rio showed incredible academic talent. This fact was not lost on her parents and teachers. Everyone in her life encouraged her to work harder and go further in academics, to the point that academics was all that she became known for. In a system that normally did not allow grades to be skipped, Rio's exceptional academic ability convinced school administrators that she should be skipped ahead multiple grades—of course, this skipping came at the behest of her parents. Thus, Rio went through her childhood being the youngest in her class. Being the youngest made it difficult to relate to her peers, so Rio escaped into hobbies. When she was not pretending to be the perfect student, she spent her time playing video games and watching anime. She became an otaku, unbeknownst to everyone else.
Once she hit college, everything changed. She no longer had to keep up a facade of studiousness: so long as she made the grade, her parents would be none the wiser. Thus, Rio went wild. She skipped classes, only showing up to turn in hastily—yet correctly—done homework and to ace exams. The rest of her waking hours were spent wildly partying, playing video games, and watching anime—often while drunk off her rocker. The alcohol acted as social lubricant, and the formerly sheltered Rio quickly learned how to socialize.
Rio graduated undergrad with a nearly perfect GPA. Not knowing what to do with her life, she decided to go to graduate school. It was there that Rio became enamored with theoretical computer science. She tamped down on her wilder habits and became a serious student. Four years later, she had both a master's degree and a doctorate degree, both in computer science.
From there, Rio grew into a consummate researcher, having several major publications to her name. She specialized in the theory of computation, algorithms, algorithmic information theory, and probability theory, and she has made substantial contributions to all of those fields. However, she was not one to stick solely to her specialty, and she had made forays into other fields under the gamut of computer science, including cybersecurity and machine learning.
