By this point, a good many teams had already taken their places around the ring - but by no means was it slowing down any time soon! Just then, a loud cry broke through the air.
"WHOAH WHOAH WHOAH! Hold on, now, isn't there someone you're forgetting here?"
At the commotion, many heads in the audience looked back to the source of the noise - which was coming from the entrance ramp, as three women made their way down from backstage.
Though all three of them looked tough and ready to start a fight at a moment's notice - a statement that was, in fact, quite accurate - what linked them together was the leather jackets they wore, all emblazoned across the back with a skull-and-crossed-baseball-bats logo, with a heart for one eye.
It was that symbol that identified them as the Heartbreakers, one prominent team among those rising to prominence in LAW. With so many teams gravitating toward the championship, and the offer to compete for it, it was only natural that they would be among them! They saw the Tag Team Championships as the ultimate pursuit of their career, and they had never been closer to making it a reality than they were now!
The three of them forced their way to the front of the crowd, with no regard for anyone who was in their way. Kyoko swerved and pushed around anyone in her path, with oddly placid calls of
"'scuse me! Comin' through!", while Misako, choosing not to mince words, simply shoved aside anyone she could. Sachiko followed along behind them, taking the path that her underlings had cleared for her - though she still did throw a slap of her palm in the direction of Ducky's rear for good measure as she passed by. The three of them would soon climb into the ring, where Sachiko stormed closer to Kat to snatch the microphone away from her, and her teammates were close behind, watching with their arms crossed, should Tracy and Aurora take issue with that.
If that went off without a hitch, though, Sachiko would turn to the crowd and begin her speech.
"Yeah, I'll say they're forgetting someone! Isn't that right, Kyoko?" She elbowed her partner in the arm - only for Kyoko to simply stand there, staring out into the crowd.
"Uh..."
Misako groaned, crossing her arms.
"Kyoko, she's talking about-"
She didn't need to finish - that was enough to jog Kyoko's memory of what their plan was.
"OH! Yeah! What Sachi here means is that you were forgetting about her! I mean, us!"
"Ain't that the truth!~" Sachiko flashed a grin as she threw her arms around her partner's shoulders, pulling them closer.
"Fact of the matter is, you really think you're gonna talk about the future of the tag division and not have the Heartbreakers drop by? Pssht! C'mon!"
"It doesn't matter if we were invited," Misako added, as she cracked her knuckles.
"We're showing up whether they like it or not, because that's how we do things around here!"
"Let's face it, if you're talking about the top teams in LAW, we gotta be up there somewhere!" Sachiko chimed in.
"We're undefeated in tag team action. And each one of us is no slouch either! I'd have a perfect score myself, if it wasn't for...lemme check...Rose Gold? Y'know, the Lightweight Champion? I don't think that should count! If it's on even grounds, I'm undefeated!"
Misako bit her lip and looked off. She knew that Sachiko had, inadverently, insulted herself by implying she was beneath the level of a champion, but she chose to let her have it for now. Kyoko, too, hopped up, flashing a confident grin as she held a fist high.
"And even when we can't do things ourselves, we can still bail each other out!"
Misako groaned a little louder. As much as her teammates were trying to build themselves up, she knew that - even for a ruthless team like they were - bragging about winning matches through illegal interference wasn't the right way to do it.
"Look, can we just...let Sachiko do her thing?"
"Gladly!~" Sachiko continued.
"As the leader around here, I'd like to make a proposition. We should be on anyone's radar when it comes to potential champs, and we're gonna make that a reality! We'll challenge you for the belts any time - hell, we'll fight anyone in this room if we gotta get through you first!"
"And that includes the audience!" Kyoko chirped.
"But we wanna say something else to you too, SWAT Kats - you probably already know this, but we've never been big on playing by the rules. We do our own thing. But just this once, I wanna prove to you that we can take you down any time, even on your own terms! There's three of us and three of you - which should make us a more worthy match than anyone else who's shown up so far - but if you really want us to pick out two of you, that's fine! That's cool! We can do that! Me and Misako against Kat and Tracy, how about it?"
"Wait...I don't get to come?" Kyoko pouted.
"Ehh, you can still be in our corner for moral support. And lookin' pretty," Sachiko added, flashing a wink to Kyoko.
Misako added her own thoughts, too.
"Also, knowing you, you won't let that stop you anyway..."
"Which brings me to my next point!" Sachiko cleared her throat.
"I already agreed to your terms in doing this 2v2 - so fair's fair, and you gotta agree to our requests now! You want us to pick the match type, huh? Well...I wanna see what you're really made of! No rules, just us, and whatever weapons we can get our hands on! Hardcore, no-DQ, whatever you wanna call it - listen, we learned how to fight on the streets, and while we can out-wrestle you any day, it's when we don't have to worry about a ref telling us what to do where we really shine! So whaddaya say, huh? Do we have a deal?"
