Cyra of Palmyra

Unread post by Dokki »

Hypnotic Dancer
Cyra of Palmyra

Name- Cyra of Palmyra
Sex- Female
Age- 20
Eyes- Purple
Hair- Greenish-Grey
Height- 5’1 (155cm)
Weight- 100 lbs (45 kg)
Race- Human
Alignment- Chaotic Neutral

Fighting Style

Cyra prefers to avoid fights due to her small size and lack of combat training. The dancer prefers to let others do the fighting while she provides magical support.

When forced to defend herself, Cyra wields a curved dagger and fights in a dance like manner, twirling about elegantly with the blade held out, slashing those who get near her while also contorting her body from side to side to avoid incoming attacks.

When unarmed, Cyra resorts to the scrappy method of fighting used by the brothel and tavern girls—Hair pulling, slapping, clawing and kicking.

Special Abilities

Belly Dancing- Cyra is a skilled dancer, having practiced from an early age as a means of survival. She is now capable of controlling the movement of almost every part of her body allowing her to enthrall those who watch her dance with mysterious and sexy contortions.

Hypnosis- Cyra is able to hypnotize people who watch her dance placing the audience in a trance like state and making them more responsive to suggestion. This ability has caused Cyra to rise to the top of the entertainment world, traveling from city to city and filling her purse with gold. Cyra’s Hypnosis is not magical and thus only works on those who are already open to suggestion. A person who is sitting near the stage and watching intently is far more likely to find themselves enthralled than someone drinking at the bar only half watching her routine. Due to her skill as a dancer as well has her celebrity status, it is rare for anyone to not find themselves enthralled with her.

Invigorating Dance- In battle, Cyra can put her allies into a battle trance, reducing the targets ability to feel fatigue or pain thus allowing them to fight as though they were at full strength even when winded or wounded. This spell only works if the target is watching her dance and is willing to become entranced. Since the spell relies on line of sight, it is possible for anyone including enemies or bystanders to receive the buff. Finally, the spell does not actually reduce fatigue or heal their wounds meaning that it is possible for the target to suddenly collapse from exhaustion even though they feel perfectly fine.

Appearance

Cyra is a small but curvaceous young woman with a full chest, smooth tanned skin, and a beautifully textured physique which helps immensely to amplify the hypnotic effect of her belly dancing routine. Cyra has short, shoulder length Greyish green hair and purple eyes. When dancing, Cyra wears a number of different outfits, all of which are revealing and made of the finest silks and laces and often adorned in gold jewelry which jingles as she spins and shimmies. When traveling from town to town, Cyra wears heavy robes and hides her face behind a veil to protect her skin from the blazing desert sun and cutting sand as well as to disguise herself from slavers and bandits who might wish to harm her if they knew her identity.

History

Cyra’s parents sold her to slavers when she was still very young to pay off a debt. The young girl was taken to the city of Palmyra, a major trade center in the area where many caravan trains converged to sell their exotic goods. Cyra was taken in by the Priestesses at the temple of Ishtar who looked after infant slave girls until they were old enough to be sold. It was at the temple of the goddess where Cyra was trained to dance. The girl soon fell in love with dancing. When she twirled and leapt, all her fears would seem to leave her but it would be her skill as a dancer that would eventually lead to her being sold to a tavern to entertain the patrons. Though she knew that those who came to watch only lusted after her body, she still appreciated their cheers and applause.

One day a famous free dancer was hired to perform at the tavern. Cyra was enthralled by the woman’s routine, the way her hips bounced and her belly moved in serpent like figure eight motions seemed to capture the young dancers gaze as well as everyone else in the establishment. When the older dancer finished, she asked politely for donations and to Cyra’s surprise, nearly everyone in the bar paid absurd amounts of coin. After the show, Cyra would ask the dancer how she was able to dance like that. The woman would smile and ask Cyra if she could keep a secret. Once the younger girl had promised, the free dancer would tell her about a way to hypnotize audiences through dance.

After the older dancer left, Cyra would practice every night trying to replicate what she had seen with little success. One night the tavern owner called her up to his room. He was clearly very drunk and his touch caused Cyra to shiver. He would ask her to dance for him. Cyra feared what evil intentions lay in the tavern owner’s heart and knew she could not fail. She would dance the greatest dance of her life. All her anxieties would lift from her shoulders just like when she was a little girl at the temple. When she finished Cyra waited for what was to come. Too her surprise, the tavern owner sat silently in a dazed state. Cyra would steel her nerves and build up the strength to ask for a donation even though she was forbidden from having money of her own. To her surprise, the tavern owner gave her twenty five gold pieces! Her confidence building, Cyra asked if she was able to go free. The tavern owner stood up, towering over the young girl and stumbled towards her. Cyra would raise her arms defensively and turn her head but the man walked by her and began rummaging through his desk. He would return and hand a rolled up piece of paper to Cyra before shuffling over to his bed where he collapsed.

Opening the scroll, Cyra discovered it to be the deed to her freedom. The young dancer would slip out into the dark streets and run as far as she could before joining a caravan in the morning. From then on, Cyra swore that she would only dance for herself. She would travel from town to town dancing where she could while continuing to hone her hypnotic abilities.

Personality

Once shy and scared, Cyra is now confident and outgoing. Though she is very charismatic and outwardly kind, Cyra is capable of dubious behavior, using her charm to draw others into her hypnotic dance before stealing politely asking for their gold.

While dancing, Cyra seems to enter a trance like state, completely focused on her routine. All her fears and worries disappear when she's on stage leaving Cyra feeling somewhat sad when the music ends.

Cyra’s greatest fear is to be sold back into slavery and she will do anything she can to avoid that fate including the hiring of mercenaries and bodyguards to protect her as she travels the bandit filled desert. Due to her nomadic lifestyle, Cyra lacks any meaningful friendships and often feels lonely though she is rarely ever alone. When she meets slave dancers she will often tell them the secret of her dancing just as a woman long ago had done for her.
