It didn’t take long for the match to be made after the commotion backstage. Before the heat from the interview had even cooled, the booking came together quickly, setting up a clash between two of LAW’s rising rookies. And on the night of the match, the arena was packed. The stands were filled with fans eager to see two women with sharply contrasting styles finally collide inside the ring. Waiting at the gorilla position, Laxia stepped toward the stage the moment the staff gave her the cue.
The darkened entranceway suddenly came alive as her theme filled the arena, violin strings woven over a heavy beat. Golden pyro erupted on both sides of the stage, and through the flashes emerged Laxia in the white, black, and gold ring gear that had gradually become her signature look.
Under the spotlight, she paused with her chin slightly raised and both hands resting at her hips, taking in the crowd with a confident expression before making her way naturally down the ramp. Compared to her earliest appearances, she looked noticeably more comfortable now.
She acknowledged the crowd with an elegant smile, offering small nods and the occasional wave as the cheers followed her toward the ring. Outwardly, she carried herself with ease, though with every step closer to the ropes, her heart beat a little faster. Reaching the ring, Laxia pulled the ropes apart with both hands and slipped gracefully between them. With a light hop, she climbed onto the turnbuckle with effortless ease, then dipped into an elegant bow toward the audience.
The crowd answered with an even louder roar. The reaction she received seemed to grow with every match. And Laxia couldn’t help but smile at that. When she had first been told that the backstage interview had gone viral and drawn an enormous number of views, she hadn’t quite been able to shake the nagging thought that perhaps the attention had belonged more to Jazmine, the woman who had barged in and effortlessly stolen the room, than to her. But the cheers surrounding her now felt different. At least in this moment, they sounded like voices that had come to see her. That alone was enough to wash away some of the lingering doubt.
Laxia retreated to her corner and began loosening her shoulders and arms, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet before lifting her head. The first impressions they had formed of one another backstage, based entirely on appearances, would finally be stripped down to the truth inside the ring. Her gaze settled on the entrance stage. Would Jazmine appear wearing that same smug smile as before? Or would stepping into the ring reveal something different? The corner of Laxia’s mouth lifted slightly. Either way, it hardly mattered. She would find out for herself soon enough. Leaning back into her corner, Laxia gave her wrists and shoulders one final stretch and kept her eyes fixed on the stage. Now there was only one thing left to wait for...
