Note: This is an open RP match, meaning anyone can jump into this match. It’s first come, first served, so whoever replies first will be the one my girl Amika is facing. If you want more details, please send me a message to her on the site since Discord is messed up rn.
The locker room was considerably quieter than the arena beyond it, but not nearly quiet enough to hide the distant roar of the crowd. Every so often, a particularly loud cheer managed to penetrate the concrete walls, reminding Amika Ishibe exactly what was waiting for her on the other side. Sitting on one of the benches in front of her locker, Amika bounced one leg impatiently while making the last few adjustments to her gear. She'd performed in front of enormous crowds before. She'd stood beneath blinding stage lights, sung live with thousands of eyes fixed upon her, and somehow managed to smile through all the pressure that came with being an idol. Yet tonight, her stomach was filled with butterflies.
This wasn't another concert. This wasn't an exhibition match, either. Tonight marked Amika Ishibe's official debut as a wrestler in LAW.
And she didn't even know who she was wrestling.
Amika took a deep breath before puffing out her cheeks and slowly releasing it. Her teal eyes drifted toward the nearby mirror. For just a moment, the endlessly cheerful former idol looked unusually serious as she stared back at herself. Months of training had led her here. Early mornings, exhausting practices, countless bumps and bruises, and probably more failed attempts at flashy wrestling moves than she'd ever admit publicly. All because she'd made one ridiculous promise during a livestream.
Anything was possible if you were willing to work for it.
At the time, she'd simply wanted to inspire people. Now she actually had to prove it.
Her serious expression lasted approximately three more seconds before a bright smile returned to her face. Amika sprang to her feet and slapped both hands lightly against her cheeks.
"Okay! No getting nervous now! You've trained for this. You've worked really, really hard for this!" Amika encouraged herself, pumping both fists in front of her chest. "Besides, everyone's waiting! It'd be pretty embarrassing if their new wrestling idol spent her debut hiding in the locker room!"
Amika giggled at the thought before heading for the door.
Of course, there was one little detail that made tonight considerably different from a normal debut. LAW hadn't given Amika an opponent. Instead, the former idol had eagerly agreed to make her first official appearance an open challenge. It was probably an unnecessarily risky way to introduce herself to the promotion, but that was precisely why Amika had loved the idea. She had spent so long telling her fans that they shouldn't run away from challenges just because they seemed scary. How could she possibly make an exception for herself now?
The moment Amika reached the entrance area and heard the audience on the other side, whatever nervousness remained seemed to transform into pure energy. A familiar smile stretched across her face. This part she knew.
The arena lights suddenly dimmed.
Amika's entrance music burst through the speakers, immediately drawing the audience's attention toward the stage. Bright lights swept across the arena before finally converging on the entrance, and after deliberately making the audience wait those few extra seconds, Amika came bounding through the curtain.
"LAW! Hiiiiiiii!"
Amika threw both arms enthusiastically above her head as she greeted the audience, practically hopping in place before flashing them her signature peace sign. There was no attempt at looking intimidating. No cold stare toward the ring or dramatic effort to convince everyone she was the toughest wrestler in the building. Instead, Amika looked like she was having the time of her life simply being there.
She began making her way down the entrance ramp, but taking a straight path toward the ring apparently wasn't exciting enough for her. Amika zigzagged from one side of the barricade to the other, exchanging high-fives with whatever outstretched hands she could reach. Whenever somebody called her name, she enthusiastically waved in their direction. Years spent as an idol made interacting with a crowd practically second nature, but there was something different about tonight. These weren't merely fans coming to watch Amika Ishibe perform.
They were about to watch her wrestle.
Reaching ringside, Amika briefly stopped and looked up at the ring. Her smile softened. For the first time since emerging from backstage, she simply stood there and took in the sight before her. LAW's ring. The place she'd dreamed about reaching throughout all those months of training.
Then the excitement returned.
Amika grabbed the middle rope and hopped onto the apron before slipping between the ropes. Immediately, she rushed toward the opposite side and climbed onto the middle turnbuckle, raising both hands above her head as she soaked in the crowd's reaction. Turning around, she repeated the gesture toward another section of the arena before hopping lightly back down to the canvas.
She bounced several times on the balls of her feet, testing the ring beneath her before jogging toward the ropes. Amika hit them with her back and allowed them to propel her forward, sprinting across the ring and rebounding off the opposite side. After another pass, she abruptly stopped herself in the center and spun around with both arms extended, almost turning the warm-up into a tiny dance routine.
"Perfect!"
Satisfied, Amika headed toward the ropes and requested a microphone. Once it was passed to her, she returned to the middle of the ring. The former idol waited for the audience to settle, although the enormous grin on her face suggested she wasn't particularly bothered by the noise.
"Okay, okay! First..." Amika began before suddenly bowing deeply toward the audience. "Thank you so much for coming!"
Straightening again, she held the microphone with both hands.
"For anyone who doesn't know me yet, my name is Amika Ishibe! Some of you might remember me from a slightly different kind of stage..." She gave the audience a playful wink. "But starting tonight, I'm officially a wrestler at one of the biggest leagues in the world!"
Amika paused as the announcement drew another reaction from the crowd. She practically glowed at the response, rocking excitedly onto the tips of her toes.
"I've spent a really long time preparing for this. And I know there are probably people wondering if an idol like me actually belongs in a wrestling ring." Amika tilted her head thoughtfully before giving a small shrug. "And... maybe you're right! I guess we'll have to find out together!"
She giggled before continuing.
"But I promised everyone who supported me that I would never turn away from a challenge just because it looked difficult. That's why I didn't want my first match to be against somebody I already knew everything about. I wanted my very first LAW match to be against..." Amika dramatically swept one arm toward the entrance ramp. "...anyone!"
The crowd's reaction brought an even wider smile to her face.
"So, whoever is back there listening, this is your invitation! Big, small, rookie, veteran—I don't care! If you want to be the first person to face Amika Ishibe in LAW, come on down!"
Amika lowered the microphone before suddenly raising one finger.
"Oh! But we're having a good, clean match, okay?" she quickly added with an almost comically stern expression. "And whoever wins, no being a sore loser! That includes me!"
With that settled, Amika handed the microphone back through the ropes and skipped toward her corner. She climbed onto the middle turnbuckle and sat herself atop it, crossing one leg over the other while facing the entrance ramp. Her fingers drummed impatiently against her knee as she waited to discover exactly who had decided to answer her challenge.
Despite her relaxed pose, her heart was pounding.
This was it.
No carefully selected opponent. No exhibition. No safety net. Whoever walked through that curtain would become Amika Ishibe's first opponent in LAW, and she'd have to figure them out after the bell rang.
Yet when Amika rested her chin against one hand and watched the entrance with bright, expectant teal eyes, there wasn't a hint of regret on her face. Instead, she smiled. All she could do now was wait and see who would answer.
