L.A.W. - League of Anime Wrestling

Hi, I’m working on a story arc for my character in L.A.W., and the idea is that he’s returning from a trip to Moscow (in the RP lore, there’s a rival federation based there). So, to make this believable in my posts, I’m trying to figure out how traveling there actually works in practice, the day-to-day details... and I stumbled upon the issue of SIM cards. Does an eSIM for traveling to Russia still work properly after the restrictions of the past two years? I’ve read conflicting information—some say foreign carriers are practically blocked there now, while others say it still works depending on the provider. My character needs to be reachable and able to work on the go within the lore, so I’d like to have some realistic info to include in my writing. Does anyone have any recent experience with this?

What most people will probably tell you is that... you might be overthinking it. People aren't likely to scrutinize that hard. I wish I had something more productive to offer than that, but for what it's worth, it's a detail 90% of us will never question. ^^;

So I don't seem like I'm completely handwaving and being thoroughly unhelpful - another possible angle is to simplify. Either be related to a telecommunications mogul who invented a way to circumvent the complication, or if it's really important, make up a service that would basically hacky-sack the details intercontinentally.
