Kate was stretching backstage, waiting for the prior match to end before her next bout. She was quite excited to be coming back to LAW more often, the audience for pro wrestling was different from other combat sports, and the reception fighters were getting here, which used to put her on edge when she was new, nowadays she found it quite invigorating. And she figured today they'd be particularly lively with the arrival of new talent that Kate herself would have the honour of testing in her first match, though she did not know much about the woman she was about to face. Finally, the prior wrestlers made it backstage, and she was pointed towards the entrance as her music began to play.

Entrance Music:

"Following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Dallas, Texas! Standing at five feet and seven inches and weighing in at one hundred and sixty-nine pounds! Katarzyna Zawiślak!"

Bursting onto the scene, Kate would throw her fist up, before hyping up the already cheering crowd to get louder, something that not that long ago would mortify her to even think of doing before she'd then head down the ramp, stopping for a moment as she noticed a family near the ramp hoping to get a photo and posing for with them before giving high five to the kid and making her way to the ring. climbing the steps and making her way across the apron, pausing to point towards the entrance before slipping between the ropes and awaiting her opponent's arrival!

So the day was finally here, her long awaited LAW debut. Raya sat on a bench backstage, her eyes closed and her back against the wall. She breathed in deeply and stared down at her trembling hands, even now she still hadn’t gotten over these pre match nerves, but soon she’d be out there having no time to think or worry.

She thought back to her aunt’s ridiculous comments, imploring her to start with the young lionesses instead of leaping onto the big leagues without being ready. The thought of that made her teeth grit and her fists clench as she started taking more deep breaths. She’d show her, she’d show them all, by beating Kate tonight. It would be a massive statement of intent, showing her arrival and putting everyone on notice. It wouldn’t just be a victory, it would be total annihilation, she was sure of it. Everyone after today would know who Raya Ashberry was. Anything other than that result was inconceivable.

When it was at last time for her to make her way up there, she got up and started walking towards the arena, picking the pace up little by little until she had almost sped up to a jog, but made sure to still be walking in order to not make a fool of herself, especially for her first impression.

As soon as Raya stepped out into the arena, she was blinded by the lights and drowned out by the crowd’s noise. She had never before been placed in such a crowded environment. She again tried to keep calm by focusing on her breaths, but then gave up and would simply rush forward, aching to get into the ring. Raya could feel the stares of everyone around her as she walked up the ramp, but focused on nothing but the path as she beelined straight to the ring.
Once she slipped in between the ropes, she would try to make eye contact with Kate as she smirked in a smug fashion, trying to mask up the fact that Kate’s body at a close up was more jacked and intimidating then she’d prepared herself for.

“And secondly, from Toronto, Canada, standing at five feet and ten inches and weighing in at one hundred and sixty three pounds, Raya Ashberry!”

“You know, Kate, I kinda feel sorry for you, given the fact that you have the privilege of being my first victim here…” She said in an arrogant tone, hoping to get a rise out of the other woman in the ring before her.

Kate watched carefully as her opponent made her way onto the stage and inside the ring. From how she entered, she figured that she would not be a particularly outspoken person, but she could respect that; then, however, the woman spoke, prompting Kate to raise an eyebrow. "Those are gonna be your first words in LAW, huh? Not very original." She said, looking almost disappointed to be dealing with another loudmouth, then she pushed off from the corner and walked to the centre of the ring. "You wanna try that again, or do we get into the part when I teach you how flinging empty threats ain't worth much?"

After saying that, she'd give her arms one last long stretch, waiting for her opponent's response before the bell would ring. She would not move from where she stood, though, keeping a relaxed stance, only extending her left arm and gesturing Raya forward, as if to dare her to come at her with all she had. Really, she was hoping someone with an ego like that would get easily provoked by such a dismissive behaviour and was prepared to spring to action at any second!

“There’s a big difference between a threat and a promise, and I’m going to show you that difference over the course of the match!” Raya replied without missing a beat.

Despite the cockiness in her words, as soon as the bell rang and Kate made that gesture, Raya immediately flung herself forward, feeling disrespected by it, completely unaware of the fact that she was now playing right into her opponents hands by allowing her emotions to get the best of her, especially when the match had only just begun. Allowing herself to get goaded by other people’s actions and letting them dictate how the match went was by all accounts not the best way to start things off in her first ever appearance, but still she charged straight at Kate right off the bat, attempting to grab her and pull her down to the floor by outmuscling her.

Despite leaving herself wide open by lunging without any semblance of control, Raya was confident enough that her maneuver would work,hoping to blitz Kate with her speed and sheer strength. The idea was that if this would work, she would then quickly take advantage on the ground and trap her in a scissor hold, trying to finish things quickly. She only had this image in her mind, not even remotely considering the fact that her opponent wasn’t a practice dummy and wouldn’t just stand there and take it.

People with large egos tended to be easy to provoke. Kate learned that very early. The difference now was that instead of schoolyard bullies, she was dealing with grown women; suffice to say, she didn't feel sorry for the kids back then and even less so for the people she was dealing with now. The sooner they'd get that sort of behaviour checked, the better it would be for them and everyone around anyhow, and it just so happened that her opponent fit the mould perfectly, darting forward after the goading.

She wanted to grapple Kate, that much was clear but she had no intention of allowing this, as the woman closed in on her, she'd turn, diping low to avoid the woman's arms and try to send one hand betwen her legs and around a thigh whilest the other went over the woman's shoulder to then lift her off the ground, holding her in the air for a moment before sending her down to the ground with a side slam!

Raya realized she’d immediately made a mistake and gotten herself into a bad situation when Kate easily slipped past Raya’s attempt to grab at her, having seemingly not been fazed one bit by Raya’s own speed, and to make matters worse, Kate took the opportunity and managed to get at her thigh and shoulder in what seemed to be a split second to her before she felt herself being lifted off the ground and into the air before being slammed back onto the ground.

“Aghh!” she let out a cry of pain, having not been prepared for this at all. She was already starting to breathe heavily due to the mix of adrenaline, nerves as well as that powerful slam that she hadn’t expected and now made her aware of her opponent’s power. She struggled and tried to roll over and exit the ring. She wasn’t dazed enough that she’d forgotten the fact that the ref would start counting, but she needed a breather to regroup before Kate could do anything else while she was half stunned. It was humiliating to have to resort to this after just the first move she’d ever taken here at Law, she was well aware, but she wasn’t ready to admit yet that she was out of her league. Raya knew that if she could come back and win the match later then this slight miscalculation would be forgotten, as now that she had gotten a taste of it, she was sure she wouldn’t be caught like that a second time, and vowed inwardly to reverse the roles once she'd stabilized herself and shrugged off that horrible start.

After the slam, Kate noticed her opponent, instead of trying to get up as fast as she could and fight, decided to leave the ring altogether, making her spread her arms wide and look to the audience as if to ask, "You see what I see?" before stopping the ref before they could start the count. "Leaving already? You know, if you talk this much shit i'd expect you to at least try and back it up." She threw to her opponent, unusually mean for her, but at times she came up on bullies and other similar sorts, her manners tended to get right out the window, and so it was this time.

She then backed off from the ropes on Raya's side, resting her back on the set on the opposite side of the ring before saying. "Take your time, i have all night." With a subtle nod to the audience that might not share that kind of patience

Raya was expecting the ref to start the count but then Kate stopped them and started mocking her. She grit her teeth furiously and charged back in the ring much faster than she had been planning to, having not even taken a few seconds to recover as her opponent once again gauded her into attacking recklessly. Now she had embarassed herself and hadn't even taken advantage of that momentary break, as she still was half dazed while going back into the ring for another go at Kate.

"Fuck you!" She screamed furiously in a mixture of frustration and shame as tears welled up in her eyes and her voice cracked slightly, almost as if she was a toddler throwing a tantrum. The moment she climbed back into the ring she'd run straight towards Kate who had been resting tauntingly on the opposite side. As she got close, Raya would attempt to throw her knee up and strike it right into Kate's gut. If the strike managed to connect, she'd follow it up with a punch to her opponent's jaw, hoping that the knee would have dazed Kate enough to leave herself open for that.

Normally, Kate would not be this rude or dismissive of her opponent. She started from being a rookie and was experienced with getting dismissed out of hand, and how frustrating that was. She always thought that made an exception for assholes, bullies and whatever flavour of disrespectful shitbag thought they could say whatever came to their head with no consequence. If they could at least back up all the hot air coming out of their mouths, it was one thing, but more often than not, she found them falling short, the escape out of the ring after a single slam being a chief example of that kind of rat behaviour. But when Raya came back in the ring, something gave Kate a pause, the tears swelling up in her eyes and that crack in her voice. Was that girl just covering up some insecurity, or did she really think all she said and was just now confronted with reality?

THinking weather she should feel bad about it however proved enough of a distraction for Kate to not react quite in time as the woman charged at her, slamming a knee into her abs, getting an audible groan as she bent forward slightly right for a strike to catch her jaw, making her take a step and raise her hand up to it, whiping her face off while she began to stalk her opponent. "Good! Now that's much better." She said in a tone that could be taken as encouraging tho it would be a bit of a stretch. "Now try and keep up!" She added, raising her leg to throw a roundhouse kick at the woman's head though she'd pull it short, instead jumping up from her other leg, turning and landing on the one she threw a kick from, and if Raya took the bait, she'd send a spinning back kick to her belly!

Raya somehow managed to land the knee despite having projected it from the moment she'd stepped back in, but it seemed like her opponent had relaxed for a second which allowed to her to get that hit in and then connect her fist into her opponent's jaw.

"I'm gonna beat you into paste, bitch!" She shrieked ferociously while still breathing heavily, high on nerves and adrenaline. She was about to rush forward again when Kate suddenly threw her leg into a roundhouse kick motion which caused Raya to flinch and leave herself open as she threw her arms up to protect her head instinctively which left her belly wide open for Kate's spinning back kick to send her tumbling backwards.

"Unngh! Ow..." Raya grunted in pain and nearly fell backwards, struggling to regain her balance. She clutched her stomach as the tears welled up again, but this time in pain rather than shame. However, she clenched her fists and moved forward again, refusing to give in for a second time. She'd rush towards Kate and feint another knee strike, but would then move to quickly try and wrap her arms around Kate's head in a facelock and attempt to drive her down into the mat with a DDT!
