"In..."
Clara remembered this morning as she woke up in her hotel room. She woke up early, wanting as much time as possible to feel the importance of the day ahead of her...and to try and calm her nerves before she drove to the Colosseum. She went to wash her face with cold water, to jolt herself awake...
...but, just for a moment, she thought her face looked a bit different in the mirror. Slightly sadder, less determined...and yet, a little bit more youthful.
Just like that, the image was gone.
"Out..."
She remembered sitting in taxi, driving over to the Colosseum, sitting in the back. In spite of the fact that she wanted to rent a car while in Italy, perhaps go a bit to other towns over, the management insisted she took a Taxi or more expensive means of transportation everywhere, in order to make the main eventer of their show look like a bigger star. She drifted briefly to sleep, and, feeling the car slowing down as they were pulling over into the parking lot, she looked out the window. They were heavily tinted at the back of the car, making it slightly more difficult to make out what was outside, and making it easier to see her own reflection.
...or rather, her old GASTER mask's.
"Huh?"
"Hm? Singorina Gaster?" the driver addressed her, looking at her from the rear view mirror, but Clara shook her head to let him know everything was alright, looking back into the tinted window to see her face, perfectly normal, if a bit nervous...
Once inside, she had greeted some of the higher ups of the company, and some of the familiar faces who were setting up the arena in the middle of the Colosseum. It was impressive at how LAW managed to restore the legendary ancient arena enough to house 10s of 1000s of people. Even if the very expensive gate wouldn't look massive, but the spectacle of wrestling within the arena where ancient Gladiators fought for glory was a sight to behold.
Soon enough, she was lead into her private locker room, leaving the Brit in peace to get changed and ready for the match. None of her rivals disturbed her in the meantime. Everything that was to be said, had been said a few weeks back, in Japan.
"...in...out..."
As Clara sat in her locker room, it was final 10 minutes to go before it was her turn to head to the Gorilla Position. With one last chance given, she decided to check her appearance in the mirror. As she was done remembering the...strange images she saw throughout the day, she was a little scared to look in the mirror...
...only to see herself, in her full attire, looking the best she possibly could before the main event for LAW Openweight title tonight.
But still...within her mind, she couldn't helped but see the unimpressive, grey-tights, pony-tailed Shadow Lord from just 7 years ago.
As she walked to the Gorilla position, she told herself that her legacy was set. No one remembered THAT Clara anymore. They remembered the woman who brought the challenge to the current Openweight champion, the woman who saved her girlfriend from the clutches of her arch enemy...
So why was it that she still felt guilt for the person that she was over 7 years ago? For the person who almost gave up on her chosen path, for the woman who almost gave up fighting after the fight got too tough?
And that wasn't all. Even if she clawed for a place back to challenge Astrid...there were still matches she lost between now and her previous title match. Naturally, she fought her heart out against the women who've done the same to her...or women she forced to do so, so she had no regrets remaining for any of those matches.
...but what if tonight was going to be another choke? She was going up against the top women of their division, in addition to the woman who has defeated her almost 2 years ago. This was absolutely going to be the hardest match of her career...
"Fuck this."
Clara rarely swore. But she was tired of this. Tired of putting herself down, especially when there was no one else who was doing so. She made herself into her own worst enemy over the past few months, thinking of the woman she was, not who she is now. She was tired of the memory lane. Bringing up the scared woman she was only fueled the self doubt...when the fact that she was already making her way to the ring in the main event in a freaking Colosseum made it clear that the scaredy cat grew into a fantastic wrestler who was going to win the LAW Openweight title tonight. To think anything less of her was to disrespect Alizeh, Yumi and Astrid, no matter how adversarial or friendly she might've been with any of the 3.
Tonight was going to be her night...and to make sure it started off right, she had a little surprise for both the crowd in Italy, and the LAW viewers at home:
The lights went out as the fog rolled onto the arena, before a different tune from even Clara's new theme song played on stage. Clara had a lot of explaining to do to get the rights to this song, especially after already putting a lot of money out to license out her brand new tune...but for tonight, this was a special occasion to use a particular song from one of the most famous men in the Britain.
David Bowie's Scary Monsters played on the arena to crowd cheers as the titantron showed Clara's signature mask...while the Shadow Lord herself walked onto the stage, wearing her signature mask. Despite the long show, the crowd still seemed to have enough energy left for the main event and even to cheer for Clara's "big fight" song. Everything helped to psyche the Brit up for the upcoming match, making her forget all the doubts she had not even a few minutes ago, as she confidently made her way down the ramp, laughing her signature maniacal laughter, before arriving at the ring, climbing onto the apron, before turning, looking at the large crowd around her...and taking off her mask, showcasing Clara Gaster, the lightweight representative in this epic 4-way match!
Finally, Clara threw her mask into the front row seats, before hopping inside the ring, spinning around as she posed like a mad scientist...before bowing to the Italian audience, as her theme quieted down.
There were a few moments of silence left...and one more participant needed to arrive to the ring. For Clara, she was the woman she NEEDED to defeat in this match to solidify her win as the Openweight champion...something that both Alizeh and Yumie would make sure was as difficult as possible for the Brit.
She looked at Alizeh with a confident gaze. She could tell, this was not the last match she would have against the greenette, whatever the result tonight would be. They had a score to settle with one another...and she herself still wanted to prove herself better of the two of them.
Yumie was another woman Clara thought she was going to need to fight one on one. She had a better luck fighting against heavyweights nowadays...and if she was going to prove to the fans that she was deserving to hold the Openweight title, even if Yumie lost tonight, she was a woman she would need to defend the belt against once more later...
...but first, she actually had to get the belt from the Champion...
