L.A.W. - League of Anime Wrestling

Meiyun Lai might have still been a Young Lioness, and she might have still been learning the ropes when it came to her wrestling training, but she felt pretty good about where she was in this phase of her career. She had partaken in an overseas excursion to World Frontier Pro Wrestling, and she had gone up against bigger names like Yunaka Rubi and Rose Gold - okay, maybe those matches didn't end so well for her, but still! She had endeared herself to plenty of viewers with her unfailing can-do attitude, her boundless energy, and her love for living things up with as many theatrics as she could get away with when she was still learning the basics. And tonight, she was going to take to the ring again, against another member of the main roster! As she stood behind the curtains, Mei balled a fist and planted it against her palm, sinking into a stance as she readied herself for whatever lay in store for her. Any time she was booked for a match was an opportunity for her to prove just how strong she really was, and she wasn't going to let one go to waste!

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Coming first to the ring, from Tokyo, Japan! At 5'6, weighing 116 pounds...MEIYUN LAI!"

"HAAAH!~" Meiyun burst through the curtains then, pumping her fist proudly in the air as the fans cheered her on. She hadn't even graduated, and she had already accrued a strong following - that thought only made her grin a little wider. That meant she was good enough to keep everyone's attention - and it was sure to drive plenty of business to her family's restaurant, too! On her way down to the ring, Meiyun slapped a few high-fives before she hopped up onto the apron and spun through the ropes. There, she rolled her neck and shoulders to get herself limbered up, but the confident grin on her face never wavered!

"So you should be back by our usual dinnertime, right? I won't need to wait or slow cook anything?" Ivy Aster heard the voice of her younger sister Hortensia coming through her phone as she waited backstage for her next match. Ivy contemplated the question, but her silence prompted her sister to continue, "I know what you and Tiki say about not overlooking any opponent no matter their reputation, but like, you know what I mean. If nothing weird happens, I can plan around you not being gone too long, right?"

"In those terms, yes," answered Ivy. "I make no promise, but a quick, clean victory is the expected outcome here."

"And I know you'll do just that!" Hortensia cheered. "Kick her butt, Ivy! You know I'm rooting for you!" The called ended, and a couple minutes later, the Brit heard her music coming on, prompting her entrance into the arena.

Ivy walked down to the ring at a brisk pace, conscious of her desire to not keep Hortensia waiting on her with a finished dinner, even if she knew in the back of her mind that the few seconds she'd save by doing so wouldn't amount to anything meaningful. Ivy entered the ring with little fanfare, before greeting Meiyun with a slight bow, "I am Ivy Aster, let us have a good match."

Ivy was a member of the main roster, who had perfected her skills and knew her way around the ring. But even if Meiyun was still a rookie, she wasn't in the least bit perturbed by her opponent's reputation. She would only face her with a grin as she sank into a stance, balling her fist and planting it proudly against her palm. No matter how tough her opponents were, it'd just prove to everyone how strong she really was when she fought through the odds and overcame them nonetheless! "You've got it!~" the Hakka girl cheered, nodding her head. "I'm Meiyun Lai, and I'm gonna prove myself as the strongest wrestler in the world some day! I'm not gonna hold back - so be ready!"

*DING DING DING*

Sure enough, Mei wasn't going to waste any time in throwing herself headlong into the fray. The moment the bell rang, she would charge toward Ivy - and, as she put down one foot, she'd pivot around on the other to try and connect a roundhouse kick right off the bat, riding off the momentum of her strides! Mei wanted everyone to see she wasn't going to let the odds slow her down!

"Don't worry, I will be," Ivy said in response to Meiyun's call to be ready. She thought back to her earlier phone call with her sister. Probably one of the only ways that this match could go wrong was if she let herself get caught off guard and got herself subsequently punished for it by the Young Lioness.

As soon as the bell rang, Meiyun charged in until she was close, and then planted her foot into the mat. It was a pretty badly telegraphed attempt that Ivy would not let herself get by. The Brit bolted backwards into the ropes, rebounding back once the Chinese girl's kick had struck nothing but air. Ivy would counter by using her momentum to leap forward and drive her knee into Meiyun's chest.

Once that connected, Ivy would grab Meiyun by her top to keep the restauranteur from falling down. She would throw a hook downwards at her jaw, and then pull the brunette back up into an elbow as Ivy brought her arm back across her body. After rattling Meiyun's head around with strikes, Ivy would follow up on that by lifting the Lightweight upside down before dropping her with a Brainbuster.

Meiyun had it all laid out in her head. She'd come out swinging, hitting Ivy with a kick that was just as flashy as it was devastating - inspiring cheers from the fans and groans and winces of sympathy in equal measure, and proving she could both hit hard and look great doing it! She could just imagine the resounding crack of her foot planting against Ivy's jaw, the crunch of her joints as her neck snapped backward, and the rumble of the canvas under her feet when Ivy went limp and dropped beneath her with a thud...which was why it proved so disappointing when that kick swept up through the air, in a sharp, clean, and well-practiced arc, and hit absolutely nothing.

"...Huh?" Meiyun blinked a few times, looking up at the air, and there a frown came to her face. But she only had a brief moment to contemplate the situation before Ivy bounced back toward her off the ropes, slamming her knee into her chest! Crying out from the surge of pain as her balance gave way, Meiyun began to fall backward - only to be halted in place as Ivy grabbed her and pulled her up into a series of strikes that sent her head cracking to the side one way and then the other, spittle trailing from her mouth at every direction it turned. The world had already begun to spin in circles around Mei by the time Ivy's barrage stopped; her eyes gazed off wearily into the distance as her head spun and she dangled limp from her hands. But Ivy still wasn't done, considering Ivy proceeded to haul her up and drop her directly onto her head!

As Meiyun made a hard landing against the canvas, the fans groaned and winced at the thought of how much it had to hurt. Indeed, the Young Lioness's face had contorted into a grimace as she fell to her side motionless, clutching at her throbbing head as she hissed and groaned. Occasionally, a shudder ran through her body, but she was in no shape to get up any time soon.

Ivy's counter and subsequent combination worked perfectly, ending in a Brainbuster that left Meiyun reeling. Normally the Brit would follow up with one of her signature submissions here, but what she saw gave her pause. The Young Lioness was twitching on the mat, her body shuddering from the pain her head was in as a result of the slam.

Ivy's training told her that she had not done enough to go for a pin, but her instincts told her that Meiyun was not breaking out if she tried. Not one to drag out a match, Ivy would sit on the brunette's chest, grab her legs, fold them up, and hold them under her arms, and then the purplette would pin Meiyun's shoulders down under her knees for an attempt at a quick finish.

Mei thought that she would be able to open this match strong, catching Ivy off-guard with a burst of offense right from the bell - but her plan had backfired on her. Ivy not only managed to intercept her blow, she had countered it, grabbing her by the leg and reeling her in for a quick flurry of strikes that knocked her head left and right! And when she finished that off with a brainbuster, it left Meiyun laid out on the mat, groaning and groggy; her whole body felt numb, and the weight of fatigue had set into her muscles. She seemed like she was in the perfect position for Ivy to move in for the kill.

When Ivy's weight came down on top of Meiyun's chest, she let out a groan as the air was pushed out of her lungs under her weight - and Ivy would soon follow that up by yanking her legs into the air, folding her body in half backward! It was a dominant, humbling pin that left Meiyun's crotch on full display, garnering cheers not only for the sight of her shorts tightly hugging the contours of her groin, but from how confidently Ivy had managed to dominate her foe. If this pin counted, it would perhaps be her quickest victory yet - Mei had barely even put in any offense!

"One!"

But it was right then that Meiyun shook the cobwebs out of her head - and her teeth clenched in a defiant grimace. No, it couldn't end this quickly - she knew she was better than that, and she had to put up more of a fight! Seizing up with defiance, she went to kick out with both her legs, trying to wrest them from Ivy's clutches!

Yeah, I should've just listened to my training, Ivy thought as Meiyun kicked out of her pinfall attempt. It turned out that the opening combination that she had landed was not enough to keep the Young Lioness down for a pinfall. Ivy was pushed back up to feet by Meiyun kicking out, but she did still have a hold on the brunette's legs.

Ivy would release one of Meiyun's legs in order to grab her other leg with both hands at the ankle. Then she would wrap her legs around the Chinese girl's thigh as she dropped to her back besides Meiyun. With all four limbs controlling one leg, Ivy would wrench Meiyun into a devastating Knee Bar. "I believe you should have stayed down for the pin," Ivy stated, "you are not ready to face me."

Meiyun might've gone down, but she wasn't out - she wouldn't go out! Not with her attitude, anyway! Even if she was up against a main roster member, she wasn't going to let that slow her down at all. She had to keep up the fight, no matter what it took! Her burning spirit would be enough to carry that - and the whole arena would cheer her on for the defiance she showed!

As Meiyun heard the cheers, she looked up, smiling a little wider as she puffed out her chest with pride. However, it was only a moment later that she realized she had neglected the fact that Ivy still had her legs - and that would prove to be a lethal mistake. Suddenly, Ivy began to twist her leg over, forcing her joints into a painful arc!

Suddenly, the surge of pride that Meiyun felt running through her was overtaken by one of pain! She threw her head back with a loud scream as it rippled through her leg and up her spine, and she fell flat on her back. But Mei still wasn't about to let that stop her. Gritting her teeth, she would reach out behind her to grab for the canvas, trying to haul herself closer to the ropes in the hope of getting a rope break!

When Ivy locked in her Knee Bar, she had been expecting something of a quick submission from Meiyun. The purplette knew her own power, and the Lioness had also seemed to have been brought near to her limit from her initial combination she opened the match with. Though now Ivy was wondering if she had possibly overestimated how badly Meiyun had actually been hurt by the Brainbuster.

All this to say that Ivy found her patience being somewhat tried as Meiyun began clawing for the ropes. Granted the match probably wasn't even at the one minute mark yet, but Ivy didn't think her opponent would show this much resilience, and she had promised Hortensia that she wasn't going to keep her waiting on dinner. And damnit she was going to keep that promise, so she needed to put Meiyun away quickly as possible.

With Meiyun reaching up past her head to crawl towards the ropes, Ivy got an idea. She would roll over, turning from under Meiyun's leg to over it, and then Ivy would propel herself forward on top of the brunette's body, attempting to plant her breasts onto the Lioness's face. The Brit would then grab at Meiyun's wrists, trying to pin her arms down above her head. With Meiyun's leg beyond hooked, being folded up against the mat besides her body, Ivy would use her legs to wrap around the brunette's other leg to pull it down. Trying to create a sort of vertical Grapevine to combine with her Breast Smother Pinfall attempt.
