Ugh. A standard match. Boring.
Dizzy had been a part of wrestling culture her whole life. She was the daughter of a wrestler who’d traveled to shows worldwide. She’d had birthday parties surrounded by wrestlers in wrestling rings after wrestling shows. She even told people she was born in a wrestling ring - not remotely true, but it made for an excellent conversation starter.
But all that time, and she still didn’t understand why anyone would willingly do a standard match. Even if they were a hentai freak like her, it was like going to an ice cream parlor, seeing a hundred flavors, and still going with vanilla. There were so many unique matches, so many crazy variations, so many wild ways you could do things between the ropes; why would people want to see anything ‘standard’?
It was just one of many questions Dizzy pondered in the gorilla position as she slipped into her
, sitting around and waiting to be called for her match after the commercial break. She had a lot on her mind, actually, with the last few weeks being some of the busiest she could remember. The biggest thing, of course, was moving out of her mother’s apartment and finally getting her own place.
It wasn’t perfect - for starters, it was just down the street from her mother’s, and she would’ve liked a bit more distance. It was a studio, kind of cramped, but just the right size for her, and it was slick and clean and modern. Most importantly, though, it was hers, or at least as much as anyone her age could call something theirs these days, and it gave her something she had been craving for the longest: Privacy. 100%, real privacy.
Now, she just had to figure out what to do with that privacy. She had a few ideas, but nothing solid. Not just yet.
She was pondering possibilities when one of the crew gave her a little nudge in the shoulder, the cue she’d been waiting for. Dizzy hopped out of the chair and made her way toward the entrance with plenty of pep in her step, then stood outside the curtain and waited for her music to start.
3…2…1…
Her new
came blasting out a moment later, serenading the audience as she made her way out of the curtain. It was a far cry from the Linkin Park she used when she started out, but she felt it was a little more fitting with her attitude these days. Happier, bouncier, with that psychedelic vibe she dug. Plus, it was named after her. She couldn't resist.
Dizzy made her way down the ramp, waving to her fans, all smiles. She could see a few awkward glances her way, and she already understood why - her time in LAW had pretty much established her as a hentai talent, so putting her in PG-13 fair was awkward. But then again, her first match had been standard, too, and she’d manaed to make that a pretty sexy affair. Maybe she’d have the same luck tonight?
It was what she was hoping for. Eager to get this started, she slid in under the ropes, popped to her feet, and made her way over the far corner, when she leaned against the turnbuckle pads and got in some last minute stretches.

Inside one of the locker rooms of the backstage, Touko was warming up for her debut match by doing Tai Chi. She was squatting in a horse stance, legs spread wide, and stretched her hands. The petite martial artist smiled serenely, presenting an aura that carried confidence and calmness. It was time for her debut. It took a long time to get into the roster - and a recruiter, whose wife was in need of a tai chi instructor - and she wouldn't be letting this go into waste. It was time to show the world the power of her Butterfly-style. After tonight's match, everyone, including her own family, could see how awesome her style is... and how badass she is. Who knows, perhaps after this match, she could even sell her Butterfly-style instruction course to the poor bloke she was going to pummel tonight.
As she moved on to stretching her legs, a knock on the door was heard, before a stagehand stepped through the door to inform Touko that it was time for her match.
"Miss... "Dojo" Papillon, correct? The commercials are nearly over, so it's time for your ma-", the stagehand began before being silenced.
"Time is like water, young one. It flows down from a spring until it reaches the great ocean. If one hurries too much, they will not see the river", Touko said, smiling serenely, trying to create a sense of profoundness. The stagehand looked a bit confused, blinking a couple of times at the message that was more than likely too deep for him.
"I... see... well, anyways, you have two minutes to get ready for your entrance. Miss Belti is already making her way down the ramp. Since you're making a debut, please allow me to show the way", he bluntly said. Touko let out a chuckle and stood straight. She checked herself from the mirror and tightened the bow on her back a little.
Touko's attire
She then crossed her hands behind her back like an old master.
"Very well. The bear looking for salmon should follow the river, after all", she smugly smiled as she followed behind the ever-confused stagehand to the ramp, believing she was already making an impression. UMvC3 - Theme of Iron Fist
When Touko's entrance music hit, she jumped out from behind the curtains and performed a horse stance, moving her hands in a coiling dragon strike flow, kicked into the air, before settling down into a half-horse stance with arms spread wide, palms up. Presentation, Touko thought as she began walking down the ramp, arms akimbo. That was the most important thing a true martial arts master knew to practice. The audience seemed at least a little excited, as a new wrestler also being a martial artist would be interesting. The petite girl high-fived a few people along the way, but didn't seem to notice the awkward looks of some people, who knew who she was up against. Reaching the ring, Touko first jumped up to the apron and then over the ropes, landing on her feet, striking a crane pose.
Touko walked up to the centre of the ring and karate bowed to the audience, then to the referee, and then, to Dizzy, now getting her first good look at her opponent. The girl was about the same size as her. Perfect. This meant she had nothing to worry about in terms of strength.
"Poor girl. I can sense an imbalance of qi in you", Touko said to Dizzy while smiling in a serene - and now slightly smug - fashion at Dizzy, "your spirit feels very corrupted. Allow me to show you how to purify it."
In truth, Touko really couldn't sense any qi. She had only said that to sound profound and confident, though she had no idea "corruption" was surprisingly apt at describing Dizzy's interests. However, the petite martial artist didn't say anything else, and walked up to her corner. There she took a deep breath to calm herself down and did a few punches into the air to do final warmups, before ending it with a kick transforming into a standing split stretch, which caused a few impressed whistles from the audience.
"I'm so much like Master Miyagi..."
The Master of Buttefly-Style smugly thought inside her head as she stretched her right leg in the standing split position, before settling down for the fight.

So, this match had been sort of a last minute thing, put together without too much of a head’s up, which meant that Dizzy hadn't had the chance to really look into her opponent’s history or anything. Not that she honestly would’ve if she did have the time, but still.
As such, she had little to go off of. Just her opponent’s name and her nickname - ‘Dojo’. That one raised an eyebrow when she’d first heard it. She knew what a dojo was, just not why a person would go around calling themselves that. Her own nickname was just a shortened version of her real one, since people kept mispronouncing the full thing.
Well, when her opponent’s music started up and the woman herself came out, it all made a bit more sense.
‘Karate Kid’. That was the first thought that came into Dizzy’s mind as the woman made her way to the ring and showed off her poses and stances and slick strikes along the way, even pulling off a jump over the ropes that likely would’ve broken Dizzy’s neck if she’d even attempted it. It looked a little silly to her eyes, but she could tell the woman was 100% dead serious with this stuff, which was a wee bit worrying for someone who had gone their life without throwing a single punch before she came to LAW. At least they were around the same size, that was new.
Cute, though. Dizzy liked the poodle curl look, she wished more girls rocked that. And a nice, tight butt. It made her wish this was that sort of match, but oh well. Missed opportunities.
She had started to fantasize a little when Dojo came out and addressed, talking about…Dizzy had no idea what she was talking about. An imbalance of ‘qi’? She looked down at herself, confused, as if that might make some sense of what she’d said. It didn’t.
”No, uh, I think my spirit’s fine. Grazie, grazie.” She playfully waved it off, smirked. ”If you want to have a spiritual experience, though, I might be able to work something out after the match.”
She wasn’t sure that one would land, but she threw it out there anyway, as she retreated back to her corner and bounced on her heels, getting her blood flowing. The bell rang soon enough, and she came out of the corner with her arms raised, closing in as she circled the ring. She really had no idea what to expect here, so she figured it was best to stick the meat-and-potatoes.
She closed in, lunged forward, and tried to lock horns with her opponents, hoping for a collar-and-elbow tie-up.

Touko smiled smugly when she heard Dizzy's comment on "working out a spiritual experience after the match", its actual meaning flying over her head. Clearly, Touko thought to herself, she had swayed the younger woman as a potential student - at least for the Qi Cultivation Instruction DVD sets she'd sell in the future! Perhaps she could amaze the young woman even more in this match, so that the spiritual session could be even more constructive!
When the bell rang, Touko walked out of her corner, or rather, circled the Italian while doing slow tai-chi moves with her hands. Though it wasted her energy, Touko did it partially to mesmerize her opponent - and partially just to seem more mysterious to the audience. However, as Dizzy closed in, Touko took a karate cat-stance, readying herself for the eventual contact. And when Dizzy lunged forward, her hands raised, so did Touko. Within seconds, the two petite wrestlers were tied up together in a collar-and-elbow tie-up.
Dojo pushed, but much to her surprise, found that Dizzy's strength seemed to be somewhat equal to hers. Then again, it was to be expected from a person with her body. Even Touko could tell she had been trained. A short sign of worry showed up on Dojo's face, before she tsk'd and gave Dizzy a more confident and smug smile. "Not bad, young girl! You seem to know the minimal basics of the royal oak stance!", the Japanese-American commended the Italian, "Although as the proverb says, the oak tree crumbles when it meets a beetle. What it means..."
Touko pushed a bit more, hoping to push Desdemona on the defensive a bit. However, before she answered what the proverb meant, Dojo suddenly let go, sidestepped a bit, and released a powerful knee shot right into Desdemona's midsection. "KIAI!", Touko yelled as she felt her knee sinking into Desdemona's midsection, "It means something like that!"
Touko didn't waste any time. She had already spent enough energy by accepting the tie-up. Dojo grabbed Dizzy by her arm, and Irish whipped the girl towards the ropes. When the girl would rebound from the ropes, Touko would try to knock her down to the mat with a calf kick.

…okay, what was Dojo doing?
Dizzy had never taken martial arts, but she’d seen plenty of martial artists in the ring while watching her mother’s matches. Nine times out of ten, they did their fancy martial arts stuff, and then her mother kicked their heads off, which was always kind of funny. She’d seen it happen enough that she had a good idea of how they worked.
This, though, was new. And weird. Dojo was doing these strange poses and moves that looked like some sort of interpretive dance, and Dizzy would be damned if she had any clue what any of it was supposed to mean.
Whatever it was, it didn’t help when the two of them clashed in the tie-up, and Dizzy got a rare sensation: pushing up against someone and holding her ground. Dojo wasn’t weak by any means for their size, but she was happy to see that she’d progressed enough that she could keep her own footing in a situation like this. Despite herself, silly as it was, she couldn't help but smile.
That smile faltered a touch when Dojo spoke again. Blinking, Dizzy tried to process what she said, with absolutely no luck. ”So…am I the beetle or…”
Dizzy didn’t get an answer. Instead, she got a knee.
The strike slammed into her gut, bending her over and knocking the wind out of her. The next thing she knew, she was sent off on a hard run toward the ropes at full speed, and when she bounced off and came running back, a kick was waiting for her.
”Nope!” Dizzy ducked low and let it pass by overhead, narrowly avoiding the hit, then hit the ropes again. When she came back to Dojo again, she was ready with an attack of her own, as she leaped up, turned her body sideway, and tried to slam into her with a crossbody.

"She dodged it?!"
For a second, Touko was genuinely surprised at the fact Desdemona had dodged her calf kick. The girl was far more nimble than she had thought, even if her proverbs seemed to fly over the girl's head. However, there wasn't too much time to wonder about it. As Dizzy bounced off the ropes and came running back, Touko had had barely enough time to fix her stance. When Dizzy leapt into the air, Touko could only receive the Italian's sideway body as it fell on her.
However, much to Touko's own initial surprise, her bow-and-arrow stance had stopped the woman from tumbling backwards, and she was now holding the Italian girl sideways in her arms. Touko definitely wasn't expecting this, as she could usually barely lift a girl her size - but Dizzy had now unwittingly done that work for her. Rather predictably a second later, Touko felt her arms growing weaker, as Dizzy was just barely lighter than her, and she dropped the Italian back first on to her right knee.
"Phew...", Touko sighed from relief, before remembering Dizzy was still folded over her knee. A rather smug smile grew on Papillon's face as she realized she was still in charge. She raised her hand in the air. "As the proverb says, firewood isn't lumberjack's friend", Dojo said a nonsensical sentence in rather serene fashion as her palm fell on Dizzy's exposed stomach for a painful slap. After that, she rolled the girl off her knee and stood up, wiping off sweat from her forehead.
Touko decided to keep up the good flow she had. She approached the downed Italian, who still seemed a bit out of it. Touko grabbed the girl by her leg and arm before dragging her closer to the nearest corner. Once she was close enough, Touko climbed up the cornerpost to the top rope. There, she stood up, and looked down at the Italian lying in the mat, planning to try going for a diving knee drop, this time aimed at the Italian's chest. Though before she did that, staying true to her flashy style, Dojo decided to strike a rooster stance pose with her left leg raised and her arms spread wide. These hijinks, which Touko believed looked cool, offered amusement to the auddience - and a possible benefit for her opponent's recovery.

Dizzy normally wouldn’t have used this move in a match, because it was destined to end in tragedy. She was so light that most wrestlers she tried this on would just catch her, even if she did manage to take them off guard, and it would result in her getting slammed or worse for her troubles.
But most people weren’t as small as Dojo was, so she figured it had a good chance of working. Seemed like a safe bet. So she went for it, threw her whole body into it, and…
Dojo caught. Well, shoot.
That being said, she only just managed to catch, holding her up with shaky arms for an awkward moment. Dizzy was on the verge of squirming her way out when her fellow shrimp abruptly dropped her hard across her knee, slamming her - whether she meant to or not - with a backbreaker. Dizzy cried out at the impact as the hit reverberated through her spine, sending a hot spike through her bones.
Even through the pain, she couldn't help but furrow her brow at what Dojo said, as her brain tried to make sense of the senseless words. She was starting to think this woman was getting these sayings from an AI…
Before she could ask whether or not that was the case, however, she was given a hard slap on the stomach, stinging her washboard abs and getting another yelp out of her. Dizzy hissed as she was dragged towards the corner and put in position, for…she actually wasn’t sure what for.
Confused, she looked up and saw Dojo standing on turnbuckle above her, balancing another one of her weird poses. Perfectly balanced, holding her position.
Until she wasn’t.
”Ohshitwait-” Dojo did not wait, she just came down, driving her knee into Dizzy’s chest. That hurt, felt like a hot knife poking her in the bones, and the hoarse cry she made in response was all too real. Aching, she rolled out of the ring to her feet and staggered on the outside as she clutched her blazing rib cage, trying to let the pain run its course.
