Kotomi was intrigued by the proposition she was sent not too long ago. Apparently, she had been scouted for a recorded match idea for LAW's private streaming service, where matches were pre-taped for people to watch in the comfort of their own homes. This worked well for match types that didn't need an audience filling the audio, allowing nothing but the dialogue, breaths, and pained grunts shared between competitors. Such was the case with today's match. The LAW administration wanted to frame this privately taped match with a storyline, set between two wrestlers of similar age in a college setting. As the story goes, it would follow a clash between fellow students on campus, tensions running high between a pair of classmates who could no longer settle their differences in exams, being too evenly matched in test scores, they decided to put themselves to the test on the mats instead. Both had experience with wrestling, but now it was time to put their pride on the line in a match where almost anything goes. With no one else around to spectate or regulate their match, it would all come down to who the superior grappler was. This concept fascinated the geeky bookworm, who would have been in college normally had she not chosen the path of a wrestler.

She agreed to the terms, with the only caveat that she would have no idea who her opponent would be. It left her pondering about what kind of person would also agree to such a concept, filling in the role of an academic rival. The mystery fascinated her just as much as the original idea, and so here she was, gym bag in tow as she walked around the room, mats lining the floors and walls somewhat. It wasn't as cramped as the space she was in during her match with Ryu Hiroshi, but it still felt intimate. No doubt there were hidden cameras at all kinds of angles, but there was light on the wall next to the door she entered from, signaling that they weren't recording at the moment, allowing her the chance to change into her gear. Next to that was a little scoreboard. Given the point-based system LAW had set for the match, it was obvious that the pair should have a way to keep track of who was in the lead.

After surveying the room for a little longer, Kotomi decided to get herself ready. So, she stripped down and slid her leotard on, tightening up and fitting on the rest of her gear to look dressed for the occasion before using the extra time she spent waiting for her opponent to arrive by stretching and loosening herself up.

Myriad though the concerns were when Julian opted to venture into the Japanese wrestling scene upon his controversial ouster from the world of American politics, becoming pigeonholed into certain roles was certainly not amongst them. Julian couldn't help but draw certain parallels to his own disreputable backstory once learning of the backstory of this taped skirmish given he himself was an esteemed intellectual earning straight A's and gallivanting about a prestigious school of academics only about a year or so ago. Learning that the match entailed embodying the role of the same caliber gave him reason to pause before ascertaining with his agent that his refusal would not bode well for his chances of being considered for future matchups. *...Tch...A learned scholar such as myself deserves to be banqueted with senators, not engaging in frivolous horseplay...* Julian thought to myself once the academic begrudgingly confirmed his participation. However, certain factors of the encounter inevitably made Julian eager to partake as the appointed match date approached. Unlike his bespectacled adversary, Julian requested to know beforehand who he was scheduled to square off against. The "Ito" family name catching his inquisitive attention as it pertained to a prominent family of wrestlers who have become quite the popular fixture within LAW...

...and rendering one a quaking, shame-riddled mess could serve as quite the emphatic steppingstone within his own wrestling career. An ascension he considered vital if it meant one day returning to the political landscape. Still, Rome was not built in a day, even though this Kotomi individuals humbled decimation would take little more than ten to fifteen minutes in his own conceited estimation. within an adjoining locker-room beforehand, awaiting the conformation of his foe's arrival via a text message before making his own clamorous entrance with an abrupt shoving of double doors leading into the gymnasium. A confident smirk accompanying the commanding swagger to his steps as he approached the bookworm. Julian standing across from her with folded arms and opening his mouth to speak but breathing a sigh of remembrance as he closed his eyes before opening them again. The Varsity Villain apparently having a role to adhere to for the sake of this recorded match's supposed storyline. "...*Ahem*...Consider me impressed that such a nebbish egghead like you even knew where the gymnasium was located. Today is the day we settle all grievances between us, with a scarlet letter branded upon you as irrefutable evidence as to who possesses the greater intellect. Perhaps the letter L will suffice..."
