Captain Calico Rogers [D] vs. Erin Quinn

The lights in the arena shifted to signal that the next match was soon to proceed, and the crowd began to wait in anticipation. This match was to feature a newcomer versus someone who was a fairly seasoned veteran of LAW, so it would be curious how the factor of the unknown would work into this matchup. Soon enough, the sound of lively nautical metal in the form of "Only for the Brave" spilled into the arena, announcing the arrival of the eccentric pirate.

"Introducing first, hailing from Saint Kitts & Nevis, at 5'-5" and 132 pounds, Captain Calico Rogers!"

Out onto the ramp emerged what appeared to be a small parade float, fashioned to resemble a pirate ship. The float was flanked on each side by a pair of figures dressed as pirates as another dashed alongside, waving a large red flag with an insignia of a cat's head with crossed swords which appeared elsewhere on their attires in various places. Noticeably still among all this was a single figure perched atop the float, donning a jacket, corset, captain's hat, and boots all in a matching shade of bright red. The red pirate stood at the "bow" with her chin high up and her eyes staring down her nose towards the ring. Captain Rogers has made her first landing in LAW!

As the float halted to a stop at the foot of the walkway just outside of the ring, the five pirates surrounding the float stood in a single line in front of their "ship". Calico motioned her arm forward, pointing towards the ring.

Bang!

The thundering boom of the prop cannon echoed throughout the arena, leaving the top of the float engulfed in a cloud of smoke. As the smoke began to clear, Calico, satisfied with her entrance, lept down from the float and landed on all fours before walking towards the ring. She slid effortlessly underneath the ropes to enter before circling around the ring, discarding her coat and hat to one of her crewmates before they would clear the ringside.

Soaking up the ambiance of her debut, Calico continued to circle the ring while waving her arms in the air as she waited for her opponent to arrive.

"Why? ...Why am I being paired with the weird ones now?" Erin mumbled to herself while watching her opponent's entrance. She didn't know what she had done to piss off management to deserve this. It wasn't even the gimmick and flashy entrance that she was upset with, but more the fact that there was zero chance that she was matching that. While she likely would never have agreed to anything as audacious as her opponent, she would have at least preferred to have made her entrance first as to not have to keep up with the pirate's performance. Not one to research her opponent ahead of time, the redhead was pretty much caught by surprise here. And ok maybe Erin was also a bit ticked off to be paired with someone that she didn't think would take the match too seriously.

"Alright, guess we're doing this." The redhead said out loud as it was her turn to make an entrance. Clad in her purple shorts and matching sports bra, the Irish lass bursst from backstage with a flurry of orange flares behind her. With her hand held out, she'd high five as many members of the crowd as she could before reaching the ring. She quickly hopped up onto the ring and slipped through the ropes.

As she entered the ring, Erin was met with Calico parading about and working the crowd. The redhead would quickly grab the microphone from the referee to address the pirate. "Okay! Hope you enjoyed your time in the ring. Cause it's time to throw you overboard!" Sure her trash talk might have been a bit lacking, but that was all she could think of in her brief run to the ring.

Calico’s gaze was fixed towards the entrance as she noticed the music change, signaling her opponent was making her way. Out from a blaze of orange flairs appeared a redheaded figure dressed in purple attire, and Calico curiously observed the figure as she made her way to the ring while high-fiving the crowd, drawing a smile across the pirate’s face. Interesting.

The Irish wrestler did not appear to be in the mood for the pre-match theatrics to last much longer, however, as she grabbed a microphone to challenge her.

“Huh-HAH!” Calico loudly exclaimed in response to Erin’s words. “Baroness Quinn, I look forward to our match; however I foresee that it will be rough sailing for you!”

There was no microphone in Calico's hands, but she also did not possess an ability to talk in any volume other than loud and full of bravado. But as much as she liked to talk, it was clear that it was time for the match to begin. Circling her opponent, she grabbed her eyepatch and tossed it aside, winking towards Erin with her now revealed eye.

Raising her arms up, Calico motioned to invite a lock-up with her opponent. If accepted, however, the pirate planned to pull the rug and let the redhead's momentum follow through into an extended knee.

If nothing else, Erin at least admired her opponent's spirit. They certainly seemed like they'd be a challenge. She was visibly disappointed to see Calico toss aside the eyepatch as soon as the match started. While she didn't want to be fighting against a disadvantaged foe from the start...how cool would it have been if they were actually missing an eye!?! Oh well, Erin could wait for another time to come across an eventual one-eyed opponent. Unless today's match became significantly tragic.

Erin's morbid thought hour would have to be put on hold though as it was currently ass kicking time! The redhead was eager to take the bait, unable to turn down a test of strength. Any opportunity to overpower an opponent and show off her strength was a good opportunity. Unfortunately that meant that instead of a lock-up, Erin instead was met with Calico's knee driving right into her belly. "Guuugh b-bitch..." She mumbled, stumbling back a few steps as she clutched her stomach.

The pirate’s first trick was pulled-off to perfection, as Erin was baited into the faux-lockup and received a knee crashing into her guts as payment. This being Calico's first match, she was not entirely sure what to expect but that did not mean the crafty captain would make it easy for Erin to know what to expect either.

“Huh-HAH!” Calico exclaimed in delight as she saw her opponent stumble back and clutching her midsection. The brunette dramatically twirled around and backed away from the middle of the ring until she reached the ropes, before rubber-banding her right towards Erin. The frantic patter of Calico’s footsteps dotted the mat until it suddenly stopped as she then lunged forward feet first, trying to capitalize on the early chaos of the match with a drop kick aimed towards Erin's abdomen!

Already, the match was off to a rough start for Erin. Just when she thought she'd be able to show off her strength, Calico landed a sneaky strike to her stomach. The pirate backed up into the ropes and would slingshot herself back towards Erin. By the time Calico came charging, Erin had already straightened herself out. She wasn't given enough time to anticipate Calico's intentions, but not enough to get herself out of harms way. "Shoot...too fast." The redhead muttered.

Erin quickly braced herself, getting her hands in front of her to block the blow. That didn't stop her opponent's momentum from flooring her though. "Guuugh!!" The redhead cried out as she was knocked right onto her ass. While a bit rattled after that impact, she managed to avoid most of the pain that had been coming for her.

With both wrestlers on the floor, Erin would try to make the next move. "Ok. My turn." She grabbed Calico's legs with the intent of rolling them onto their side. It was going to be tough to get her opponent to cooperate for a more intricate move right now but she was hoping to sneak in a quick ankle lock.

This was admittedly the first time for the captain to attempt any sort of rope maneuver, and she was a bit surprised how easily it propelled her. The ropes flung Calico across the ring towards her opponent, and soon the pirate found herself in a collision feet-first with Erin’s stomach.

The arena echoed with the sound of both wrestlers hitting the mat, followed by the excited cheer of the crowd. A dull pain spread throughout Calico’s back as she felt a little bit of wind knocked out of her - not enough to truly freeze her up but enough to make her wince. And just enough of something on her mind that as she tried to collect herself back to her feet she did not notice Erin grab at her legs!

“Oh!”

Instead of getting back up, Calico felt her leg jerked tightly as she was rolled over onto her side. The brunette pushed at Erin to try to free herself to little avail as she plotted another way to escape.

“Ahhh! Baroness Quinn, you are a sneaky one!”

After being knocked on her ass, Erin didn't didn't put much thought into what she was going to do next. Half of her attention was focused on a few new aches she was feeling anyway. Erin just needed to do something before her opponent was able to get up and follow up. The redhead managed to scramble to her feet and catch Calico in an ankle lock. The twist wasn't exactly too tight at first but once she had managed to affirm her grip, Erin began to really crank her opponent's foot.

"There! That'll teach ya to...use your feet?" Erin had gotten a bit tongue tied but that only made her twist a bit more! Of course Calico was starting to struggle, but Erin made sure to hold tight and not let up.

"Baroness Quinn?" Erin couldn't help but smile a bit. She was admittedly thinking of stealing and using that title now. "Hmmm...I think I like that one~" She responded. That didn't stop her from increasing the pressure on Calico's ankle though, all the while pulling their leg back further as well.

What had started out as shifty clash across the ring soon found itself halted in place as Erin - seemingly eager to corral the action to the mat - deftly maneuvered Calico into an ankle lock. The pirate was facing someone with quite a few more matches under her belt, and right now it was serving as a painful reminder!

Calico gritted her teeth and clenched her fists as she felt the twisting pain ringing throughout her lower leg and foot. She may pride herself as a fast learner, but she was admittedly no mat wizard in her debut, and her mind raced to think of a way out before the pain escalated to damage.

“Ughhh” a slight groan escaped from Calico as Erin cranked harder on her ankle, the increasing pain underscoring that she had to act fast. Defaulting to what she knew best - scrapping - she began jabbing her free foot towards Erin's knee in an attempt to kick away at her foundation.
