Background & Motivation
╚════ ᛮ ᛯ ᚮ ════╝
As the secretary of the…Doki Doki League of Champions, as Natsuki insists we name it…I am of course happy to provide information relevant to our stable and, to a, um, appropriately lesser degree, myself.
So. You will likely have heard certain rather bombastic claims from Natsuki. That’s…fine. But. Please understand that I believe honesty, even when painful, is…imperative. Usually. I suppose there are of course exceptional cases, and I don’t mean to imply a overly fastidious attachment to fact over other values but—
…I am getting carried away. So, The Doki Doki League of Champions. To be honest, the name is a total misnomer. We are complete greenhorns with virtually no in-ring experience, and what forays we have made into the combat scene have been explosively bad. I of course would be more diplomatic in expressing this to my dear friends, but the reality is we are not champions. We are not even particularly skilled. Every time we claim anything to the contrary, it embarrasses us further and makes us more of a joke. I wish Natsuki could understand this…
I suppose it is difficult to stomach the consequences of our relative lack of skill. For instance, we will not have a great number of fans. Ah, I don’t mean any bitterness towards them! Of course. Of course. Psychologically, it is quite normal to prefer winners in sports competitions. I myself… Well. Anyway, so, also, competing in rather small venues, we can expect the loser’s purse to be…not significant. Which is of course a highly rational scheme for LAW booking to maintain, though it does mean that our little crew of Lionesses may find we need to get creative in our budgeting and passtimes.
…I suppose I sound rather pessimistic, don't I? Natsuki often criticizes me for that. Well. Not just Natsuki I suppose. I suppose it might come off as rather unlikeable to have such a poor opinion of your friends. But…um. Listen. Please, I don’t. Er…have a low opinion of them, I mean. They are…remarkable people, and to call them friends is…really cool. Truth be told, I suspect they will, in good time, develop into quite remarkable performers. They are motivated in their desire for…in Natsuki’s case, personal glory and dominance, and in Monika’s case a passion for connecting with an audience, and with Sayori…Gosh. Sayori. Well. Um.
…Well even including Sayori, I anticipate I will be the weak link in the long run. My own reasons for being here I suppose amount to a certain intrigue with the artistic possibilities inherent to such a performative combat sport, which allow me to explore my interests…the occult, swordplay…the use of edged weapons in combat…mmm…ah. Y–yes, that is to say, wrestling allows me to explore many of my interests in a new way. Combat itself is an interesting problem and practice, but I don’t seem to have a great deal of natural facility for it. Even so, I want to be here for my friends, and um…And. Hm. Well. I suppose there is, of course, also additionally the um. The sex…fighting side to the company.
…Mmm…
…I don’t think I very much want to discuss that just now. Thank you.
…
…Yes, I will be leaving now. Thank you. Goodbye.

Wrestling Information

Style: Heavyweight Novice Judoka
Throws: ★★★☆☆
When, several years ago, I was deciding on a combat style, Judo appealed to me because of its emphasis on efficient use of energy. There is something appealing in the idea of moving through the world with as little impact as possible.
Throws may seem quite explosive, and they certainly can be. However, judo throws aim less to create energy so much as to direct it, in a flowing and supple way. It is…quite beautiful in the body of a master. For them, spirit and body are as one, and their violence is gentleness.
Of course, I am an oaf in these matters. A trained oaf, perhaps, but still one who stumbles around and makes a mess of things.
Signature Throws
Strikes are, of course, a significant part of Judo practice, but…they are not highly emphasized. For good reason in my opinion. Whereas throws seek to utilize momentum already in motion, a strike is an act of violence. My emphasis is on a solid guard. Just enough to keep me protected while I look for an opportunity to turn my opponent’s own momentum against her.
This rarely works out, of course, but I find the philosophy of it appealing.
Aerial Techniques: ☆☆☆☆☆
It…goes without saying that judo does not place a great deal of emphasis on aerial techniques, which in my opinion are more something developed for crowd appeal than real tactical use. That…probably sounds condescending to wrestlers much more skilled than me. Um. Well, anyway, I am large, and…clumsy, and…Yes.
Holds: ★★★☆☆
I have mentioned that the philosophical underpinnings of Judo emphasize gentleness and efficiency, but that is not to say it is an art without teeth. A good submission is a kill-move, both literally and figuratively. You can break bone and impart permanent injury, all while expending a minimal amount of physical effort. The power that entails, to be able to end someone’s life or career with such a small movement calls to mind...welll, I think it reflects nature herself in some ways. Small things tend to exercise outsized power. Take the deadliness tiny viruses, or elegant destructive potential in even a slender edged weapon.
It is an enormous responsibility to use such techniques judiciously. This is a source of significant anxiety for me. Still. It’s also…exciting. And when I have practiced these techniques under of course highly controlled circumstances, I do get a kind of…thrill when my “opponent” dips into unconsciousness.
I like to watch their eyes.
Finishers
Intense Anxiety: One of my more damaging tendencies is to…spiral. One worry lights another, and before long I have descended into imagining a hundred ways the match might go wrong, and it is difficult under such circumstances to focus on present realities. I believe this provides my opponents with an all-too exploitable way to, as Monika puts it, “psych me out.”
Clumsy Giant: I am, by the standards of most women, quite large. Not a giant per se, in spite of what Natsuki likes to say in her little profiles, but. Big. Unfortunately, in spite of my training in Judo, coordination is not one of my great strengths, which means I tend to get a bit…tripped up on my own feet, particularly when dealing with opponents who are able to move around deftly. When possible, I try to stay rooted and allow my opponents to come to me.
Defeatist by Nature: Monika likes to say that if you decide you’re going to lose, then you will. I suppose there probably is some truth to the idea that a psychological predisposition towards despair creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. I do find that my will breaks and I, after a fashion, “surrender” to the inevitable rather faster than my partners. Hm. Yes. This is probably an aspect to my personality that is less than appealing. Hopefully my friends will be able to forgive this.
