A messy debut - The Raven vs The Countess

Unread post by deus machina »

The time finally had come, and just three days after her arrival on Japan. Carol had barely settled down on her new apartment, however, her career, excitement and duty had spoken louder, like they usually do. And there she was, finally arriving at the location of her debut match: a traditional izakaya (An informal Japanese gastropub), affiliated with the LAW. Thanks to the local traffic, she arrived late, something that she hated when it happened. After rushing to the "locker room" (Which was basically one of the two female bathrooms on the building), she quickly took off her regimental uniform, which was being worn over her attire for this match: Her white and blue bikini.

"Most unorthodox", she thought, while staring the mirror, contemplating her reflection and the fascinating circumstances of her debut. The idea of her wrestling another woman on a pool of jello, in front of a foreign crowd, on a far away island from her own, for a prestigious wrestling league, was certainly very thrilling to her. However, Lady Talbot knew that she had to control her usual enemy, anxiety, in order to perform an honourable and good match, worthy of her country and herself, both represented by her on that important night. The noblewoman then took out a bottle of ice tea from her bag and drank just a good sip from it, relaxing as she looked back to the mirror, to see herself giving a confident look.

- Come on! You were supposed to have entered five minutes ago!- Shouted a League's employee at the bathroom's door, impatient with the newcomer. However, to his surprise, just after he said that, The Countess crossed the door, ready for the fight.

- Once more unto the breach! - She whispered, to herself, performing her tradition of always quoting this Shakespearean phrase before a match.

A loud crowd received her, as she passed by it, using a narrow way through it, to reach the battlefield: a small rectangular pool filled with green jello, separated from the crowd by a small fence made up of a chain, suspended by some stakes from the floor. Carol could barely hear entrance song playing and the announcer saying her name, because of the excited and, surprisingly, large and noisy crowd. Most of the shouts coming from the cheerful spectators, who also whistled, were incomprehensibly to her, despite the fact that the Englishwoman was fluent in Japanese, because of the cacophony of the environment. However, as she entered the pool, shivering a bit due to the weird initial feeling of stepping on that colloidal surface, she concluded that she was quite happy to see the audience being sprightly on her first match on their country and on a major league. Standing there, Caroline then waited for her opponent.
