Alice Charlston VS Shimmerlace Snuggleblossom

Alice pushed the doors to the aisle open and stood i. The doorway with her hands on her hips for a moment before strutting confidently down the aisle. After a couple of recent victories, she was confident in her ability to best whoever LAW threw at her. She climbed into the ring and struck a couple of poses while she waited for her opponent.

Traffic never quite stopped outside Charlotte’s roadside apartment, but if you listened through the bedroom window, you could recognize the the 5:30am peak in early morning traffic. Charlotte’s head started to ache.

“Fuck.”

After her entrance, Shimmer leaned on the second rope, leering at the audience through sunken eyes. “Top of the morning, human folk of the... eastern, uh, part of the globe!” Shimmer’d hoped for a thin crowd, but no, of course Alice Charlston would draw fans. Not shocking for a beautiful wrestler with a decent record, but—but fuck it. What did the audience matter? Even if the seats were empty, this match would mean something for her opponent. The Seelie Scion owed her best, sleep or no sleep.

More had been sketched in to say to the marks, but it got caught in some ridge along the surface of the pinkette’s brain, and the bell cut her off before she could dig it back up.

DING DING DING!

”Right…” Shimmerlace turned to her opponent with her fists raised in her best imitation of a boxer’s stance. “Let’s have at it, ah, Alice!”

Alice would circle her opponent, waiting for an opening. Shimmerlace, as the announcer had called her, seemed sluggish, almost drunken. She reminded her of the first time Alice had drunk, where she stood atop a table, hung from a chandelier, and vomited into the trunk of her car. As Alice moved forwards for a lockup, she felt obliged to check in on her opponent. “Hey, are you… alright?”

Fuck fuck fuck. If things were bad enough for her opponent to say something…Well, at least her opponent was sportsmanlike.

“I’m right as rain and fiddly as a fiddle, cap’n!” Shimmer gave a salute—or half of one, before Alice grabbed hold of her arms and forced a lock-up.

“Oop—” My, but she’s a wiry one. While there might have been stronger girls on the roster, Alice was certainly above Shimmer’s pay-grade in the strength department. It didn’t help that that Shimmer’s stance wasn’t what you would call grounded.

(And what really didn’t help was just how appealing the floodlights made Alice's tanned, exposed midriff, prompting a flutter in the interdimensional bandit’s already butterfly-addled gut)

So Shimmerlace stumbled. Thing was, though, Shimmer’d trained for a moment like this, and while her waking mind didn’t know quite what to do, her subconscious — made dominant by the lack of Zs — did. It tried to make Shimmer, drunkenly, spin her beautiful opponent into an Irish whip.

Alice would be caught off guard by the whip, but due to the sluggishness of the performance, Alice was able to regain her footing before reaching the ropes. She would run back at Shimmerlace, elbow out, to try and elbow her in the gut. If she succeeded she would deliver a chop to the back of the neck and pull her into a side headlock.

Alice went sailing past Shimmer. “Oh—" Right...Right! That was...how that was supposed to go.

“Hah-har!” The pinkette put her hands on her hips, extended her back, and grinned. That got a laugh from some of the audience—and not the usual derisive type, either. No it was genuine sounding, like they thought it was intended. Shimmer’s head started to feel light, crystal, energetic in its loopiness. That might have been the several cups of pre-match chai finally kicking in.

The crystal got shattered pretty quick, though. Alice telegraphed the elbow-blow like the match was the trans-atlantic cable, but Shimmer’s reflexes suffered lag.

“JAYSIS.” As if her tummy hadn’t been unstable enough—and then Alice added a fissure to the headache with that crack on her neck, and then...insult to fuckin’ neck-crack! She shoved Shimmerlace’s head under her armpit.

(It was all very exciting, if Shimmer was honest, and under the hold she was hiding a bit of a smirk)

“Harumph!” Shimmerlace gave an insulted sniff, then raised a finger to poke her opponent’s tit. “MA’AM!!” she bellowed, “WHEN’D YOU LAST SHOWER? Yer fuckin’ pits are raaaaaancid!”

Alice would chuckle at the pinkette’s banter. “When did you last sleep? I don’t even think I have to fight you, you’ll fall asleep yourself!” With that, she would try to switch holds, swapping to a sleeper hold.

“Not even have to...you cheeky cunt, what fuck’s that supposed—Oooh, right, sleeper hold. Pun. Hah, nice.” That one earned a moment’s pause, a nod, a roll of the shoulders. (A yawn). Well done madame Alice, point to your column.

Then came the kicking and screaming, Shimmer jumping on the mat, the arching and twisting and stumbling, the spitting and hissing and groaning and of course TUGGING at the arms constricting her neck, tamping the blood flow, making her eyes water and the world turn laughing-gas woozy.

Laughing gas made Shimmerlace think of the dentist. Would LAW provide dental care? She still wasn’t clear on that, five emails into that discussion. Shimmerlace was comfortable in the dentist’s chair, and the iguana in his bird cage was looking at her real friendly-like. Her eyes were awful heavy, though, and her back ached, and her whole face seemed kinda numb, and...

The ref raised Shimmerlace’s limp arm. It dropped.

“ONE…!”

A snore croaked in the Seelie Scoundrel’s constricted windpipe, loud and long. Even the ref paused, frowning with something between confusion and disbelief.

Alice felt terrible. Her opponent had clearly gotten no sleep and was barely able to think, but Alice had still attacked her like any other opponent. As Shimmerlace went limp in Alice’s arms, she would lay her opponent gently down on the mat, releasing the hold, but grabbing her opponent’s legs, so that if she was still awake Alice could attempt a matchbook pin. The referee lifted Shimmerlace’s arm again and let it fall to the mat. “TWO!”

You can counter a sleeper hold by placing both feet on the turnbuckle and then applying a firm push. The force applied at your opponent's upper body will likely be sufficient to topple them if you can get at least the second turnbuckle.

The useful insight from the dredges of Shimmer’s mind came when she was no longer in a sleeper-hold, but she was only vaguely aware of the fact, so in her dream she aimed her feet right at the ropes that had materialized suddenly underneath an extremely annoyed gray-haired wrestling coach, and in reality she bent and pumped her legs at Alice’s face.

The movement would wake the wrestler, but only about halfway through the violence.
