Boredom (for DarkMagician)

Unread post by CaptainL »

Viper Hoshiwara hadn't been in that many matches in LAW so far - but the ones she had been in had been enough to make for an imposing presence. So far, she was three for three, and all her matches had led to rather resounding defeats for those unfortunate enough to be in the same ring as her. She was developing a reputation as a fearsome foe, and few wanted to so much as go near her.

But, for tonight, that fear would work in her favor. It meant that, when Viper emerged from backstage in the middle of a show, when the ring was clear, no one was particularly intent on stopping her. Even as she passed by the security guards, a blank, unimpressed stare was enough to get them to back down. The next thing anyone knew, she had climbed into the ring. Wordlessly, she held out her hand, her expression not changing from the flat, blank look characteristic of her. She didn't need to say anything to get her point across, though, and a microphone was placed in her hand. Viper may not have been a woman of many words, but there were some things she had to say - and no one was going to deny her the chance to say them.

"Mm." she muttered flatly. "You know. I've been in a few matches so far. They tended not to end very well for my opponents. I don't think I need to remind you of that." Her voice throughout was flat and monotone, almost as if she couldn't find any joy even in victory.

"You'd think I'd be excited, but...eh. To be honest, I'm just bored." She shrugged her shoulders. "You wanna know why I got into wrestling? It was because, when I was struggling to feel anything, it was the only thing that gave me a reason to care. When your life is dull and grey and...meh, there's a certain appeal that comes with an adrenaline rush. With risking your life."

"And I just haven't gotten that out of the opponents I've had so far. To be honest, I have to ask. Is this the best LAW can do? Because if so...you really suck." The boos started coming, but Viper didn't care, continuing on her emotionless tirade. "No one's even stood a chance against me. I don't get excited wrestling any of you. It's just...boring."

"Where I got my start," she continued, "people weren't afraid to let loose. To dive onto barbed wire, or hit each other with bats, or get slammed onto thumbtacks or light tubes. That's the sort of thing that made me feel alive. Nowhere but when I was so close to death. And where is that now? Is everyone in LAW too afraid to step up to the task? Because if it's anything like I've seen so far, I wouldn't put it past you at all. If none of you can stand up to me, no wonder you're too hopeless to face me on my own terms. Unless..."

She looked back up at the ramp, pausing for a moment to let things sink in. "...unless there's someone back there who can give me what I've been missing all this time. To meet me in a hardcore match, and to have the willingness to risk everything, to get that adrenaline pumping through my veins and to fuel the pumping in my heart. Because otherwise, you're not giving me reason to care. And if that's the case, I don't know why I should bother. So what's it going to be?"

Irene was heard of the victories Viper had had, even spectated the last one herself. She was a cunning opponent for sure. Viper had stolen the poor girls victory past from her hands by using that green mist she hid in her mouth. Irene, as a person, was not a girl who would sit there and watch when injustice happens before her eyes. Her opponent had a chance to achieve victory before she got hit by the mist. She wanted to challenge Viper back then.

Her rather impressive score of three out of three since her debut was quite impressive yet she was a cheap shot who rather stole the other girl’s victories. Her tyranny over the girls she had squashed so far was resounding and yet she hadn’t been get what she deserved so far. Irene would love to make Viper taste her own medicine in a hardcore match where such trickery is not only allowed but also promoted.

Moreover, the idea of using weaponry was not something Irene was stranger to either. Her past–even though she had putted that life away- where she was an active member of a biker gang, it was in her everyday life. Fight with whatever at hand was one setting she had longed for since she had made her debut into the L.A.W. She also saw it as a way to retribution which she hold against her past. She would be the one to put Viper down to redeem herself from sins of her past.

Irene emerged from backstage with a microphone in her hand. She would raise her hand pointing at Viper indicating her interest towards her recent offering. She said “That girl deserved the victory but you stole it right from her grasp, Viper!”

She continued to walk down the ramp heading towards to the ring Viper was waiting in.“Do you hear me Viper? You are a cheating fraud who needs to be put down.” She walked down until she had Viper on the ring looking down at her while she stood still near the ringside.

“You said that you wanted to feel something when you got into wrestling and you are bored. I will be more than happy to grant you your wish. But let me tell you this, it won’t be pleasant for you, you may not be able to find whatever you seek but only pain and suffering.” Lifting her fist towards Viper, she said “Well, your boredom shall come to an end, Viper! I accept your challenge but not as an opponent but your executioner.”

Not long after she had finished her thought, Viper's challenge was answered. Even in giving a promo Viper seemed as bored and aloof as usual, but that was hardly the case for the woman who came from backstage in response, her own cries more passionate as she denounced Viper's prior conduct. The green-haired girl looked up, seeing the source of the noise. She raised her eyebrow curiously when it came to being called out for how she'd finished off her last opponent, however.

"Who?" Viper muttered. Although she didn't have the number of victories to her name as she might have hoped for, she was still having trouble discerning one match from another. They all tended to blend together when she'd found it so easy to crush and dominate anyone in her path, and when one factored in her inability to derive enjoyment in much of anything, it was no wonder Viper had trouble telling her bouts apart; all she knew was apathy. But a moment later it clicked for her.

"Oh. That's right," she said, thinking back on how she had defeated one Clarissa "Pulse" Rosita. In truth, Viper had perhaps grown cocky in her victories and underestimated just what her foe was capable of, not that she'd ever admit it. But the doctor had given her more of a challenge than she had expected, and for a moment, it looked as though she was about to end Viper's heretofore undefeated streak - just before Viper had unleased another tactic in her arsenal, blinding her with green mist before she finished her off. It had been a result that angered many - but to Viper, it was just another win in a long string of them as she cut her swathe through LAW.

But it still wasn't enough for her. And that was what had led Viper to where she was in this ring now, seeking a match that would truly test her. That could make her feel alive. And now, she had an opponent who was willing to face her.

Coming up to the side of the ring, Viper leaned against the ropes, watching Irene from her vantage point. "I almost forgot about her. The one who actually stood a chance...too bad she wasn't prepared for me." She shrugged, not even showing a shred of sympathy or regret for her actions. But, at the same time, if this girl was so committed...maybe she would show that in the ring. "I have to say, though. I like you. You've got spirit. If you can bring forth a fraction of that in the ring, maybe we might be able to make this work..." She took a step back, drawing a knife out of her pocket and waving it back and forth in the air, before she ran her tongue along its edge, her eyes locked on Irene. After finishing her threatening display, she stood back, turning the point of the knife toward the interloper. "That is, if you're willing to rise to the challenge,". "But if you want to be my executioner? Bring it on...maybe I could use one." She nodded to Irene. "We'll meet again next week, and maybe then, we can see if you can bring me what I've been missing."
