Hi everyone! I've known about this site for a while and finally decided to make an account, but I feel kinda stuck on how to start. Any tips for making my first character? I feel like there's just so many choices to make it's a bit overwhelming.

Welcome to LAW, first of all! That's a bit of a broad question, but there are resources available to help. [mention]Ichi[/mention] put together a great guide here that should cover most of your bases.

I guess the first question is, do you have a reference image in mind that you want to use for your character? That's often times a good place to start. Several of my characters have been adaptations of existing characters, or else based on whatever context clues I could glean from their design. It can help to take a design and think of how it might suggest certain character traits, or how to make design elements make sense for the character.

Thanks for the response and the guide! As for the reference image, I think that's what I'm struggling with the most. There's so many choices I can't really think of just one (plus it feels like everything's already taken lol). You've been pretty helpful so I'll get to work on finding one and see where that leads.
