The site sometimes gives errors when editing posts with certain characters. Testing to see if certain characters are invalid so I don't screw up a character profile. (Specifically, I want to test out if certain IPA characters will give errors.)

Out of topic, but as a linguistic nerd, you used the right hiragana and the correct ipa for the name and pronunciation. But for the kanji, I'd personally prefer "川田 るい" since I rarely see Japanese people with the name Rui uses kanji for their names.

Thanks! I appreciate that.
Also, do you know why most people named Rui usually don't use kanji for their name? I'd be curious to know the reason, if there is one.

Well it's mostly personal preferences. Whether to use the hiragana or kanji, it doesn't make any difference but I often see these type of names being used in hiragana. Doesn't mean kanji usage are little though. But if you'd like to use the kanji, I'd suggest 類 instead.
