A thought...

Been thinking lately...while I love big storylines and stuff, I feel like it's not a good idea to put ALL my effort into creating large storylines and stuff with ALL of my characters. I feel like I should designate some to be the main cast of people I use while others can be used for other, more enjoyable things...or just as tools to further other goals of mine.

I feel like I might restructure my roster by having a set amount of "main characters" and then using everyone else as fodder and placeholder characters for things like non-important matches, non-story beats, and general for-fun matches. I'd like to get some feedback and thoughts from anyone else who also has a ton of characters. I don't want to give them away, but I don't think I can keep making long, drawn-out ideas and backstories for all my characters. Sometimes, I just want to do fun wrestling matches or more steamy, sexy bouts or some range in-between those two things without the need for planning out rivalries, stories, championship aspirations, etc...I love all my characters and their designs, but sometimes it can be a struggle thinking up things for 20+ OCs.

I have experienced something like this with my small roster...

Unfortunately, I haven't had a solution, just an approach, and I hope it can help you as much as it is helping me:

The best solution I found was simply to decide who I want to have my attention now and who I don't want to have my attention now. Don't plan so long term, sometimes a game or two and seeing how the match ends is more useful and entertaining to take the next step than planning the whole progress.

Also, don't fill up on threads with the same character, it helps not to get overwhelmed. But who am I to advise the latter?

Yeah, that's an approach that seems to work well for a lot of people. My caveat is sometimes it seems like "fodder character" matches also wind up being low-effort & low-enjoyment matches, which can be less than ideal. But if you're into your side cast and genuinely enjoy writing "throw away" matches, then I can't imagine what issue there'd be.

Heyo! I can relate as its something ive dealt with. Ive had a lot of luck with cycling who I seem as my 'main' characters' and who are on a 'story break' Basically to do as you suggest in offering some flexibility in just being able to do fun matches or whatever else may be fun, but also leaving the door open to potential more serious stories later on. If the circumstances/my interests at the time allow. But the main idea of that is basically having a separation of main and 'for fun' types just in my system i change em around every once in a while with only one real constant main in alizeh.
