Irish Shots! - Erin Quinn & Blaise Cameron

The punch gets another grunt from the grappler, but he refuses to behave! He twists further to ensure his freedom, until finally on hands and knees.

"Eesh..." She's gonna make him fight for reals just to get respect out of her, isn't she? And what she says after the insult basically confirms it. He has to stop joking around, being playful. He doesn't like that, and it feels foreign, but he can adapt for now. Without a word, he pushes himself more upright, thrusting his right arm upwards with an attempting uppercut aimed for her chin!

For as much as he'd like to get some respect, he's still applying some restraint. This isn't MMA; no knuckles would be colliding with her head. he sticks to the pro wrestling variety of an uppercut, leading with the bicep.

Erin quickly got her answer as she was hit in the chin. The woman was forced backwards until she caught herself against the ropes. For a few seconds she could swear she was seeing stars. "Gugh!" She cried out before catching herself. "Ok...you're not bad with trading blows." She groaned. It was obvious that she still had to be pretty careful when dealing with Blaise or she would be eating her words, or at least another punch.

The redhead brought her hand to her chin. She was hoping she didn't have a lump there tomorrow. She would just assume she'd be pretty sore and would try to pay back Blaise accordingly. "You're really askin for a beating, ya know that right?" She said with a grin. Erin wasn't exactly serious but she did plan on making sure her sparring partner was very sore in the morning.

"Still more to come," ensures Blaise. From what he can tell after that hit, he may've been right. The way to get some respect here is to be less... himself, and more just aggressive. One would think it'd be different in a spar, but it's just the opposite. In a match, he has an audience to feed on, to enjoy. That keeps it fun. Here, it's just the two of them.

He lifts to his full height and tilts his head to pop his neck. And then he's suddenly rushing in, hoping to lock his hands behind her neck in a snappy grapple and drive his knee up into her stomach! Trading blows isn't his thing. He's not a brawler. But he's gotta create that opening...

Erin was still recovering from the previous hit hit when she felt Blaise's hands behind her neck and pulling her closer. She had been in this situation enough to know what was coming next. The redhead brought her hands down to block the incoming knee. She managed to lessen the blow but even the lighter impact would still force some air out of her and cause her to cringe.

The whole situation reminded her of some of the brawls she used to get in back home. The redhead would quickly throw her head forward and try to land a headbutt, whacking Blaise in the face. If she hit him, Erin would immediately gasp. "Shit! Sorry sorry! Didn't mean to do that." She'd admit. She didn't like the use of headbutts and since they were sparring Erin would feel quite bad about going for what she considered a bit of a cheep shot.

Blaise is trying to focus, to make this exchange his entire world. It's just them, just this fight, that's all that's going on. That stinging disrespect has him bothered - more than the typical amount he gets during regular matches. It may have something to do with thinking that it's not a part of her "schtick." It's giving him an unusual drive, and he doesn't exactly like it, but it's having a result of some kind. So there's that.

When she blocks his knee, he prepares instead to club her with an overhead forearm. Only things get interrupted when her noggin collides with his face! "AGH!" He recoils, completely releasing her, and hands moving immediately to his face. She didn't hit anything easily broken - no noses, all eyeballs are accounted for - but he's definitely paused.

Despite it all, as soon as she apologizes, none of it matters. She sounds sincere, and he's not about to hang it over her head - even if he doesn't think she did anything wrong. "It's okay!," he calls from between his palms. "It- it happens!" It's on the tip of his tongue to make another joke, but he's suppressing it.

Erin was glad to hear that nothing's wrong and that Blaise wasn't upset. She took a few steps back and rests against the ropes. The redhead brought her palm to her forehead, blushing slightly now. She was a bit embarrassed that she went all out during what was supposed to just be a friendly spar. She realized that she wasn't exactly the best at going easy on someone. "Yeah...well I probably shouldn't have been so rough. It's just a spar." She admitted with a sigh. Eventually she pushed herself off of the ropes and made her way back towards Blaise.

"So...ummm do ya want to maybe practice some holds? Or should we call it quits?" Erin asked, now feeling uncharacteristically bashful. She realized that they had had a bet though and didn't know exactly what calling it quits would mean in that case. She figured if he was ok though he might want to keep on going. The teen seemed pretty determined to get the upper hand on her.

He may be fine and all, but Blaise is grumbling against his palms all the same. Headbutts suck. They have that automatic dizzying effect, on top of sometimes coming with watery eyes. This is one of those times. He has to deal with that before he lowers his hands. Ugh. Palms shift from the great scape of his face to his eyes and rub in.

"Errgh."

When they lower again, those bright blues blink a couple times to adjust. Erin didn't capitalize on it, so that's good. She's not outright vicious. Not that he would've faulted her for it anyway, but small points can add up. When she approaches him again, he immediately snaps to a ready position, hands raised to grapple with her, legs spread, eyes narrowed...

"Wha?" His head cocks to the side. "No, I'm good to keep going. Why, are you tuckering out on me? Trying to squelch on the bet?," he chides with a smirk.

Yes, yes, he had decided firmly that he'd suppress his natural instinct to enjoy a match in favor of getting a modicum of respect. That was a slip-up. He's already mentally bracing for her retort - more the verbal than physical.

"I wasn't trying to do that! I was just con...fine. If you wan't to get thrown around some more then I'm still your gal." The redhead replied. Erin was happy to see that her partner was still very much up for more. He was tougher than she had first thought. She wasn't about to let Blaise one up her though. "But I ain't going easy on you anymore alright? And when I actually break a sweat I'll appreciate you buying me a drink" Erin teased, quickly winking at Blaise. Seeing that he was preparing himself, Erin would also get ready. Not one to wait for her opponent though the Irish brawler would quickly lunge in and make the first move.

As she went in to lock up with Blaise, Erin would try to steal a page from his playbook and throw a knee towards his gut. She'd seen that it pays to at least try and surprise your opponent. What she really wanted though was for Blaise to be doubled over. For once she had a plan and was hoping to pull off a big move to knock the fight out of her sparring partner. Judging from the spar so far though it was all going to be a lot easier said than done.

Well, that retort was nothing he wasn't used to. That's good. Blaise is still resisting the urge to play into it, though. He's still on the cautious side - again, more for what she might say more than what she might do. But that's basically par for the course for him, as she's likely about to discover!

She appears to invite a lockup, and Blaise quickly obliges! He grapples with the girl, only for his tight abs to cave around her knee! "Hnnf!" He's bopped a couple inches off his boots before landing doubled over, head hanging and stunned!

"Gotcha!" Erin said with a grin as she once again proved to be a pain for Blaise. She grabbed him by the arm and went to toss him into the ropes. Unlike a couple of seconds ago, this time she planned on doing some damage in her usual style. Following a few steps behind Blaise, the redhead would stop moving as soon as he hit the ropes. She'd wait for him to rebound, eager to continue showing her sparring partner what she could do.

If Blaise continued towards her Erin would lower herself and try to just go for his waist to flip him right over herself and onto the ground. She was hoping the impact would knock the enthusiasm right out of her opponent. The redhead might have felt a little bad throwing her sparring partner around at first, but she had a bet to win and wasn't about to let herself get one upped.
