While Shizuka was watching her opponent, she was then caught off-guard by Kayla suddenly closing in and then hitting her with an elbow strike to her chest. "Uaghhh!!!" Shizuka cried out in pain as she took the hit. She staggered back as she struggled to retain her footing while nursing on her chest. But she would not let Kayla take advantage of this if she could help it.

In retaliation, Shizuka would try to swing her arm, planning to hit Kayla with a forearm smash right across her chest, hoping to leave her opponent stunned, giving her an opportunity to recover from the blow to her chest.

Kayla's eyes narrowed in a focused stare, as she would commit all of her attention to bringing her best efforts forward in fighting back against Shizuka. She could foresee her arm striking hard against her opponent even before she would land it, but soon enough the crack of her body striking the red-painted girl's was heard through the arena. A smirk came to her lips, feeling that she had turned the tables.

Of course, it wasn't over yet, as Shizuka was quick to fight back. No sooner had she taken the blow that she went to throw an arm back into Kayla in retaliation. The brunette was impressed by the stamina Shizuka had in order to react so quickly, but what was important right now was making sure she stayed out of harm's way. At the last minute, Kayla threw up her arms in an effort to prevent the hit from landing in a worse place, but even if she wouldn't be hurt, the block had snapped her out of her attention, and she was primed for retaliation.

Shizuka tried to land her forearm smash across Kayla's chest in retaliation, but it seemed that Kayla managed to bring her arms up and block the incoming strike. Knowing that she needed to do something in order to deal some damage on her opponent, the red-painted oni decided to deliver a kick right at Kayla's belly, hoping that it could leave her winded and breathless.

From there, Shizuka planned to rush towards her opponent, hoping that the kick managed to stagger her a bit so that she could deliver a clothesline right across her chest, hoping to knock her down onto the mat with her extended arm.

Kayla might have managed to block the forearm, but she was well aware she was cutting it close. She was still feeling sore from the impact, and she had to take a moment to catch her breath, shaken from the blow she had absorbed. That moment was a moment she wasn't using to evade or outmaneuver her opponent, and it would be just long enough for Shizuka to throw her kick into her stomach. With a cough, Kayla staggered forward, clutching her gut and bending over at the waist. At this rate, she thought, she would end up as red as Shizuka from all the hits she was taking there.

With Kayla stunned, she took a moment to straighten herself back to her full height - and in that time, Shizuka came in again, inflicting a clothesline across her chest that brought her down to the mat. Once again, Kayla ended up on her back, growling with frustration.

Shizuka knew that continuously hitting her opponent with her attacks would net such a result, and after hitting Kayla with a clothesline and seeing her taken down onto the mat, the red oni decided that she might as well test her luck and run towards the ropes, running past her downed opponent. From there, she would leap up onto the top rope, getting her feet on it as she planned to use the top rope as a springboard to propel her upwards so that she could jump back towards where Kayla was.

"Yoshaaa!!!" Letting out her energetic battle cry, Shizuka would try to execute a springboard elbow drop onto Kayla, hoping that the added height from the springboard would deal extra damage on her downed opponent. She hoped that her elbow would end up digging into Kayla's exposed stomach, thus dealing a tremendous damage on her.

From where she lay on the ground, Kayla could only groan under her breath, trying to clear the cobwebs from her head in time to react. She hissed through her teeth, leaning over to strike her own head a few times to better get to her senses. Kayla knew that if Shizuka was able to execute her plan, it wasn't going to end well for her. Doubly so as she saw the red-painted girl run past her, no doubt getting to the ropes so she could launch an even more powerful attack. But if only she could get out of the way in time...

"Kayla! Look out!" Ashley called from the sidelines, snapping her partner out of her stupor. Then she was ready to act. Just as Shizuka sprung off the ropes, Kayla went to sit up. She didn't have time to do much other than jolt to a seated position, but she hoped that would put her out of range of the oni's incoming elbow!

Shizuka thought that she could hit Kayla with her springboard elbow drop, but the moment she sprung from the ropes, Kayla sat up, but she couldn't stop her own motion, and as a result, she ended up hitting the mat with her elbow instead of hitting her opponent. "Urgh!!" She winced in pain. She knew that if she stayed idle for too long, her opponent might be able to take advantage of this. So, she would try to distance herself from Kayla, rolling away from her before stopping so that she could get herself onto her knees.

Upon getting herself on her knees, she would look at her opponent to see what she would do next. At the same time, she would try to get herself back onto her feet in order to prepare herself for her next plan.

Watching Shizuka go slamming into the ground, Kayla wiped off her brow, letting out a sigh of relief. That had been a close one, but she had managed to escape from what was sure to hurt just in time. But she also noticed that Shizuka was quick to get back up after that. That came as a bit of a surprise to Kayla, who had figured the drop was long enough to keep her downed for a while - but she reasoned that if Shizuka was that much of a high-flyer already, she was probably prepared for that anyway.

As Shizuka began to rise, so too did Kayla start to get to her feet. Wasting no time, she charged straight for her opponent to raise a knee, hoping to slam it into her. If Shizuka was still on her knees, Kayla thought, it would strike directly into her face. But if she was standing, it could at least stun her by glancing off her stomach. Either way, she was willing to give it a try.

After missing her elbow drop, Shizuka tried to get back up, but as soon as she was on her knees, she saw an incoming knee attack aimed to her face, and she was unable to avoid it. As a result, the knee collided against her forehead, and the impact caused her entire world to shake. "AUGHHH!!!" She fell backwards and hit the mat with her back.

"Aaaahhh... guuhhh..." Shizuka moaned in pain as she held onto her throbbing head. Everything felt blurry around her thanks to the impact, and all she could manage at this point was to writhe in pain on the mat. Yukari, who was at the corner, cried out for Shizuka, telling her to get back up, showing a worried face as she tried to get her voice to reach out to her.

"S-Shizuka-chan, get up!!" Yukari shouted to Shizuka, her hands tightly gripping on the ropes, as if prepared to jump into the ring if necessary. "Oh no... p-please get up!"

Even Kayla had to wince a little as her knee struck the face of her red-painted opponent. Her scream was loud enough for the crowd to groan in sympathy, and she shuddered at the thought of how much such a blow would have hurt. Hearing Yukari call out to her from the sidelines only made matters worse; Kayla knew well how it felt to be on the sidelines and faced with an opponent running roughshod over her partner. But she took in a breath and collected herself. She wasn't going to let that slow her down from what she was in this ring to do.

Getting down by Shizuka, Kayla decided this was time as any to try and weaken her opponent. She had felt the pain of Shizuka's punches, and she thought she could save herself from further blows if she sapped the girl's arm strength by getting down behind her and wrapping her legs around her arms before bridging her back to perform a lotus lock. She just hoped it wouldn't hurt too bad after the blow to her face. She glanced nervously out of the corner of her eye, keeping her attention on Yukari.
