That sucked. That sucked a lot. Totally. Betsy wasn’t out, though. As much as her back hurt, as winded as she was feeling, she was still awake and aware, for the most part. Breathing was difficult, but not impossible. She was okay. She was still alive.
And then Rosie straddled her waist, and she realized things were about to get so much worse.
She brought her hands up to defend, but she was too slow, and the first shot slipped through, bashing her square in the face and rebounding her skull against the mat. Another followed, and one after that. Left, right, left, right. Monotonous movements, but it hardly mattered when she was too slow to do anything. She bucked, squirmed, and tried her best to defend herself, but there wasn’t much she could do in the face of such a relentless onslaught.
Her lip busted open - when she couldn't tell - and her mouth filled with the taste of blood. Her vision grew darker with each strike. She was starting to fade, drifting off, her cries turning into pathetic whimpers, and still the punches rained down. Her arms fell to the side, her movements grew still, and then…
