Astrid Ostberg vs. Cali McCloud - #1 Contenders Match

Cali was so close to ending it then and there. The fists slammed against the ribs did their job in preventing Astrid from escaping the hold, but now the Norsewoman was starting to drag them over to the ropes. Seeing this, Griffon started to pull back as hard as possible, attempting to block as much circulation as possible to put Astrid to sleep before she could reach for the rope break.

Dragging herself to the ropes, as slowly and torturously as she could, Astrid was gagging and gasping for breath, her face growing red as she was struggling to hold it in despite Cali's valiant efforts to keep her put. A few times, as Astrid started to near the edge of the ring, she fell back on her face from Cali holding her down. And now that Cali was throttling her even more tightly, Astrid realized she was going to have to act fast to turn things around. She tried to reach out for the ropes, only for her hand to go limp and fall, as another harsh cough left her lungs. Cali, too, would find she was growing heavier as the strength drained from her. Astrid's gaze was beginning to flutter, and even the Norsewoman herself thought she could pass out any moment.

It was desperate times like these, though, that called for desperate measures. And Astrid needed to act. With a gulp, she lunged for the ropes, trying to roll her body underneath them in order to take the two out of the ring! If she couldn't make this work, she was out. But if she could, it could be just what she needed!

Cali pulled back as hard as she could, seemingly having the Norsewoman where she wanted her, but Astrid managed to pull herself underneath the ropes just in time. Knowing that she couldn't end it in that moment, Cali was forced to break the hold, digging her foot into Astrid's back as the blonde fell out onto the ring floor while Cali stayed inside. The crowd was at a fever pitch over Astrid saving herself and Cali started running through ideas on how she could finish this fight. She turned to see Astrid beginning to get to her feet and Cali started to slap the mat. With a deep breath she ran towards the ropes at the opposite end of the ring, using them as momentum as Cali suddenly dove in between the ropes to crash into Astrid with a suicide dive as she hoped to do major damage.

It was a last-ditch effort on Astrid's behalf. If she didn't get out under the ropes with this last push, it would all be lost; she was going to have to use the last bit of stamina she had to pull through. But if she could slip out, then the force of the two heavyweights landing on the outside floor would surely be enough to break up the hold.

As it turned out, though, Astrid's hopes would only half come to fruition. She had gotten out under the ropes, for sure - but Cali used her foot to shove her out of the ring, sending her rolling over on her side as she was forced out, with Cali holding the position! Astrid gasped and gagged as she came to a stop, shaking herself to try and clear her head. She was in more trouble than she suspected - she might have been out of the hold now, but she had to fight her way back from the brink of unconsciousness. Cali had choked her within an inch of her remaining stamina, and she was lucky to have escaped before she passed out. Now, she was still trying to get back on her feet, panting for breath, and Cali was still in the ring, in a better position to strike! Not just that, but now the ref was counting!

"One! Two! Three! Four!"

Astrid had straightened herself now, rubbing her head as she rose, but she was still unsteady, and she groaned under her breath. As the Norsewoman looked up, she saw that Cali was now bouncing off the ropes and coming barreling back towards her! The impact was imminent, and Astrid knew she was going to have to act fast if she wanted to save herself. She steeled herself, digging her heels into the floor as she faced the oncoming Cali, and reached out, hoping to catch her in mid-dive and throw her backward to use her own momentum against her. And, as it so happened, "backward" was currently right in the direction of the announcers' table where Linda had seated herself!

Cali was sure that she still had things under control as she barreled towards Astrid to continue the assault. Cali wasn't sure what happened afterwards as within the blink of an eye, she was suddenly on top of a downed Linda as the two were on the ground recovering. Cali was dazed and confused and there was an aching pain in her right arm as well.

Linda was watching the action as both these wrestlers would be an tough opponent to face , and she was glad she would only have to face one of them. Still these wrestlers were putting it all on the line as it seemed that Cali was about to win when in what clearly was an last pitch effort , Astrid would manage to turn it around.

As even with Cali choking her opponent her , Astrid had manage to break free . However that also likely had caused the end game of this match to begin . Since whoever made the first mistake would likely end up losing as the blond saw Cali had bounced off the ropes as the Norsewoman rose to her feet as the referee counted on. With an quick glance she notice that Astrid would steeled herself as she dug her heels into the floor before catching the incoming Cali as she throw her fellow heavyweight backwards.

The sight of this was amazing , but it did introduce an problem that Linda would not realize as she suddenly heard the commentators telling her to move out of the way. As while they had gotten to safety she had watched on as Cali was on course to collide with her as the American was hit as she fell out of the chair she was sitting on as she collided with the barricade beneath her as everyone watched to see what would happen next.

Astrid used the last of her energy to catapult Cali behind her, deflecting her dive into the table as she fell back and collapsed to her side with a groan. Already winded from the hold she had endured, the Norwegian couldn't keep up after hurling the full weight of her oppnent across the arena. But as she began to lift herself from where she had landed, propping herself up on her elbow, Astrid gasped at the sight of where Cali had ended up. She certainly hadn't intended for her to go crashing into Linda, and now the whole arena was in a panic, as the frightened commentary team had fled while the other two heavyweights were in a heap on the ground!

Astrid gasped, pushing herself onto her feet as the adrenaline gave her the wherewithall to move, but she was still too aghast to do much more. Her eyes were wide open, her face fixed in a silent gasp, as she clasped a hand over her mouth. Astrid simply didn't know how to deal with this - and the count was still going, yet Astrid, blinded by shock, wasn't even registering! It seemed as though time had slowed down, as she stared out at the site of the collision. She wasn't expecting this to happen at all!

"Five! Six! Seven! Eight!"

"NINE!"

"TEN!"

Cali groaned, trying to shake the numbness from her right arm. The rookie was dazed and running on fumes, trying to push away whatever weight was on her body. As she crawled from behind the table, she noticed the familiar maroon boots of Astrid. Instincts kicked in as Cali thought that she was about to be attacked and lunged forward, looking to hoist Astrid onto her shoulders in a fireman's carry and slam the Norsewoman through the table.

Her own fatigue, and the surprise of sending Cali backwards and through the table, had left Astrid's mind in another place. She didn't know how to react to what had happened before her, let alone how to go from here, and she wasn't paying attention even as the ref continued the count-out. But one way or another, Astrid was going to have to react, as Cali was coming back towards her, and the next thing she knew, the disoriented blonde was swept up onto her shoulders! With a gasp, Astrid was hurled downward, going crashing straight through the table!

The table splintered underneath the weight of the Norsewoman coming crashing through it, with the commentators scattering. Astrid came to rest in the heap below, spread out and groaning as she stared up blankly at the ceiling. She had been taking a beating already, and going through the table was just the cherry on top, leaving Astrid without the stamina to get up or say anything. Her jaw lolled open, and her eyes glazed over.

But before Cali could do any more to her downed foe, the bell began ringing, as the ref cried out to the two wrestlers. "That's enough!! Time up!"

Cali toppled to the floor after her desperation move with the crowd roaring as Cali put the Norsewoman through the table. Her back pressed against the apron when the ringing of the bell snapped her out of her daze and she soon realized that the match was over and all three women were laid out at ringside. The question of who will challenge Linda for the Heavyweight title was still unanswered as the match ended in a draw. Cali used the apron to push herself to a vertical position as she took a glance over the carnage before her.
