Alice grunted as she pulled herself over the bar again. “Really? That’d be great!” She said, dropping from the bar.

Oscar let himself down from the bar once he was done with it, nodding his head at Alice as he grabbed his stuff and walked over to a ring set up in the gym

"No problem! Always happy to be useful to people who need a hand"

Placing the bag near the ring, he'd pull himself in and turn to face Alice.

"Alright- so let me know when you're set to go and I'll guide you along as best as I can remember"

Alice wiped her brow and hopped into the ring. She hadn’t brought her attire with her, but she was fine in what she was wearing. She turned to Oscar. “All ready!”

"OK! So- if you were to lock someone in an abdominal stretch you would hook one leg around the opponent's matching leg, right? Like left leg over their left leg? Well for this you're going to be doing the opposite of that- so left leg over my right leg. Come on around and do that to me from behind"

Oscar would wait for Alice to do this. If she did, he'd turn his head to look at her as best he could.

"Ok... now this is the tricky part: Hook my arm like you're going for the abdominal stretch, bending my upper body over and all that. BUT! Use that upper body strength of yours to pull yourself up and hook your other leg over the back of my neck. Try to use my weight as balance for you to do this"

Alice complied with Oscar’s instructions, struggling but still executing it. “Like this?” She asked.

Oscar would wince and let out a groan of pain as Alice managed to lock in the octopus hold on him!

"Urrg... yup! That's it!"

He managed out a strained laugh as he felt the stretch in the hold...

"As you can... uff... see, you're totally... urg... anchored up that using my... rrr... own weight while stretching my sides"

He took some deep breaths as he tried to be a good gym buddy for the lightweight and work through the pain.

"If you're feeling like... urg... doing some more, you can take... ahhh... that free arm you got and go for my... huff... torso!"

Alice, not wanting to hurt Oscar, would give a few light punches to his torso before releasing him. “Like that?” She asked.

"Oof! Like that... urg.. yeah!"

Oscar sighed with relief and stood up, rubbing his neck and stretching his body out as the pressure faded due to Alice hopping off.

"Course you'll have to hit a lot harder- or dig into their ribs with your elbows! Best to save a move like that for when your opponent is tired out too... just in case they get an idea on how to escape and turn things around on you"

Alice took a breath herself. “Any tips on that front?”

"Best they could do... or rather, what I did in that situation, was to just sandwich the person holding me in that hold between the canvas and my body. She was a heavyweight like me, so she could handle the impact to some extent, but you're uh... much smaller. No offense"

Oscar rubbed the back of his head with a small laugh to himself.

"Point is- I got out because I grabbed a leg that was dangling near me and threw myself backward. Kinda like an improvised Samoan drop. In your case I'd recommend either building up your endurance to defend better against impacts, minding where the leg is, abandoning the hold if something feels loose or if it feels like your opponent is going to escape, or work on your upper body strength to really wrench on the upper body and rib jabs"
