Meeting a rising Emerald Star

The kick she threw had little to no impact, making Collei land a quick knee to Kate's abs which she would tense in preparation for the impact to take some of the edges off of it. Then as the girl tried locking her in a headlock, Kate would ram her shoulder into the other girl's midsection before throwing her in a backdrop, spinning to face her and taking a step back to avoid an immediate counter.

Meanwhile, Huan would walk around the ring, trying to get a good angle as if she was hunting for some particular detail.

Both Collei and Kate had foiled each others plans, which caused Collei to laugh, feeling like she was getting into the groove of fighting with strikes, due to her agility, plus she felt more at home with the freedom of movement. She rushed forward suddenly, spinning as she approached, first sending a fast left hook which was designed to be a feint, before spinning a full circle, in the attempt to strike Kate on the side of her head with her right elbow.

There was something special about trading blows and Kate couldn't help but smile as they did. It rarely happened for her outside of real matches but she found herself getting into a flow state, less conscious strategy, more honed instinct, she still held it at bay to not overdo it.

When the hook came, Kate expected it to be faint, moving just slightly out of the way and getting her hands up to defend from the follow-up. Though Collei was small, the spin added quite a bit of momentum to the strike, making Kate's guard ram into her face as she stumbled, shaking her head. She would then throw a combo of a cross, faint jab, and an uppercut at the girl followed by a push kick.

Collei did her best to defend against the 4 strike combo that followed after her spinning kick. She managed to block the cross, before dodging the feint. She then tried to dodge the uppercut, but was slightly too slow as it clipped her chin, distracting her from the push kick that followed which made her trip over her own feet and land on her back.

"Ungh, that's gonna leave a bump tomorrow..." Collei grumbled, trying to get back to her feet once more.

Kate would smirk at the comment. "You get used to it, you should have seen when Huan kicked me the first time." She said just before Huan would whistle to signal them to stop. she would get into the ring shortly after.

"I like what I saw, you got a lot of speed and good instinct with strikes." Huan started with a smile "The spin was good to get more power, with your stature you'll want to get that it some running or jumping attacks." She then shifted the tone to more neutral "The form could use some work but you'll get there and actually, I think I got just a move for you, want to see and try it out?"

Collei nodded gleefully at the offer of a move that would work for her. Striking moves seemed to work well for her, so the ability to learn more was a great opportunity that she could not miss. She moved away from Kate to allow Huan into the ring, assuming that she was going to use said move on Kate.

Seeing Collei back away Kate gave a nervous chuckle sensing what was about to happen, Huan simply shook her head. "Relax, I won't hit you, she will but later." she said before standing in front of Kate and looking at Collei.

"So the spin adds more momentum to the attack, it can be risky but if you do it right it can turn just a normal strike into a fight-ender." She said, starting to slowly turn as she would for that move to demonstrate. When she was facing completely away from Kate she would continue. "Here is where the magic happens. So, kicks come, obviously from your legs and core but here, if I kick backward, I use my glutes as well" she said before performing the kick that would stop just shy of Kate's face who would flinch at almost eating that kick straight on. "I can also aim it hire if I lean forward more." She withdrew her leg and continued before kicking again this time above Kate's head. Then she would step back turn to not spook her student anymore and finish her explanation. "Full speed looks like this." After saying that she performed the technique and looked to the smaller of her students "Now you try"

Collei studied the move closely, committing to memory. She knew that if she practised the move enough, she could use it well in matches, but to do that, she would have to use it regularly, both in training, and in real matches. She moved back in front of Kate, before attempting to replicate the move. It was certainly anything but refined, but she managed to pull the move off, even managing to maintain her balance after landing. Afterwards, she felt a wave of adrenaline rushing through her entire being

"Wow... I never knew I was capable of moves like this..." Collei would say in bewilderment, realising that she could become a sort of, MMA wrestler hybrid.

Even while the technique behind the kick was not that good, Kate doubted she would have reacted in time had she not known what to expect. The force of the kick colliding with her guard ended up ramming her forearms against her face as her upper body tipped back, forcing her legs to scramble for balance which she would find only when her back rested on the ropes. Her vision spun for a moment as she groaned and clutched her head "Jesus... You sure that's your first time throwing that kick? Sure felt like it wasn't." Kate said picking herself up from the ropes and taking a careful step to make sure she didn't fall over.

"Not bad, you leaned forward too much and that got you off balance for a moment, and you could have been closer, it would lose less force that way." Huan said pointing out where she saw the biggest improvements Collei could make but she was otherwise pleasantly surprised by how quickly the girl picked it up. "You want to go back to the spar or would you rather we go over some technique?"

Collei was rather surprised at how well she pulled it off. Was she, talented in martial arts or something? She never would have thought that. Yet here she was pulling off MMA techniques relatively well. Watching Kate stumble back from the force, now Collei was the one thinking she over did it.

"Not at all. Never really been much of a martial artist, but... I may actually be reasonably gifted at it. You are alright, aren't you?" Collei asked, feeling a little guilty. She then turned to Huan, who gave her advice, then praised her for the attempt, which make Collei giggle.

"To be honest, learning some more techniques like that could help in my future fights. I would love to learn more!" She said eagerly, moving away from Kate so she could recover.
