Working On Up

"Good good, much better! Doesn't it feel easier and like you can really hammer away at your opponent?" Dan said as he moved to give Emilia the 150 pound dummy. He was eager to see her work with that at least a bit but he was positive she could pick it up and send it down with much more force than she thought possible.

As he watched he checked his phone again and smiled. "Keep on working, she was about to workout in her home gym but she said she would head over here so once we finish this we will run ropes for your endurance then take a break before she arrives." Dan said with a nod to Emilia as she went to work.

Smiling breathlessly, Emelia nodded at Dan's words. "That sounds great! I can't wait to meet her!" Feeling very good about her current progress, she did as instructed and moved over to the heavier dummy, ready to enact her newfound technique on it.

With a growl of effort she hauled the 150 pound dummy skywards, exploding upwards as he had instructed and slamming it down into the mats. Sweeping her hair back behind her ears, she nodded in satisfaction. That had felt good. And soon she would have a wrestling idol in the gym with her to help push her even further. All of a sudden the four losses she's strung together seemed distant.

Dan watched as Emilia was slamming with power, and more importantly with confidence. "Do ya want to try the 200b dummy? I bet ya have it in you although it will be tough to do." Dan said with a smile. Watching Emilia's confidence grow was the highlight of his day so far. He really thought that someone who believed in themself could achieve far more than someone who didn't talent be damned. "What do ya say?"

When Dan first suggested attempting the 200 pound dummy Emelia was initially reluctant. She had been making good progress with the smaller ones - the slams felt a bit smoother and more natural now - but it was still early days.

However, Dan's smile was infectious and he'd steered her well so far. Stretching out her long limbs and tossing her hair, she nodded to him.

"Alright, I'll give it a try!" she declared, eager to show off her improvements to her new trainer.

"All right! Awesome!" Dan said as he lift the 200b dummy and propped it up in front of Emilia, holding it by the head so it was in a standing position. He nodded to her signaling that he was ready for her attempt. "All right, grab it and lift with your muscles working in concert, fluid motions starting with your legs exploding up while your upper body lifts.." Dan reminded her one last time as he watched, ready for her to make the attempt.

Emelia braced herself for tackling the heaviest dummy. Her technique for the slams was feeling a lot better now, but this was a heavier attempt than any of the others. She advanced, wrapping her arms around the dummy and letting out a shrill growl of exertion as she tried to pick it up. Although she managed to heave it up off the mat, she could feel the unsteadiness as she tried to follow through with the explosive motion.

She felt herself wobble off balance as she tried to surge up and execute the slam as Dan had told her. However, instead of the smooth, fluid motion, Emelia found herself teetering unsteadily as she misjudged the rise, only just catching and adjusting herself in time to deliver a clumsy slam with the heaviest dummy. Her cheeks blazed crimson and she looked at her trainer abashed, knowing she'd made a mess of the move.

"Hey now worries, that thing is heavy so no one expected things to look as nice as the lighter dummies. However ya still pulled it off and a 200 lb lady being picked up and dropped down by you would hurt them because their weight adds to the force and the surprise they feel adds shock value ya know?" Dan said as he nodded to Emilia.

"Hey Dan! Is that the young lady you wanted me to see?" A voice behind him said.

Dan turned and nodded, smiling as he waved to his aunt Alaina. Alaina was clad in a one piece leopard print swimsuit with matching boots and kneepads. "Hey there, nice to see ya and thanks for coming!" Dan said.

Alaina climbed into the ring and extended her hand for a handshake. "Hi there, I am Alaina! You must be Emilia." The amazon said as she looked over at the dummy. "Is that 200 lbs? The fact that you look a ton lighter than the dummy but can lift it or have it in the ring for practice is impressive!"

Dan's words took the sting out of her failed attempt to properly slam the 200 pound dummy and Emelia could feel the flush in her cheeks fading as his comments sank in. Lifting and slamming the heaviest dummy was no mean feat. She flashed him a smile, but then her attention was immediately snared by another figure that came striding into the ring.

Emelia's eyes went wide as she looked at the newcomer. It was really her, Alaina Sanders! Resplendent in her leopard-print swimsuit, she was every inch the professional. Clad in her gym attire Emelia suddenly felt somewhat self conscious.

Almost speechless she accepted the hand to shake, eventually managing to blurt out, "Y-yes! I'm Emelia. I'm... I'm mean, it's an honor to meet you!" she was aware of how childish she sounded, but meeting the wrestling icon was a dream-come-true for the young Norwegian.

Alaina leaned against the ring ropes and kept an eye on Emilia. "It is great to meet ya, it is always fun meeting the up and coming ladies of the ring!" Alaina said with a smile. "I bet you can heft that big dummy up and power it down hard! Tell ya what, if you can pull off a solid slam on that dummy ya get a free slam or two against me complete with Dan taking photos of you throwing me around." Alaina said with a wink hoping to help motivate the young wrestler.

Emelia blushed and smiled at the experienced wrestler's words, both thrilled to be in the ring with her and excited at the proposition she'd been given. Imagine that, after her dismal beginnings in LAW, being able to show off tossing Alaina around! None of her family would be mocking her then - she'd be an equal... even if it was a touch fake.

"That would be great!" she blurted. "Thanks so much! I'll... yeah I'll do this now." And steeling herself, Emelia returned to the heavy training dummy. Taking a deep breath, she tried to remember everything Dan had been telling her, desperate to get this right in front of such a wrestling idol. She powered forward, heaved the dummy skywards and exploded up of her legs with a yell, before driving it back down hard into the canvas!
