Walking behind the bar, Domino pressed a button.
"This is Captain Drake from the top deck. We need a Bourbon here please, our guest is probably already running on fumes."
Habitual drinking could become a problem, but luckily enough Roni was not the only enforcer she could buy if she needed one. But probably one of the hottest one, so it would be a real shame if the pores of her nose would flare and she would take on a dark red when drunk. She was a little bit sunk in her own thoughts and so barely heard the *Aye, Aye Captain!* coming from a little speaker under the button.
With a little sigh, she would walk on and reach the end of the top deck, giving sight to a helipad on the left, a camera station with presently dormant and wrapped equipment in the middle and a black cushioned ring without ropes and posts for mat and oil wrestling.
"The helicopter is on duty currently. But if you should need him one day for a special job, go ahead."

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
Roni snorted out a laugh at Domino's request for more alcohol for her. "Hey, keep up with those jokes, and you'll need to tell them to make it a double, Drake. I like my drinks. I got my reasons." Mancini shook her head and followed the woman again, still with her hands stuffed in pockets.
She took a glance around the helipad, the video equipment, and the mats and actually looked very amused. "Okay, so you have the girly sexy fights here, is that it? Is this the... What's that show? The really old one. Love Boat?" The Italian seemed entertained by her own joke, continuing to glance around the top deck.

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
"I actually thought about that name for the ship too. But it would not have fitted the rest of the impression."
Domino smiled in all honesty. That name had almost made it too the ship´s bow, but finally she had decided that it was unfitting. There was a ship at her disposal who had that name though.
"And regarding your question, yes and no. It is an outdoor summer ring. I don´t like to wrestle nude in the pouring rain in a freezing cold November night for example."
While Domino had been talking, the steward had been approaching them with another Bourbon, causing the ship´s captain to wait until Roni had her drink before she would approach a stair that would lead them to the Casino room in the belly of the ship.
"Our private casino houses card games and all the classical casino games. Even Baccarat. We even had a televised high roller poker event here some time ago."

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
Roni snickered at Domino's admittance to almost naming her ship the Love Boat, thinking she had been joking. But from Drake's expression, she wasn't kidding at all, and she instead bit back the reaction she wanted to make at her. Fortunately she began to discuss the outside ring, which was far less surprising to her, even though she had been joking. "I was just..." she trailed off and then sighed, crossing her arms. "Nevermind."
Mancini got her bourbon and then sipped on it. Sweet alcohol. After she got her sip, she followed after Donino, looking around at the casino. She did really like gambling. It meant having money to make more money. "Looks snazzy. I could spend some time in here," said the Italian, nodding in approval and drinking more of her bourbon.

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
"Oh, I have a place on my ship that finds your unconditional approval? I must have hit pirate´s gold today."
Fitting like butt on bucket, a very fitting rhyme she had learned when she had traveled to Europe some time ago. Of course Roni loved to play the games that were high risk and adrenaline. Domino was not much of a gambler herself, but she would have found something missing if her pleasure cruiser did not have something like a casino for nostalgia reasons.
"As employee, you got credit here. Not unlimited of course, I am thinking of 10 grand for starters and more if you prove your loyalty. if you should go overboard with debt you will amuse me in a more direct way than now if you know what I mean."
She explained with a little grin. 10K dollars could sound much, but in the end, the house always wins.
Walking further, she would approach and enter a corridor where a number of pirate captains, swashbucklers and buccaneers were honored with big paintings left and right in the corridor under glass.
"Each one of them is unique and handmade. Some are ancient, the most recent one is a month old or so."
Domino did not think that Roni would appreciate to be in the presence of greatness, but fuck it. It was her ship at all, and if she wanted to bore someone to tears, she would just do it.

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
Domino was slowly coming back around to Roni. She chuckled at the joke as wiped at her mouth, to hide it slightly. She did look very satisfied with the $10,000 number that she was presented with and smiled genuinely. That was a pretty nice perk and a good number to start at, for sure. Mancini said, "Hey, you don't have to worry about that. I happen to be a very responsible... investor..." The words slowed as she had a revelation, finally. Amuse her with a more direct way... if you know what she means. Mancini didn't know whether to feel irritated, flattered, or relieved at this point. This woman had wanted her, for lack of a better word, to screw her. She was going to say something, but instead she continued to walk forward with Drake, stewing over her realization.
And in the middle of her rambling about her stupid knick-knacks and odd things, the Hitwoman just said abruptly, "So is there a reason you just didn't ask me to fuck you?" She said the words out of frustration, deciding that was the emotion to land on beyond the rest. Her brow was furrowed and she crossed her arms, looking at Domino expectantly, although she didn't expect what kind of answer she'd get from such a crass question.

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
Domino was indeed a little lost for words. Not because she found the question rude or unfitting, just because she was a little bit surprised by it out of the blue. And speaking of fitting, she had been asked the question just in the company of a painting of a pirate captain rumored to be pretty eccentric and rich in his lifetime.
"Have you an idea how much money is moving around on my bank accounts, trust fonds, tax avoidance Blackrock savings, stock markets and so on and so on?"
She asked, unusually serious.
"Of course not. I neither. I could not tell you the difference between a shareholder and a placeholder, both words are equally dull for me. I have no idea if my money is generated by green energy or radioactive waste. So with nothing to be proud or ashamed off, I can only gain amusement and excitement from the unexpected. One of that special feeling which money can´t buy, along with creativity."
Her hand streaked over the glass of the painting for a moment.
"Asking is nearly like buying, predictable. If I can just throw a predicted sum of money at you to buy your body for a service I can have for free and live on TV in a LAW ring, how should that excite me? Therefore I was also not interested in the details and variants of your line of work, it is just so predictable and unexciting to see someone get roughed up for non-pleasure reasons because I paid for it."

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
Roni Mancini kept watching Domino as she explained herself. Her frustration soon turned to confusion, then all of a sudden boredom. She put a hand to her forehead and heaved a heavy sigh when Drake finished, finally laughing incredulously. "Jesus, is anything straight forward with you? I asked a simple question and I'm not even sure I got an answer!"
The Italian was at a loss for words for a moment, trying to figure out where to even start. Then finally she just blurted out, "If you want something, just freaking go for it! It's good! It's easy! Predictable is fine! You hit the jackpot of life, lady! Freaking buy whatever you want! You could buy five of me and have some kind of kinky pirate orgy or whatever it is you want! Why the hell do you even want to hire me if you don't care about the crap I do?"
Then, instead of looking irritated or annoyed, her face twisted into something upon another realization, this time about her own past. She grit her teeth, cheeks puffing as she actually looked sad, just for one moment, before glancing down and putting a hand on her forehead again. "...Yeah, forget all of that. I get it. Sorta. You just..." Roni stumbled over her words, not even sure what to say when she could show any sort of humanity for what was an extremely rare moment in her life.
Mancini turned and became more interested in a painting, for the first time, on the opposite side of the hallway. "You do you, Domino. Nobody ought to tell you what to do with your money or life, least of all me," explained the Hitwoman, in more or less totally vague terms. It was nearly as close as she'd get to anything resembling profound, at least for the conversation right now. She chugged the rest of her drink, which was still about half full, not really sure what else to say now.

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
"Straightforward."
Domino would just let that word stand for itself. Straightforwardness was a good thing, but something she would probably not use often when not commanding her ship. She simply did not have to be straightforward.
Who would have actually thought that there was some depth under the shell of her newest bouncer? Of course she had probably reasons to drink and be like she was, everybody had reasons for his or her own behavior.
Finally her hand left the glass again and she straightened herself a little bit to chase the seriousness a little bit away. Roni had said that she knew what Domino meant, but still she had the urge to clarify it a little bit while beginning to walk right to the dance hall.
"You said you get it, but still: I want to hire you because I think it is funny and exciting. I want someone that I can send in the ring or to a home of a girl I either feud or find interesting enough for something like that to communicate my intentions or make an example of pesky thugs and enforcers my targets may use or employ. And I also may use your services for security in the LAW arena. You gave me a pretty clear overview of what you do earlier, so I think you will fit just fine in my little team of specialists, perverts and people with special talents."

Re: Pelican Bay, shanghaiing an Italian
Roni cleared her throat roughly before half-paying attention to Domino Drake. She turned to face her again and followed her to a dance hall. It too looked nice, just like every other place on this ship. Mancini, nonetheless, seemed okay with Domino's explanation. "Yeah, well, when money's involved, you always need somebody to scare people off or make things happen. They'll take every advantage they can to screw with you. So at least you're not naive about that."
Roni shrugged, smirking and breaking out of her own seriousness a bit. That was enough of a trip into the past. She smirked at her to-be employer and said, "But you can count on me for that, obviously. And security, it's boring, but I get it. Gives me time to play some dumb games on my phone or something." The Hitwoman then gestured to the big room they were in and said, "So what's the story here? Party hall or something? Hosting wedding receptions?"
