Re: Best way to make friends
"Boxing you say? Huan might want to give you a little push toward kicks. They work magic whenever they are allowed, elbows too. Though fair warning, you don't want her to go at full speed, never ask a lethwei practitioner to go all out unless you are ready for fractures."
Geun said with a nervous chuckle, after her first fight with Huan she did need some patching up though she doubted her friend would ever fight like that again, a lot has changed. She reached for another price, chewing through it before saying.
"Seems like we made similar mistakes than in regards to fighting in dubious groups."

Re: Best way to make friends
"Kicks? Well, she managed a roundhouse kick to my abs. She didn't break anything, but it felt like a flesh-lapped steel ball flew into it. With that, came one more followed by a knee I dodged. After that, I remember that we transitioned to the ground. Lethwei?---"
Senji pondered it. Hiroyuki implemented kicks, elbows, and everything she mentioned yet he used Muay Thai instead to make up for the detriments Jiu Jitsu had. At the beginning of his training, his father had started him off with boxing before he had passed. The tone he took on was sure but as a question. Huan was very clearly Asian, but it'd be impolite for him to assume the nationality.
"That's from China?"
He didn't comment on their shared involvement in unfriendly circles. She needed to respond about his previous answer first. Aside from bits and pieces about the criminal underworld there and seeing that the economy had been going ass backwards as of late, China was something he wasn't too knowledgeable in. He did like history to an extent, but it was more martial arts centered even if things like his swordsmanship bled into other elements.

Re: Best way to make friends
"It's a variation on Muay Thai. It has fewer restrictions so for example headbutts are allowed. Oh, and on competition level, there are no gloves or pads, and fights end only by ko."
She mused trying to remember the specifics, she herself never trained in any particular martial art, relying more on her instincts and the hands-on experience she had.
"I'm sure she did some wushu, she did at least a little of most martial arts. Though her Chinese heritage is in blood only, I don't think she ever been to chains actually, would have to ask."

Re: Best way to make friends
"That sounds like a glorified brawl. Though, I can't be too harsh."
Senji shrugged to that tune.
"I don't practice my swordsmanship often either. I've only used it 'practically' once."
Senji actually did use it in an attempt to cut someone into the equivalent of chop suey. Unfortunately, he had been too skilled for Senji to make much progress combined with the fact they'd been in an inside environment which complicated his movements after the initial draw. Legally, Senji couldn't own a gun yet either. Or more specifically, a pistol going by American laws. In terms of the Japanese government, Senji hypothetically could get some form of firearm but that required a lot of paperwork hence him needing a workaround at the time. He'd probably be fine without one anyway. He tended to not stray from the straight and narrow nowadays.

Re: Best way to make friends
"I guess but that's what most martial arts were meant for, defending yourself or inflicting harm. I got attacked enough to tell you most fights don't end until someone can't walk. So I can't bash on it, add to that my liking of no holds barred fights and it would make me a hypocrite." She said before reaching for a drink and taking a sip. "Besides, wouldn't most fighting sports be like that if you take the gloves away? Not mentioning that in MMA gloves are there to protect your hands, not lessen the impact."
Geun retorted, not that what Senji said bothered her but differing opinions made for good conversations so she wanted to pursue that line of thought.

Re: Best way to make friends
After their drinks were served, that being a water and sweetened tea for him, Senji elected to respond following her piece.
"---Not necessarily. It depends on the amount of self-control a fighter has. Remember when you were on my back? I had enough restraint to not snap your ankle even though the restrictions were relaxed. Like I said, I don't want to cripple my opponents...'cause I don't have a reason to."
If he ever got another one, then he'd cross that bridge when he got to it. This private setting was just what he wanted, so to speak. That and to be left to his own devices. Making the best of a bad situation wasn't uncommon in his case. Unfortunately, he couldn't control everyone. He didn't wish to lose all control over his own life in any case. Senji's eyes then switched over to the waiter who had just arrived with their main dishes. That'd number two for him and one for her, if it wasn't misremembered. It was set in front of him, Senji inhaling the unique Korean scent of the dishes. He decided to propose a question to Geun as to expand on his previous point.
"If you had succeeded in a mounted Armbar, would you 'need' to fracture my elbow joint?"

Re: Best way to make friends
"Neither did I break your arm or tore your leg out of the socket even though I could have but that is not my point. If you ever end up being attacked on the street, pain compliance doesn't work, the only way an armbar will end the fight is if I brake the attacker's elbow. And sure, I'm not saying it should come to that in sports, far from it. What I'm saying is that removing restrictions from a fight gets us closer to the intended use and in the arts focused on striking a ko is the intended effect. Health hazards are another concern and that's why few people actually compete in lethwei I think. What I'm trying to get at is that these arts weren't meant for sport initially and in an actual fight, yeah I would break someone's bones if I had to. These techniques were actually meant for that" She replied, reaching for a roll of Boosam

Re: Best way to make friends
Senji set his gaze on her face. His ears received the audio information, Senji processing what her point was as she claimed.
"From what I know generally, that's why a street fight, an underground circle, and a fight at LAW are different from each other. That's why I stay away from the first two. Jiu-Jitsu is a 'soft art' in concept, so...I was just leaning into that.----I wouldn't want you or Huan to get beaten to near death or worse."
Senji gave as a challenge to her view. He was only bringing up such an extreme outcome partly because of his tolerance and her statement of liking no holds barred matches. His eyes turned down to his strips of beef amongst some green-colored herbs. Seeking to avoid eating them cold, Senji began to go through the process. They slid down his throat at a moderate pace without too much trouble. Worth the money, definitely. And she was making him happy enough!

Re: Best way to make friends
"True but even bjj was made with moves intended to injure. My point is these fights are closer in nature to intended use, not that they should be more prominent. Though I still like them on occasion and in LAW, the referee can always stop it if it goes too far. That aside, I doubt there are many people who could even get close to beating Huan so badly, I mean look at her mma record, all wins by ko, most under one minute."
Geun said throwing some more meat on the grill while taking another Bosssam in her hands.
"And I don't feel qualified to rate myself though I've been in underground fights, never had more than a structure or a concussion. Though that might just be luck."

Re: Best way to make friends
Senji finished slamming half of his plate of meat, complete with half the water, in record time. Looks like he had tendency to consume stuff fast even if he started off slow. Remembering where he was, Senji plucked a napkin that was served with his plate and ran it over the surface of his jaw and mouth. There, that should clear any ill-suited juice or food debris. "Yes. I see, and I would agree with that. I don't like assuming a lot either. Based on what I've been exposed to, it's not 2 years ago, I can beat both of you. To be honest though, Huan's been able to make me submit whether I resisted or not. She kept it restrained enough where I didn't get bored. Maybe, you know, even begging her to stop, not that I do the second one from what I'm remembering." The 'can' was in reference to possibility, not certainty. Senji glanced down at Haru's legs with it likely being the lower parts given the table in the way depending on their seating arrangement.
"She has the deepest Triangle Chokes I have been in so far. Huan's very good at tightening them properly by shifting to the side. Uh, I should say chokeholds in general though. Are you similar or...?"
He finished his side of the exchange. That done, he desired to go back to the subject of his consumption. He took to his sweet tea, picking it up and sending the liquid soaring down his throat to continue washing down that seasoned beef. After that, Senji set it down to look up at Geun and await her presumed response.
