For as many tough words as Lucy tried to say, it was clear from her eyes that her mind was in a complete disarray. Cynara came prepared with a nuke on Lucy's world. She had nothing to fight back with, except to accept her challenge, and destroy her daughter, making sure this chapter of her life is completely closed, and put away...
...but even as Cynara sparred with her verbally, Lucy still felt the sting of betrayal from her dad...and yet, she understood their situation. They were going to end up on the streets without a home. Lucy had to either beg classmates for help...or outright steal from both school and the streets. She was confused with her feelings of anger. Was she angry at her dad for sharing drugs? Herself, for not helping more to avoid this from happening? At Cynara, who threatened to bring this all to light?
Lucy felt shivers down her spine as Cynara pat her down on the shoulder, jolting away from her hand in disgust:
"I kicked your daughter's ass once, I can do it again..." Lucy growled out, as she grabbed the handle of her door, and with one last, angry look, she would close the door in the veteran's face, without any goodbyes towards her.
Lucy would go to her bed, looking at her phone, and at her dad's contact info. It was early day in Chicago, and he was likely awake. But as she tried to play any semblance of a conversation about this with her dad, she couldn't imagine a situation where she didn't end up in tears, and her dad didn't end up a panicked mess at his past sins haunting him...
"...talk to you later, Dad..."
She would toss her phone aside, and lie down, burying her face in the pillow to completely get away from the world for a few hours...
