Best way to make friends

"I never liked such borrow stipulations, I prefer more free-flow fights, they seem more genuine to me, and I like it when both I and the other person can go all out.

She sad just as the person filling the grill finished and left their table. After that she moved back to her prior position.

" Though I understand this is not everyone's cup of tea."

"Sure. I'm not 'afraid' of settling a fight when I'm on my feet.", He said. He wanted to disclaim any conjecture about him not being able to stand-up fight as opposed to being a one-trick pony with grappling. Senji wondered about his next session with Huan again and one of the two's reasons from coming here. He wouldn't yell back at her but he was not looking forward to receiving an earful. Senji couldn't see what he potentially had done wrong except for getting outplayed by Geun. Perhaps he wasn't the most knowledgeable but he could at least tell she very much cared about her young charge. It looked to be the case with Geun here too assuming this outing went smoothly. Making friends isn't an difficult concept to comprehend, he just didn't have many growing up due to his personality and past deeds. While he seemed delectable enough, there were times where he could seem inexperienced in certain fields or standoffish. Besides, they were more akin to "masters" at this point. Haru's on her way to earning his respect especially since she proved she wasn't ill-intentioned. On the topic of her free flow fights, Senji wouldn't be opposed to rematching sooner or later even if it was under MMA rules. Boxing was something he wasn't poor at either. Grappling was more comfortable and fresher in the motions. Not having much else to say currently, he went as follows....

"You have something you want to ask me?"

"Well I meant first more akin to no holds barred, that's what I'm most experienced at. Though obviously training with Huan I caught some more MMA-ish habits." She continued after his first statement, then shrugged as she heard his question."Nothing in particular. I just figured it would be nice to hang out. Also since Huan took you under her wing I figured you might have questions. I know she can be a pain in the ass, and don't worry she knows that too and I won't tell you anything she would disapprove of."

"Nothing I want to ask at the moment.----Mmm, I see. I think I'm starting to love training with her. If you want, you can join us. Or...er...I wouldn't be against it."

Senji said. He had quickly edited his response so that he'd not be deciding Huan's feelings on the matter. She probably wouldn't be against it. As for questions. Mmm. She'd been open towards letting him cook for her sometime down the line. He was on the fence about inviting her to his house. They'd just met after all. The plan here was to depart for his own car after this hang out session and leave Haru with a good-hearted farewell.

"You have any other ambitions you want or is fighting it?"

At that, Senji quirked his head to the side whilst continuing to wait on food or the waiter showed up to take the orders.

Geun chuckled after she heard Senji fumble through words.

"You wanted to say something else. I won't pry but I'm curious what was it. And we'll, fighting is not so much an ambition as means to an end. My family was struggling all throughout my childhood, I'm doing it to get more money their way. I'm the eldest, and if I can help them get a better start to their future I will and my parents also deserve to rest, they have been working their asses off to provide for us, they just got dealt a shit hand in life." Conviction was plain in Geun's voice as she was telling the truth, really wanting to help her family but at the same time even without that to motivate her, she still most likely be fighting since she did enjoy it on it's own.

Senji, inwardly, began turning his wheels. She was getting curious. Crap. He curled his lips at the edges. He absorbed what she gave him, deciding to phrase his piece in such a way as to where she could understand. She wouldn't be getting the entire story. Any personality he encountered save those he could count on one hand were potential threats to his freedom. And he would work to keep that under wraps until further notice. He was healing from that entire event too, judging by how his mood clearly soured upon it being brought up whether with Jenner or Geun here. Still, it'd be of terrible manners to leave her hanging.

"I guess---I wasn't dealt a perfect hand either. Aside from my 'hobbies', nothing else has really struck my fancy, so to speak, except for grappling. You and a couple of others can test my endurance."

Obviously, he was referring to how long it took for him to either win or the round to go on. Senji wanted to pick his words carefully in this situation too. Anything to offend her would be more trouble. That, and he didn't want to wear his entire background on the sleeve. Senji gave her a reassuring smile, though his eyes told that his rememberable moments were of the opposite. Nearly died a few times, in fact. A mixture of pure luck and commendable skill let him sit with Haru today. It was a journey he did not want to repeat if not forced to do so. He leaned back in his seat, scooting either himself or the chair closer to Geun if she let him. It isn't ending at an intimate distance. Senji wasn't going to be that forward. That done, he kept his hands on his thighs and continued to await the next turn of events. He supposed that he wasn't one of a kind in that fighter regard. There were hundreds of those, doing it for money, sadistic or masochistic enjoyment (Two conditions he didn't think he had), overall love, revenge, power, or various other factors he wouldn't be privy to.

"I'm the youngest of two. I love my brother very much. We don't talk a lot of times. He works as a doctor, part time, I want to say that? He phrased it as liking to 'compete' not 'fight'. I leave my family to their business, but I do...care about them."

As they spoke their food arrived and Geun moved to throw the first pieces of meat on the grill.

"I suppose every family is different. I always felt responsible for my siblings and winter to take a load off of my parent's shoulders. I did some stupid shit to make it happen. Well, at least some bones of mine are harder to break, benefits of titanium rods used to set them straight, they don't remove them afterward."

She said nonchalantly, not bothered at the implications her statements made about her past.

["Titanium rods? Oh."]

"Well, he always wanted to protect me, at least."

Senji considered this. That's part of the reason why she must've been so tough. He wasn't sure on the specifics of it, but it wasn't hard for him to see that was an commendable increase in toughness. Senji pursed his lips again. That was definitely curious. He hadn't encountered that type of person before. Judging by her tone, she very clearly seemed indifferent about that little nugget about her history. Senji's eyes canted to the grill, seeing the meat starting to sizzle and the telltale sign of it beginning to brown. As previously stated, something did happen between the two siblings that caused a rift. He didn't feel a crushing regret about it per se but from how Hiroyuki had acted before the match between Senji and Haru it looked as though he wishes to move past the to-be detailed event.

"Older siblings tend to have that in common."

Geun said with a smile as she reached for the first price of meat off a grill and are it. After swallowing she continued.

"I think I took enough time talking for now. Why don't you tell me something about yourself?"

Senji furrowed his eyebrows in thought. He was going over what to say to her in his mind. She'd given quite the information dump, though it was a little on the shorter end. That question of hers was particularly broad. And, he needed to presumably pick something that would keep her attention right? Senji chose to focus on....mmm. A good topic. He couldn't just leave her hanging. Perhaps focus more on the specifics of his martial background?

"Going back to stand-up fighting, I had more experience in boxing ever since I was a child. But I don't get to practice as much. There is not enough time in my day for it.----I also got my car as an inheritance but I had to continue paying it off since the previous owner couldn't do it. Aside from menial jobs, that's part of how I was involved in certain fighting groups. It wasn't... pleasurable."

Senji gave a deep exhale at that. He leaned forward his seat, over the meat to be transfixed by it. He did like cooking after all. Given that Haru wasn't going to be feeding him, praise his God, Senji opened his clenched hand and drove the fingers around a set of chopsticks on the table. After that, he went to pluck the meat from the coal-fueled grill and popped it into his mouth before starting the process of chew, process, swallow. Not too bad! It's not unacceptable for what Geun would be paying for it.
