Three Pointers! - Erin and Blaise Revisited

Blaise is standing by, still in 'shoot' position, lips pursed innocently~

...right up until the ball is shoved back into his arms. "Omph," he grunts. "Okay, okay. Try not to stress, that'll jack up your motions. Just relax. Keep it loose. See?," he asks, waving the ball back and forth. And with her watching his movements so intently, he cracks another small, still-somewhat-guarded grin. "Heh. You're like a cat."

He turns to the basket again. Knees bend, and the teen pops a few inches into the air, arms extending to shoot the ball. This time it hits the rim and bounces off. "A-aw..," he says with a blink. His hand moves to the back of his neck, gaze shifting sheepishly aside to Erin. "Well, I mean, you won't land every shot.."

"Pfff, I'll jack up YOUR motions." Erin mumbled as she watched Blaise attempt another shot. The redhead decided to ignore his second comment, too busy focusing on his motions. She watched the ball sail to the basket only to bounce off and towards the side. "Heh, guess the first basket was a fluke?" the redhead commented with a growing grin. She wasn't sure whether to laugh or feel bad for Blaise. It was possible after all that the starting might have just been distracting.

This time she'd let Blaise get the basketball and would wait patiently for his return. "Heck I bet after a few practice shots I can sink em better than you." Erin continued to tease. She might need quite a few practice shots but the Irish lass was sure that eventually she would be able to hit just about every shot she attempted.

"What? No. You- you hush."

Without further ado, the teen rushes off after the basketball. Upon returning, he shoots her a dirty smirk and has to resist the urge to sink a basket over the shoulder. Of course, the presupposition being that he'd actually make a trick shot like that; the truth being that he almost certainly wouldn't. He's a straight shooter with good control and technique, but he's no Harlem Globetrotter. So he's narrowly avoided making one flub a two-fer.

"Whatever, red. You can take all the practice shots in the world and still never sink'em better than me!"

Now he takes the opportunity, pivoting on heel and shooting the ball. It's nowhere near as flashy as an over-the-shoulder toss, but it still sinks. "Shaboom."

Erin smirked as it seemed her comment got a bit under Blaise's skin. "Oh? Is that a challenge? Cause I'll take ya on!" The redhead responded. She watched him take another shot, this time sinking it. "Pffff not bad." She said as she hurried to get the ball. "But watch this." As soon as Erin got the ball she hurried back over. The Irish lass was no basketball player and as such would focus for a long time on the hoop, finally taking a shot a few moments later.

The ball sailed through the air to the basket, hitting the rim and bouncing up. The ball hit the backboard, bounced on the rim once more and finally went through the hoop. It wasn't the most elegant shot but it at least went in. "Hah! Look at that!" Erin shouted as a huge smile spread across her face. She would turn to Blaise, smile still wide , awaiting some acknowledgement. The redhead was perhaps a bit too proud of herself for having accomplished such an simple task but complexity was not Erin's style.

Blaise stands by, fists propped securely to his hips while she scampers after the ball. An eyebrow perks when she lines up the shot, and the waiting game begins. Just to add a little shade, Blaise makes a grand showing of a yaaawwwn, eyes tightly shut, mouth agape, and right fist hovering over it.

When she finally shoots, he resumes the previous poise of fists on hips. It bounces. It banks. It goes in! And that gives Blaise a bit of a conundrum. Does he continue the salt? Would it be right of him? She's taking up a burgeoning skill, and his every instinct is telling him to nurture it! But with her, that seems to be a weakness!

"That was a good shot!"

His brain catches up with his mouth only at about the word 'shot'. Instincts can't be quelled so easily. His eyes flit left, then right, and he occupies himself by shuffling after the bouncing wayward ball.

Erin bounced on her toes with excitement at her newfound skill. "This basketball thing ain't so hard." the redhead teased. She knew full well that there was no way she'd get tons of time an a clear shot in a game but she couldn't help tease Blaise a little bit. She had found it to be much more entertaining than basketball. She did feel a bit bad about disturbing the teen's practice just to mess with him but figured any company was better than no company.

"Heh, bet ya can't put in a beautiful shot like that." Erin said with a slight giggle. She would take a step back as she waited for Blaise to return with the ball. "Or hmmm, maybe from there? Is that line for like Olympic shooters or something?" She asked, pointing to the three point line. It was exceedingly obvious that the redhead had absolutely zero knowledge of the sport. That would do little to change her enjoyment of the activity though.

Blaise is on his way back to her with the ball when she asks him a question that sincerely takes him a moment to process. He looks from her to the three-point line, then back again. His head tilts. "You, uh... acclimating well to Earth, space visitor?," he asks. "Not suffocating on our atmosphere or anything, are ya?"

He continues towards, and ultimately past her. "This is the three-point line," he says, and pivots on heel to the goal. He plays ball, but shooting from this line isn't exactly what he'd call easy. Still, his skill has been impugned! He must respond! Knees bend, the ball is chambered, and he pops a little off his feet to take the shot!

The ball bounces off the backboard, but falls through the hoop.

"Hah! I mean, psh, yeah, whatever." He folds his arms over his chest and shoots a look off to the side at nothing specific.

Erin tilted her head to match Blaise "Huh? I'm not sure...did I hit ya too hard on the head when we went at it?" The redhead asked Blaise, not particularly understanding his comment. She understood his explanation of the rules even less. "So if that one's three...is this other line two? And everything else one?" She asked. It made enough sense to her but then again she wasn't expecting three pointers to be a thing.

Now watching Blaise take another shot, Erin's eyes follow the arc of the ball until it bounces off of the backboard and into the hoop. She was tempted to clap but decided to try and keep it to herself for the time being. "Not bad, not bad...but can you do it three times in a row?" Erin said, flashing a quick grin as she went to retrieve the ball and throw it back to the teen. "Cause right now all I saw was a lucky shot." She teased.

Erin thought for a second before she got an idea. "Hey if you can make it two more times I'll even call off that drink ya owe me." She said with a giggle.

Eyes cast in a roll, and Blaise just nods along. And when the ball is sent his way again, he foregoes the puffery and bragging setup this time in favor of just getting down to it. His skill has been impugned! He has a point to make! Well, six points to make, but who's counting?

Knees bend, and he pops into the air! Arms extend, lips purse in concentration, the ball is airborne! Blaise lands on the toes of his sneakers and remains frozen in what, outside of basketball, would probably look like a praying mantis pose. Ultimately, the ball drops right through the basket and bounces along the court.

Erin watches in anticipation as Blaise sets up and shoots. Much to her surprise he sinks the shot with a swish. The teen might have been better than Erin had given him credit for. "Alright...still gotta make one more though." The redhead commented before getting the ball and tossing it to Blaise. She stuck her tongue out at him before once again waiting for his shot. She doubted he could make it in three times in a row from the 'Olympic shooter's line'.

It was at this time that the redhead was starting to regret her bet. When she first saw Blaise she was going to ask for a gatorade but her dreams of freeloading were quickly leaving her. "Don't focus too hard, you'll hurt yourself." She teased, hoping to distract him a little bit although she doubted it would phase him much.
