History: Kayla was fascinated by combat sports ever since she joined her high school wrestling team - getting in the heat of things in a pitched battle always came as a rush, and it was one she could hardly get enough of. Even after she graduated the desire to get stronger and improve her skills never left her, and she wanted to keep the dream alive. Turning her attention to going pro, she was lucky enough to find a wrestling school in town taught by one of the big stars of the sport's past, and eagerly took up the offer to take her ability to the point of attaining fame and fortune. More than that, though, wrestling was important to her on a personal level, and she had the drive to work to prove herself and perfect her craft. She didn't let the promise of fame blind her to what was really important about the art of wrestling - and that was what led to some conflicts of interests when she started sparring with one of the other girls in her class, a laid-back and carefree party animal named Ashley Daniels. Ash was a good wrestler, but she seemed to be in it more for a laugh. But Kayla soon grew to respect the redhead, and she hoped that by working together she would be able to bring out the best in her friend and show her what being a real wrestler was all about. They would soon unite as a tag team, the SoCal Connection, touring local promotions before they got the attention of LAW. Eager to leap onto her biggest opportunity yet, Kayla made the jump to Japan, bringing Ash along for the ride.
Personality: Kayla is committed to wrestling, seeing it as what she was put on the world to do. She takes herself very seriously and maintains a strict regimen, hoping to be her best in every respect. As such, she might seem to look down on others who she feels aren't applying themselves to the fullest - though she doesn't really resent them as much as wish they could do better, and she hopes that she can bring out their true talents. In general, she thinks someone with good in-ring ability and determination is always more admirable than someone who can get over by personality alone, and she prides herself very much on her strength and talent. She's very serious and tough, which can sometimes translate into a short temper, and prefers training to partying, though she isn't averse to celebrating her wins; she is Californian, after all. All this being said, being friends with Ash has made her lighten up a bit, and she's willing to entertain her friend's ideas about "how cool they could be," even if it's not always without reluctance.

- In high school, Kayla had a brief relationship with a boy in her class that never really went anywhere, and she doesn't like to talk about it much.
- Kayla's darkest secret is that in her younger and more carefree years in high school, she took part in a mud wrestling match with another girl as a fundraiser for their wrestling team. She doesn't like admitting to this, but secretly, it did contribute to her friendship with Ashley, as she reminded her of how she used to be (though she was never that bad).
- As proud as Kayla is of her athletic prowess, she's surprisingly self-conscious and doesn't like to be called boyish in appearance.
- Kayla has a sister who is also a wrestler in America.

Fighting Style: Kayla fights a well-rounded style with aspects of other martial arts mixed in with wrestling. She's a hard hitter, though more in the sense of careful strikes than all-out brawling; coming to Japan has led to her taking interest in strong style and seeing how she can incorporate it into her moveset. She also has a respectable degree of holds and technical moves, having an amateur background. However, she's less practiced in high-flying maneuvers, preferring to work a more practical grounded style over being flashy - she wants her own skills to come across first and foremost, and she doesn't see any reason to waste effort on what looks fancy rather than what's effective. She's rare to resort to underhanded tactics, preferring her own hard work and spirit to carry her through.
Favored Match Types: Even though she's part of a tag team, Kayla is just as keen to perform in singles matches. No matter the match, she always tries her best, putting her spirit into her art and striving to live up to her potential. Hardcore matches aren't her style, as she deems that it doesn't take any skill. She also isn't the biggest fan of substance matches or bouts on the beach, seeing them as cheap and embarrassing, but Ash has managed to convince her to give it a try, and she can be persuaded into it.

Relationships with Other Characters:
- Ash Daniels is Kayla's tag partner and a close friend since their training days. She wishes that Ash would take her wrestling more seriously, but she respects her abilities and feels she could go far if she only knew how to apply herself to the fullest. As of their match with the Kiyoko Sisters, their relationship has grown more strained thanks to Ash's attempts at interference.
- Kayla would later come to befriend Kennedy Lee (who, coincidentally, was dating her sister Haleigh back in America), forming a team known as the Jungle Pride with her and Ash. She admires Kennedy for her strength and willpower, although her hard-partying ways can sometimes prove a bad influence on Ashley, which only frustrates her more.
