First time around the gym

Kyoko had been mostly quiet since she came to LAW. While there had been some old faces there weren't really faces she was used to talking to or hanging out with. For the most part she had been by herself every time she came around here and that was fine, less disturbances but it did get repetitively quiet in her spare time.

So for now she was mostly to herself working on a minor workout for the day while she cleared her head and waited for a call to get back into things. Bench pressing her weight with a trainer who agreed to spot her for a second while focusing on the reps.

Not many guys in the LAW gym, save for a sparse few. Those few that are present are trainers - save for at least one in particular.

Enter one bright-eyed and proverbially bushy-tailed young man named Blaise. Despite not being in LAW, even as an official trainer, he's starting to become a more recognizable face among the ranks; fraternizing, one could say. Dressed in typical workout attire consisting of a simple, loose-fitted gray tanktop and silver shorts with blue piping, and a pair of white cross-trainers, Blaise looks ready to hit...

...well, actually, he looks a little unsure. He makes his way through the gym, gaze flitting here and there to the machines available. His actual objective is to stay out of the way of the roster. That's not likely to last long. But his course does bring him near Kyoko, glancing first to her spotter, then to her.

Just about finishing her rep Kyoko tried to focus and closed her eyes as she pushed the barbell up once more. Bringing it down she went for one more push upwards before setting it down with the help of her spotter. Sighing she took a second before sitting up and rolling her shoulders. It was a good set but she felt like she could do more or go bigger.

Then she noticed she was being watched. By a guy, she didn't even know they let them wrestle here. "Um...Can I help you?" She asked looking up at him. Her spotter eyeing the guy as well as they both tried to figure out why he was staring.

A glance! That's all it was! Less than two seconds to each one, but maybe cumulatively between them both! And yet, here he is, getting those looks and a loaded question. Put on the spot, Blaise is now definitely staring; but in neither a pervy nor flattering way. The situation has turned awkward. The only answer he can come up with is a blunt one.

"No?"

Beat.

"Why?"

"Well your looking at me so I'm not sure if your familiar with me or if you had something to say? Am I in your spot, you know who I am? I'm just wondering what it could be." She said looking at him as the spotter excused herself. Kyoko's set being done meant there wasn't a need for her anymore.

Kyoko however stayed put and looked at the man. She wasn't sure if she had seen him before, certaintly not where she worked last which was a women dominate workplace but maybe somewhere else? She waited for him to speak and talk things over.

"Wha? Nonono," refutes Blaise, "you're not in my spot. I don't even have a spot."

The things a glance does. Woof.

"No, I don't recognize you. But t'be fair, I've not been in Japan very long. Still kind'a new." He spares another glance, this time in either direction, taking stock of those strewn about the gym. The bright blues return to her with a blunt question: "Wrestler, right?"

Now he just seemed all over the place. Like he was on the spot and didn't quite know how to handle it. She was kinda annoyed he didn't know who she was but then again not every person was an avid wrestling fan. Still she kept waiting for him to say something she could respond too, which she finally got at his own question.

"Correct. Ive been wrestling for over 2 years now, and working at this Law place for a few weeks though I hope to be a long time staying member here. So with that in mind who are you exactly?" She asked.

She's been with them for a few weeks? Bad timing on when he's been watching, then. Of course, the conclusion that she's a part of the roster was a pretty easy one to reach; location tells it all. He'd have to assume she's been a wrestler for over two years in Japan, so he wouldn't have a lot of exposure there.

Unless she were one of the Wrestle Angels. Now those are an exception. Yes, they are.

Her counter-question gives him an opportunity to attempt to change the tenor of the conversation. "Who exactly am I exactly?," he reflects as he turns aside from her. "I don't know if anyone can answer that question." His head tips back, lips pursed in deep, albeit affected thought. "Can a man ever really know?"

Following a brief pause, he turns back to her quickly with the faux-philosophical act dropped and replaced with a modest smile. "I'm Blaise. Been a wrestler for a while, myself. Obviously not with, uh, you guys, but yeah. Transferred over to Japan from America."

"You can, since if no one else can tell me whatever you say is true until proven otherwise." She said simply trying to get him to answer the question. When he finally did she observed him a bit more. He certainly looked American, she wrestled one from time to time and only a few males. Then again at places like these she wrestled girls from all over the place.

"Well that's what I thought given how to my knowledge there is no male division in LAW at least not yet though there doesn't seem to be much interest in making one. So..what exactly are you doing here if not wrestling? A trainer? Talent scout? Just hoping mixed wrestling becomes legal here?"

No smile, no chuckle, just an analytical response to a rhetorical question. Blaise's humor dries rapidly, brow knitting at her.

Her returned question puts him on guard. He's talked to more than a few females from this federation - usually to good ends. This seems markedly less amiable, more intense; no levity to be found here. In the end, if she didn't get he was joking earlier, she's not likely to get his reasoning for being on 'their turf'. So there really isn't a right answer to this question, is there?

"Nope. Nope. Nope," he says, voice flatter than before, and then dismisses it all with a shake of his head. "Doesn't matter. I've interrupted your training, and I'm gonna let you get back to it. Nice meeting you." He steps back, fully prepared to take his leave from the enormously awkward and uncomfortable encounter.
