RYUSAKI ISHIDA

Date of Birth: April 20, 1998
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 200 lbs
Build: Muscular, yet lean and flexible.
Physicality: Agile and fairly strong, with steady movements and solid lifting strength. Good speed on the mat to set up and escape holds, but low mobility in terms of covering ground or utilizing the ring ropes or turnbuckles in his moves.
Hometown: Kyoto, Japan
Entrance Theme: None, as of yet. “I will find what’s right, in time,” he says.

Background: President of his school’s amateur wrestling and judo clubs, Ishida was a natural applicant to the training dojo of All-Japan Kings of Wrestling [AJKW]. There, he has eaten, slept and breathed wrestling on a constant basis, enduring one of the most grueling training regimens in the sport in order to some day continue the glory of the long-running promotion.
After a match with a multiple-time International Champion, however, Ishida received some advice that drives him, being told he ‘wrestles like Player One.’ Well-balanced and fundamentally solid, Ishida lacked the distinctive qualities he would need if he were to ever graduate to the heavyweight division. Now on his excursion, wrestling for other promotions to learn what he can before returning to AJKW, Ishida has decided that the unorthodox and diverse styles found in LAW will be exactly what he needs to find himself in the ring and isolate the quality that will make him a star.

Training & Style: Ishida began his wrestling career early, learning judo and Greco-Roman in school. When he joined the AJKW Dojo, wrestling became his singular focus. Still very young and inexperienced, Ishida has nonetheless been given an opportunity to pursue wrestling as his full-time passion, and as such he has a wide repertoire of moves to fall back on. While trained to deliver the hard-hitting strikes that characterize much of Japanese wrestling, Ishida prefers to lean back on grappling, only relying on strikes when in close quarters.
Experience: Ishida has roughly a year of actual, in-ring experience under his belt. However, he has been grappling since his teenage years, and gained a great deal of ring wisdom from serving as a ‘young boy’ second to several of the more experienced Japanese wrestlers of AJKW.
Signature Moves: Traditional grappling moves, such as armbars, takedowns, and a multitude of suplex variations. Will work in knee strikes and elbow drops to soften up an opponent whenever he can, especially if he has them trapped in a headlock that will allow him to do it.
Specialty Move-
Fisherman’s Buster Suplex: With an opponent trapped in a headlock, Ishida will reach down to hook their leg before pulling them up and over for the suplex. He will then bridge this into a pin attempt.
Favorite Match: The traditional, one-fall match. However, as he is on his excursion, Ishida feels like he shouldn’t refuse any match, no matter how unorthodox it may be.

Attitude: Ishida has a strictly professional attitude when it comes to wrestling, with a cool demeanor. He’s rarely intimidated, trying to focus on his own ring work before letting an opponent get into his head. He’s also very devoted to his excursion, even though he hasn’t left Japan yet, and he feels it’s important he doesn’t turn down new challenges and experiencing new styles. That said, Ishida is also something of a puroresu purist, strongly believing the Japanese style of wrestling to be the greatest expression of the sport. This leads him to sometimes take opponents (especially more theatrical ones) much too lightly. Ishida’s also something of a poor loser, taking any defeat as a slight not just against himself, but against his trainers at the AJKW Dojo. He has a bit of a dark side as well, however; his training was very rigorous and painful, and a deep, dark part of him likes returning that pain to some of his opponents in the ring.

Crowd Reaction/Fan Base: Currently, Ishida wrestles a dignified, confident style that gets the respect from many fans of the sport. However, he lacks the character and personality in the ring that makes them stand up and take notice in large numbers.

Titles Held: None
Career Highlights: Acceptance to the AJKW Dojo
Wrestling Ambitions: To draw out more of his personality in the ring and connect with the fans, so that he can return to AJKW and hopefully someday become the kind of crowd-commanding ace that will return the company to its former glory!
LAW Match Record:
TBD

SOCIAL GROUP
Partners, friends, etc: “Friends and allies are good, but I am not a tag team specialist. Puroresu is about being the best, and only one person in the ring at any given time can truly be the best.”
Favorite opponents/rivals: “I hope to find a rival who can truly challenge me while I am on my excursion. Without just leaving me in their dust …”
Most feared/hated opponents: “I have yet to find a rival that I truly hate, or an opponent who I can fear. Even the most brutal enemy is another opportunity to learn!”
Biggest Win: “Whichever match is next …”
Worst Loss: “Well, I did have a match against a clown-like wrestler in AJKW, who tricked me and rolled me up inside of three minutes. The worst part though, was that he did his post-match interview right there in the ring … with me still trapped in the rollup!”

Trivia & Fun Facts:

- Ishida remains in contact with the fellow students from his high school, who have become his first fanbase. He carries their hopes of making their school famous, some day.
