Invoking the Spirits: Yuri Yoshika vs Kanon Fujiwara

"Oh NOOOOO she's LOOOOOOSING!! NOOOOOOO!"

...As if itg hadn't been uncomfortable enough trapped in an opponent's guard and headlock. Yuri huffed in Kanon's armpit. And to make it so melodramatic. If it were anyone but Sayori, Yuri would have thought she was putting on an act. A cringey act.

"Her soul's gonna be LOST! for-EVER! COME ON, fight back Yuri! Fight for your SOUL!"

Yeesh. Sayori sounded close to tears. Yuri felt a sudden pang of guilt in her abdomen. It was meant to be a fun bit of gimmickry, not...traumatizing to her teammate.

The headlock was starting to pound a bit, though. Even Yuri knew a headlock was more of a transitional bit of posturing than a real attack, but even so, the pressure around her cranium was distinctly uncomfortable. She suspected it might blossom into a headache if it went on too long.

So—what to do, hm? Well, she didn't have leverage for good strikes, and Kanon didn't present her with much in the way of limbs to attack with...Ground wrestling. Even if Yuri did have any practical skill there. But, well. Yuri was...large compared to Kanon. So, what if she just...stood up? Perhaps that would be a bit of what Monika called "out of the box thinking."

...Or, more likely, perhaps it merely constituted a rookie's desperation. Ah well. Best to give it a try. First, she needed to pull in her knees and try to push up so she could get her feet under her, and...

As Yuri made her creaking progress towards standing while enwrapped by Kanon, her voice once more began to growl.

"Eeeeevery MOVE you make, sorceri mei, merely builds the hellfire WEEEEEE build for thee!!"

Kanon huffed under her breath, keeping her arm locked around Yuri's head. Somewhere off in the distance, someone was prattling on about nothing in particular - a fact that briefly grated at her nerves. She was, after all, attempting to make contact with a paranormal force, and that was rarely an act conducive to distractions. Besides, when did Kanon ever say that she was after her opponent's soul? But that was no matter. Yuri was the most pressing thing to deal with right now; whatever else was out there was of little importance. What mattered now was seeing just what her opponent was capable of.

And what was far more pressing was that Yuri had begun to rise - even when Kanon had her arms wrapped around her head and her legs around her waist, she was still fighting against the pressure to lift herself up from the ground! It was an impressive display of endurance, and one that won Yuri a few cheers from the crowd. Even Kanon's eyes went a little wider at the sight. Perhaps whatever spirit was occupying this vessel had imbued it with strength beyond the perceptible! But even if that was the case, the albino wasn't done just yet!

Kanon remained in place as Yuri fought her way back up onto her knees - she was willing to lie in wait and allow her foe to lift herself higher, for now. She had her own plans for how to take advantage of the position this would leave her in! When both Kanon and Yuri were brought to a position perpendicular to the ground, Kanon would suddenly release the girl's head, leaning backward to plant her palms against the surface of the mat in order to support her weight. If she could do that, she'd roll her weight onto the palms of her hands, doing a handstand - only so that she could release Yuri's waist and instead sling her legs around her head! If she could secure a headscissor, she would then roll her weight to the side to try and bowl Yuri over, in a hurricanrana!
