[Standard Match] Charlotte Ravel' vs Theodora Simmons - How to combine the incompatible?

Was it a risk? Definitely. Anything could happen during a match, Charlotte knew that, and so she usually tried to act with sufficient caution. There was a possibility that by lifting Theodora to her feet, she would give her opponent the opportunity to counterattack. But then why she decided to make another move that could turn the scales back to the side of the purple-haired woman?

Charlotte tried never to trust her emotions, but she used to trust her gut.

Theodora offered no resistance as she was rolled over onto her back, her eyes half-lidded and her lips parted slightly. At this point, it would take massive effort from her to actually get up from this, and from the look of it, it seemed that Charlotte wasn't going to give her any room to recover from the impactful move earlier. It was clear now that Charlotte was going to end this match with a pin.

Charlotte sat on Theodora's ample chest, her legs pulled up as she was covered in a pin. The referee slid next to them and started counting for the pin, and as the referee's palm hit the canvas, Theodora showed no sign of getting up or breaking the pinfall attempt.

With the third count, the match was over. The referee immediately called for the bell, ending the match with Charlotte's victory. It was Theodora's loss.

Charlotte wasn't the type to celebrate a victory in advance. Especially when it comes to fighters like Theodora. Therefore, even after the referee slapped the mat for the second time, the Frenchwoman did not relax her vigilance. She continued to hold her opponent's legs tightly while her heart was beating at an incredible rate. Even when the striped shirt raised her hand for the third time, she wasn't ready to believe that the match could end right now. But then…

Charlotte let out a sigh of relief in a burst of emotion, and at the same time the arena was filled with applause. Maintaining her composure, the pink-haired woman smoothly lowered Theodora's legs back onto the mat, and then got off her opponent. When she took a step to the side, the referee approached her. The striped shirt took the martial arts master's right hand and raised it up, officially recognizing her as the winner of the match.

At this point, Charlotte allowed herself to smile. She always tried to put away all emotions during a match. But she would be lying if she said there was nothing personal about this match. Theodora believed that Charlotte would make her bored, and this became a challenge for the Frenchwoman. In this match, she wanted to earn the respect of the purple-haired woman. And maybe now was the time to see if she had succeeded.

Not wanting to waste too much time on her triumph, the Sand Lizard took a step towards her rival. For just a second she seemed to freeze, looking into Theodora's eyes, and then she smiled slightly. Leaning over to the purple-haired woman, she extended her hand, thereby both showing sports respect and offering her help to get to her feet.

“Good match,” she said with all seriousness. “And you're a great fighter, Theodora, I like your style.” Charlotte had no qualms about admitting that she would love to learn a few moves from Theodora's arsenal. “I hope you won't refuse to meet in the ring again someday?”

Lying on the mat, Theodora wheezed, still struggling to think clearly. By the time the bell was rung, she realized that she had lost. She covered her eyes with her forearm, feeling the sting of defeat even though she already knew that losses were unavoidable in this sacred squared circle. She could hear the crowd cheering for her opponent, who had defeated her decisively.

And then, she heard Charlotte's voice, and Theodora removed her forearm from her eyes, seeing the opponent who had just defeated her offering her a hand, as if to help her up. She scoffed at this display of sportsmanship, but soon, she accepted the hand and allowed herself to be helped up.

Calming herself down, Theodora listened to what Charlotte was saying. Sighing, she replied to her, "Next time, I'll be the victorious one. Just you wait." After that, she turned around and made her exit. She hobbled slightly, still feeling the ringing in her head. She thought about taking a rest for the rest of the night. She gave her opponent one last glance before she disappeared backstage.

Theodora's reaction was about what Charlotte had expected. The Frenchwoman was not naive and was sure that her opponent was extremely unhappy with the defeat. In her place, Charlotte would feel the same way. However, the purple-haired woman responded to Charlotte's gesture and accepted the hand.

After listening to the Sand Lizard, she promised the martial artist that she would be the winner in their next match. Without pausing, Theodora quickly left the ring and Charlotte looked after her rival.

“Yet... I'm not going to lose either...” she muttered, despite the fact that Theodora couldn't hear her.

Taking a deep breath, Charlotte also left the ring. As soon as her feet touched the concrete floor, the arena was once again filled with the noise of the audience cheering for today's winner. The Frenchwoman smiled broadly.

Sometimes she wondered if they would have supported her if they had known what she was hiding in her soul. Her aspirations to become the best fighter and an example for the next generations were noble, but these aspirations were not crystal sincere. Does she really deserve to be at the top one day if she can't be honest not only with the fans, but with herself?

She might have to answer that question someday, but definitely not today. Today, she has become one step closer to her goal. Every match is a step up and soon her hard work will pay off. She was sure of it. Soon she will be able to prove her worth and at the same time she will no longer have to run away from her past. With these thoughts, the Sand Lizard disappeared behind the curtains.
