A Wild Night: Starlight vs Alexandria Wild [Prisoner of War Match]

Post by Parker »

Match Type: Prisoner of War, One Fall
Victory Conditions: Pinfall, submission, knockout, count out, or disqualification.

The muffled roar of the crowd rumbled through the hallway like distant thunder, the kind of sound that made Starlight’s pulse quicken in rhythm. The glow of the arena lights seeped faintly through the curtain ahead, shimmering off the polished white and gold of her gear. She adjusted one of her elbow pads, and exhaled slow, steady breaths. This wasn’t just some spar tonight, no do-overs, no resets. The stakes were big. Massive. Super mega huge!

Her shinai rested upright against the wall beside her, its handle wrapped in white cloth and gold cord. Her fingertips brushed the smooth bamboo, not to wield it, but to ground herself. The smell of oil and resin brought her back to the dojo, to discipline, to practice, to everything Nova had taught her about control and focus. She grinned faintly. “Right… focus. And have fun.”

Across from her stood Nova Steele, arms crossed, gaze sharp but not unkind. The veteran’s pink hair was warm under the overhead light, her stance composed and steady, the kind of calm that came from years of battle under bright lights and louder crowds.

“Remember your breathing,”
Nova said, voice even, with that faint mentor’s authority that somehow never sounded condescending. “You’ve got the speed and the heart to stand toe to toe with anyone out there, but if you rush in blind, you’ll trip over your own shine.”

Starlight puffed out a small laugh, bouncing on her heels to shake off the nerves. “Heh, yeah, yeah… I know. Just… I’m excited to get out there and really do this.” She rubbed the back of her neck, bangs brushing her brow. “But you’re right. Stay cool. Focus. Don’t get blinded by my own sparkle.”

Nova smirked. “Exactly. You don’t need to shine brighter than anyone, Starlight, just light the way.”

Something about that hit her right in the chest. Starlight straightened, her usual bubbly grin curling across her face again. “You always make it sound so cool when you say stuff like that.” She reached for her shinai, giving it a small twirl before resting the blunt blade against her shoulder. “Alright then. I’m ready.

Nova’s hand found her shoulder, firm and reassuring. “You’ve trained for this. Trust yourself. And remember, heroes don’t wait for the spotlight. They make it.”

The rookie’s heart swelled. She bounced once, twice, then beamed toward the entrance curtain. “Okay! Time to make this night a little bright!”

Cosmic Drift - SYNTHKRONE
Her music hit, with bright synths and a cosmic rhythm, and the crowd erupted. As the lights shifted to white and gold,

burst through the curtain with a radiant grin, her long dark ponytail whipping behind her, and her gleaming gear catching the strobes like she was made of sunlight itself. She hefted the shinai off her shoulder, letting it glide through the air slowly, the capped tip pointing over the audience until it stopped facing one of the cameras and mouthed, “Let’s shine!”

She sprinted down the ramp full-tilt, her long ponytail streaming behind her like a comet’s trail. Every stride was light and graceful, but bursting with unrestrained joy, the kind of run that said she wasn’t just entering the arena; she was coming home to it.

As she reached the bottom, she didn’t slow. She sprang up, but stayed low to slide beneath the bottom rope, her momentum carrying her across the mat in one smooth, practiced motion. The second her shoulders cleared the ropes, she pushed up onto her knees, springing to her feet in one fluid movement, and the crowd roared louder for it.

With her shinai in her hand she gave it a single twirl, the bamboo slats catching the light with a soft hiss as it cut through the air. Then, she moved, quick, rhythmic, and sharp.

She threw herself into a cartwheel, which flowed into a single arm handspring, then into a tight forward flip that ended with her landing in a low crouch, weapon poised. The transitions were seamless, her body gleaming under the lights with the confidence of someone who’d drilled these motions a thousand times over. She rose with a spin, bringing the shinai around her back, across her chest, and then above her head before striking forward, a phantom duel with an invisible opponent.

Each swing came faster, more deliberate, her expression focused but playful. Every slash was met with a wave of cheers from the crowd, each one sharper, more graceful than the last. When she stopped, it wasn’t abrupt, it was a perfect stillness, her stance balanced, her chest rising lightly as she held the shinai steady.

Then, with the kind of charm only she could pull off, Starlight broke into a bright smile and gave a quick salute to the crowd before turning to the referee.

She bowed deeply, both hands wrapped around the shinai as she presented it with respect, not as a prop, but as something sacred. The referee nodded, taking it carefully, and signaled to a stagehand at ringside, who accepted it for safekeeping at the timekeeper’s area.

Starlight straightened, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear, then rolled her shoulders with an excited bounce. Without the shinai in hand, she looked lighter, freer, the radiant young lioness ready to prove she could shine on her own.

The Young Lioness program. Something that had become a staple of LAW, initiated some time ago that now saw several promising young wrestlers join in under it's banner, it had brought the wrestling promotion plenty of new talent that the LAW fans could sink their teeth into. It was no different tonight, as Hailey Cho, a wrestler very closely associated with Nova Steele, an already established talent within the promotion, the two sharing in their superheroine themes and their status as faces! The crowd was eager to see the newer wrestler, and Nova herself was prepping the young star for her debut match, plenty of emphasis being put on having a good first showing. And yet, at the exact same time, a different conversation was occurring nearby, as the woman set to be Starlight's opponent was in the midst of her own conversation backstage, though the context was quite different.

"Young Lioness... what an absolute disgrace. There's only one lion here in LAW, and those bloody imbeciles have the nerve to name themselves even anything close." A stern voice rang out, complaining about the name of LAW's program for wrestlers still honing their craft, one that came from none other than Elizabeth Wild, a woman proclaimed a lion herself. Elizabeth wasn't Hailey's opponent, however, as that would be the one that Elizabeth's complaint would be reaching the ears of, that being her younger sister, Alexandria Wild!
Spoiler

"Oi, could you give it a rest? You're not the one facing her after all, I'm the one that got stuck with babysitting duty." The blonde bemoaned, none too happy about the fact that she had been given a Young Lioness for her opponent tonight. In Alexandria's eyes, handing her a fledgling wrestler as her match partner was something of a insult to her, something to keep her occupied instead of truly allowing her to show what she could do. And with such wrestlers as Ember Sykes and the two princesses she had met needing some payback in her eyes, she couldn't help but feel she was spinning her wheels. Still, it was nothing that a little beatdown on a jobber couldn't fix.

Tch. Fine, just get out there and sort this whole mess out quickly, will you? We've better things to be doing." Elizabeth prompted, as she made for the exit of the locker room, turning back and fixing her sister with a stern look. "And don't mess about out there. If some little twat who barely has the right to be here gets the best of you, I'll not enjoy having to come down there." Alexandria rolled her eyes in response.

"Yeah yeah. I'll sort her out quick and we'll be back to business as usual, don't you worry." The blonde replied, standing up and getting ready to leave, rolling her shoulders as she readied her body. She had a lesson to teach tonight.
-----------------------
The moment that Hailey's display had finished in the ring, the lights would turn to the top of the ramp, and Alexandria Wild would waste no time in stepping out onto the top of the ramp, the blonde confidently walking towards the ring with a smirk on her face. In contrast to Hailey's impressive display, filled with her showing off her kendo skills, Alexandria's entrance was much more laid back and left plenty of time for her to make her way to the ring and take up all the time that she felt she deserved. The crowd, well aware of her heelish antics, showed her a mixed reception, but she didn't even spare them a glance as she finally reached the ring, hopping onto the apron and slipping into the squared circle.

Once inside, the blonde would turn and eye her opponent with a judgmental look, eyes scanning the would-be hero up and down for a moment, before finally, a small smile would make it's way across her face. It seemed that whatever she had been evaluating Hailey for, she had found the Young Lioness suitable in that regard, and after a moment, she'd turn to face her, throwing a slight grin her way.

"Don't worry love, this won't take long at all." The blonde called out across the ring, bouncing up and down on the balls of her feet as she prepped herself for what she anticipated to be a very short match!

The moment Alexandria stepped through the curtain, Starlight’s whole face lit up like the lights above her had turned into fireworks. She bounced on her toes near her corner, clapping her hands together as if she were watching a celebrity walk down the ramp rather than the woman she was about to wrestle. This was real, it was actually happening!

“Whoa, she’s looks cool,” she whispered under her breath, practically sparkling with excitement as Alexandria made her long, deliberate entrance. Every strut, every flick of her hair, Hailey ate it up like it was the best pre-show performance she’d ever seen. By the time the blonde reached the ring and glanced her way, Starlight was already grinning ear to ear, waving enthusiastically like a kid greeting a friend across a playground.

"Hi! Hi! I love your fuzzy boots!" she called, giving a cheerful double wave when Alexandria turned her gaze her way.

The look Alexandria gave her in return, that cool, judgmental once-over, didn’t dim Starlight’s energy in the slightest. If anything, she straightened up, hands behind her back, rocking heel to toe like a proud student being evaluated by her favorite teacher. When Alexandria finally smiled, Hailey took it as a good sign.

"Oh, yay! I knew you’d like me!" she chirped, oblivious to the undertone.

When Alexandria claimed the match wouldn’t take very long, Starlight’s eyes widened for a beat, her jaw dropping slightly. Then she puffed her cheeks, frowning with earnest concern.

"Hey, don’t say that!" she called back across the ring, placing her hands on her hips with the authority of a coach giving a pep talk for the big game. "You gotta believe in yourself! Even if it feels hard, matches can go any way if you just give it your all! I’m sure you’ll be able to keep up with me"

There were murmurs and some chuckles in the ringside area, the referee barely hiding a smirk as Starlight nodded firmly, full of pure, misplaced encouragement. Clearly, she thought the other woman was suffering from the jitters and believed she’d be the one performing poorly tonight. Starlight couldn’t stand for that.

"You’ve got this!" she added brightly, giving a big thumbs up as she dropped into her ready stance, completely unaware she had just cheered on the woman planning to flatten her.

Making her way down to the ring, Alexandria carried with herself an air of supreme confidence, the blonde Brit scarcely even casting a glance towards the crowd as she instead kept her eyes straight ahead, a smirk covering her face as she arrived at the ring. Slipping between the ropes and into the squared circle, the middleweight would finally cast her eyes over to her Young Lioness opponent, eyes scanning her up and down as the woman beamed back at her, looking all too excited for the squash match that Alexandria planned to put on. The black haired beauty even happened to throw a compliment her way as she rocked back and forth on her feet, one that the cheetah took in stride, shooting a look down at her boots before back at her foe. She felt like she could get the measure of Hailey right away, and the blonde woman had found absolutely no challenge in front of her.

She was confident enough to even call out across the ring, declaring that this would be a quick match. And to her surprise, her foe seemed quite ready to rebuff her claim... just not in the fashion that she expected.

"Wh... what?" Alexandria's eyebrows raised as her smile disappeared, hearing Starlight reassure her that she would do great, and not to be too down on herself. Did... did Starlight think that Alexandria was talking about herself? It was such a baffling misunderstanding that she was too busy processing it to be mad, her face wearing a confused expression even as Starlight got into her ready stance, lowering herself and bring her hands up. But as her foe gave her a few last words of encouragement and a thumbs up, Alexandria shook her head, only able to offer a brief reply to the positive words.

"Right. You sure got that right..." Alexandria trailed off, and as the bell rang, the cheetah suddenly burst into action, darting forwards with speed that showcased exactly why she had the title that she did! Attempting to act before her foe even got the chance, Alexandria would launch herself towards Starlight, leaping up and shooting her feet out as she attempted to blast her foe with a sudden dropkick to start off the match!

Starlight leaned low, bouncing lightly on the balls of her feet, every inch of her body alive with bright, nervous energy. Her stance was tight — knees bent, arms raised, her whole frame humming with anticipation. The crowd’s noise seemed to fade around her as she focused on her opponent. This was a real match, a chance to prove she wasn’t just a wide-eyed rookie in shiny gear.

"Alright then! Let’s-"

The rest of her sentence vanished in a sharp gasp. Alexandria didn’t circle, didn’t even pretend to square up, the blonde Brit launched herself forward, a pink-and-black blur cutting across the ring before Starlight even registered the movement.

Her heroic grin froze just before impact.

Both of Alexandria’s fuzzy boots crashed into her chest with a heavy, echoing thud, the sound more like a car door slamming than a kick. The air shot clean out of Starlight’s lungs as she stumbled back, her boots skidding helplessly against the mat before gravity yanked her down. She hit hard, the ring rattling beneath her as her limbs flopped outward in a sprawl.

For a moment, she just lay there, wide-eyed, blinking up at the blinding ceiling lights. The world tilted slightly to one side. Her hair fanned messily around her head like a black halo, her chest heaving as she tried to remember what air was supposed to feel like.

"W-wait- dropkicks come after the lock-up, don’t they?!" she croaked, the words breaking somewhere between a groan and a complaint.

The crowd laughed sympathetically, but Starlight wasn’t defeated — just dazed. She blinked away the stars swimming in her vision, pushing up slowly onto one elbow. Her hand found her chest, rubbing the sting where Alexandria’s boots had landed. A cough slipped out of her, followed by a small, sheepish laugh.

"Heh… you’re pretty fast, huh?" she muttered out loud, still breathless but smiling all the same. Even sprawled and sore, there was a spark in her eyes, part embarrassment, part admiration.

Despite being truly, and she did mean truly, baffled by Starlight's misunderstanding when it came to her trash talk, Alexandria was at least able to focus her body and mind on the match as the bell rang, and so out from the corner she would shoot. Few could match the speed of the cheetah even outside the halls of LAW, and Starlight was certainly not equipped to handle the sudden blitz from the blonde, Alexa closing the distance in an instant before she leaped towards her foe, coiling her body tight as she flew through the air. And then, all at once, her legs exploded outward, blasting Starlight directly in center mass and sending her flying back a short few steps before her body was unable to keep up with the force that had been applied to her.

Alexandria would land on the mat at around the same time that Starlight did, but the blonde almost immediately popped back up to her feet, looking quite pleased with herself as she examined the downed wrestler in front of her. That simple strategy, a sudden rush that Starlight had been unable to stop, told Alexandria everything that she needed to know about her opponent, and how prepared she was for this match.

In short... Alexandria was going to steamroll her.

The breathless comments from the still smiling Young Lioness would draw a sneer from Alexandria, the corner of her mouth curving upwards as she reached down and snatched up her foe, pulling her up and suddenly wrapping an arm around Hailey's head, pulling her to the center of the ring!

"You've got no idea, love." She snickered, before Alexandria would suddenly fling herself backwards, taking Starlight's trapped head with her as she dropped, bringing her opponent down right on the top of her head! The DDT would be designed to plant Starlight and leave her as open as could be to the middleweight heel, priming her for a showcase that the crowd would certainly not soon forget!

Starlight’s chest ached as she shifted on the mat, half turning over to lie partially sprawled on her side, unintentionally looking the part of a pin-up model. She pressed a palm to the mat, intending to start her rise when a shadow stretched over her. The blonde’s hand beneath her chin and shoulder, dragging her upright like a stubborn weight. Starlight’s boots scraped against the canvas as she was pulled to her knees, her body still wobbling, disoriented but trying to resist. She was led off balance as the veteran was dictating the pace.

"H-hey wait!" The protest came out small, more startled than fierce, and it died in a yelp the instant Alexandria yanked her upright. The veteran’s arm looped tight around her head, jerking her into a suffocating headlock that crushed the breath from her throat. The sudden squeeze forced a grunt from the young Lioness, her hands instinctively clutching at Alexandria’s waist as she felt herself being hauled toward the center of the ring.

She braced, trying to plant her feet and twist her hips, desperate to lift or shove her way out before the blonde could set her trap. Her arms wrapped around Alexandria’s midsection, muscles trembling as she prepared to hoist her, but the motion was too slow, too late.

Alexandria dropped back in a flash.

The world tilted, then crashed. The DDT spiked Starlight clean into the canvas, her head bouncing sharply off the mat before her whole body folded in on itself and sprawled limp. She flopped face down, fingers twitching faintly against the mat, chest rising and falling in short, dazed breaths.

"Unnngh…" she groaned faintly, voice muffled by the mat with a dazed, and breathless huff.

With a burst of speed, Alexandria had taken over this match from nearly the first instant, as she blasted Starlight backwards with a dropkick that took the air right out of her, sending the Young Lioness to the canvas with a thud, the blonde almost immediately popping back up. It filled her with no small amount of confidence that Hailey had been unable to fend off her first attack, and so she moved with an air of even greater confidence as she reached down, grabbing hold of the black haired heroine and hoisting her up. Pulling Hailey to her feet, Alexandria quickly secured a grip around her head, getting a firm grip before she walked Starlight towards the middle of the ring, making sure she had a nice and open place to throw herself backwards, and drill her foe's head to the mat with a DDT!

The impact would echo throughout the arena, and Alexandria could feel through the ring shaking that she had hit Starlight hard, her opponent nearly staying on her head for a moment before she collapsed to the mat! Her body limp and falling to the canvas, Alexandria stood once more, and with a lackadaisical air to her, she would bend down to collect Starlight once more, gripping her underneath the arms as she pulled her up to her feet, giving her a little shake to wake her up!

"No waiting I'm afraid. Maybe you oughta consider an early submission, to save face!" She said with a smirk, before she reached out to snag Starlight's wrist, twisting and sending her opponent careening into the corner of the ring, rushing towards the corner post with speed that she couldn't hope to manage, given her dazed state.

"You won't save it fast enough though!" Alexandria said, and as Starlight hit the corner post, the cheetah would be close behind, having followed her towards the corner, turning to the side as Starlight made impact! With one smooth motion, Alexandria would shoot her leg up and out, sending the bottom of those fuzzy boots Starlight had complimented crashing into the heroine's head, hitting her with a huge superkick in the corner the second that she made it there!

As Alexandria peeled her off the mat, her body hung mostly limp in her arms. Head dropped low, the length of her black ponytail snaking along the mat. She was relatively light, pliant in her state of helplessness so the blonde made easy work of handling her. It wasn't until she jostled the poor rookie that the girl even stirred but then she seemed hazy and mostly unresponsive.

The Young Lioness stumbled as she was yanked upright, boots dragging against the mat. Her legs felt like rubber, her body still buzzing from the earlier impact. Alexandria’s grip was firm, shaking her once, twice, just to remind her who was dictating the pace. “Nngh…I can.. get up…” she protested in a huffed breath, caught somewhere between being woken up in the morning from a night’s sleep to the actual peril she was in.

"You...like my face?" She murmured in a stupior. Alexandria didn't need to hurry, all that speed and no real need for it. The handling of the helpless heroine already earned her a fair share of jeers mixed in with words of encouragement for Starlight that fell on deaf ears. She shifted her weight as she tried to lean away from her captor, a weak shove that only ended with her wrist being snatched by Alexandria. “H-Heroes don't… surrender…”

Her body flowed into motion unnaturally, yanked by the arm the rest of her seemed t lag behind. The whip sent her awkwardly running across the ring, momentum dragging her faster than her feet could manage. Starlight barely managed to twist her body before the corner met her, slamming her back to turnbuckles with a sharp thud, her frame bouncing from the impact as pain shot up her spine.

“Ungh!” Before she could breathe, Alexandria was already on her.

The blonde pivoted into her charge, the motion fluid and practiced. Starlight saw the boot only for a flash, a streak of pink fur whistling through the air before it caught her perfectly under the jaw. The sound CRACKED through the arena like a gunshot. Her head flew back with a whip of her ponytail, body snapping taut before she collapsed back into the ropes. Her arms slipped down along the top rope until the inside of her elbows snagged, leaving her dangling like a broken marionette with her legs tangled beneath her unable to hold her weight. Her head slowly rolled forward and dipped, her trimmed bangs hanging over her face as she let out a shaky deflating breath.

Alexandria's swift drop to the canvas had brought Hailey down hard, and the affable heroine was now struggling with having her bell rung in the most painful of ways, all while the blonde middleweight rose up with no issue, eyeing the downed woman. Starlight was lying in a heap, and when Alexandria grabbed hold of her and began to guide her back upwards, the black haired beauty would barely offer anything other than a slight lean in the opposite direction, seemingly trying to escape the cheetah's clutches. But in spite of that, and her groan of heroes not surrendering, she would find herself gripped by the wrist, with Alexandria soon hurling her into the corner, watching as her foe crashed into the turnbuckle! And with the distance closed between them, the blonde would swing a leg up, and a crack would resound through the arena as she booted Starlight flush on the chin!

The impact whipped her foe's head back so hard it looked like she would fly over the top rope for a moment, before her body completely gave out, slipping down with only her arms managing to keep her up. Alexandria would take care of that, however, when she stepped forwards and grabbed Starlight's arms, flipping them back over the rope and kicking her legs out from under her to drop her down to her rear in the corner. She'd kneel down and grab hold of the weary woman's head, lifting it up and getting a good look into her dazed eyes!

"Sure love, your face has a little... I guess I'd call it 'pathetic charm' to it. Now stay right there, I'll show you how much I like it." Alexandria patted her foe, before turning and running to an adjacent corner, very quickly climbing the buckles and perching herself atop the top rope, rotating to face the cornered woman again!

"Looking great love!" Alexandria sneered, before she would crouch down low, only to shoot forwards and leap clear across the length of the ring, directly towards the woman still seated in the corner! The blonde would once more shoot her legs out as she did so, aiming to end her flight across the squared circle with an even more powerful blow to Starlight, as she executed a coast to coast dropkick!
