The sudden impact of the wall felt like it had worked but as Jun would find out, dropping her arms to her sides before she moved out of grasping range was not the way she should have handled this. Because Ellie was fast enough to turn around her and pull her back into the parasitic embrace, only this time, her arms were pinned to the sides by Ellie's coiled legs.

There were a lot of ways that Jun pictured this night going. All of them had her relaxing by a pool and enjoying herself. Her opponent likely floundering as the Idol helped herself to a drink. Not the opposite.

Jun decided to test her strength in her arms, trying to pry them out but Ellie was clamped on tight. It only resulted in her expressing the effort with a face scrunched up and Ellie's legs being pushed against. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of ideas in Jun's head right now. She kept stumbling over the mouthful of mockery her opponent kept throwing her way. Scowling she bit down an angered scream to not completely lose it, but she was close.

Maybe she could have dragged Ellie away from the wall but that would mean splashing around in the center of the pool again. That came at the cost of having to just stand here and let Ellie-Mae lounge like she was hot shit so be it.

The bit to the ear didn't garner a reaction. She wouldn't dignify that and the picture captured Jun's scowled glare at Ellie while she posed for the photo. She might have been inadvertently giving Ellie everything she wanted in these, but again, hard to think right now.

"It's way too early for you to even be counting this as win. Just wait until your luck runs up."

Ellie’s daiquiri arrived with perfect timing, delivered by a baffled bartender who clearly wasn’t sure if this was a wrestling match or some kind of weird poolside performance art. Ellie reached out and took the glass with the casual grace of someone not currently strangling an idol.

She slurped obnoxiously through the straw, holding the cup in one hand, the other scrolling through comments on her phone like she was poolside at a resort and not mid-match.

“Oh, honey,” she giggled, resting her chin on Jun’s damp shoulder like they were besties taking a vacation pic. “You say that like you haven’t already lost the narrative. Go look at the feed, I’m trending, babe~”

She even turned the phone slightly to let Jun catch a glimpse: hearts, flame emojis, laughing faces, and comment after comment praising the brat's domination and dunking on the idol. "Ellie 4EVER", "Not the Moonie meltdown ", "Jun got folded like laundry!"

“Gotta say, I expected more from someone with your resume,” Ellie sighed dramatically, tucking her phone back in its pouch. “But hey, this was a great warm-up. Maybe LAW can get me someone real next time...”

And that’s when it happened.

Ellie, mid-sip of daiquiri and mid-smug monologue, did something she rarely ever did.

She relaxed.

Just for a second. Legs not as tight. Arms not ready. Too busy gloating. Too sure that Jun wouldn’t be able to do anything in this position.

Too sure.

Jun felt her submerged fists tighten in sheer annoyance. To have to watch the little upstart relaxing before her scrolling on her phone and then having the gall to flash how well she was doing on socials? Sure, it was probably her own feed so it looked worse than it was, but Jun felt a fire rush through. Ellie-Mae had reigned long enough in this match.

"So full of yourself. So sure."

Jun spat in response to the mockery just before her opponent fully embraced the meme of leisurely relaxing. It wasn't quite what Jun had expected when she decided to hold off on fighting back, but she would absolutely make sure Ellie-Mae knew that would be a mistake.

As the hold lightened, Jun slipped her hands free and brought a hand up and out of the water, drawn back. By the time Ellie had tried to move, Jun was already swinging her hand forward to that unprotected face. In the epitome of disrespect, the Idol planted the stiffest backhand across Ellie's cheek in full on retribution. Though it didn't end there. No, not nearly enough.

Jun's other hand followed darting out of the water like a crocodile to grab that once smug but now surprised chin and shove her head back, titling her head back forcibly. With a shake of her hand that backhanded, Jun grabbed that strawberry daiquiri and held it aloft.

"Tell me how you feel, now? Oh, and don't forget to finish this."

Jun spat, turning the drink over she dumped the contents onto Ellie's face!

CRACK!

Ellie’s head snapped to the side, as the sting of the backhand echoed across the pool. Her gasp was loud enough to be heard over the club music, eyes wide with disbelief. One second she was the queen of the feed, the next she was starring in a very different kind of highlight reel.

Her followers would definitely be talking about this.

Then came the hand to her jaw, shoving her head back, forcing her to look up like some bratty queen being publicly humbled on her own throne. She didn’t even have time to finish that daiquiri, because Jun did it for her.

The cold splash of slush and strawberry syrup rained down her face and soaked into her hair. Ellie let out a garbled shriek, limbs flailing for a second as she sputtered through the ice-cold mess trickling down her cheeks to her body.

Her hands slapped the water on either side of her and she snarled through gritted teeth, blinded, but not beaten.

“You little-!!”

Her arm lashed out, wild and fast, aiming to clock Jun in retaliation. She couldn’t see, didn’t care, just swinging on instinct, still tangled against her but now fighting like a cat that had just been sprayed with a hose.

If she caught her? Bonus. If not? She was already shifting to break free. She wasn't going to let a drink-dump be the last word in this.

“You just signed your damn death certificate, pop star!”

Jun had the smarts to retreat before any frantic, rage-driven retaliation came her way. She knew the pretentious wannabe would have lashed out in a temper tantrum over getting her drink rightfully dumped on her.

“Honestly I’d say doing that was too good for you. A perfectly good drink was wasted on you.”

Jun backed drew her phone out and snapped a quick picture of the humiliation.

Knowing the attempt at retaliation was coming, Jun retreated to the other end of the pool to try and climb out. She needed to get to high ground and keep this loser all soaked.

The sound of splashing water and an outraged snarl echoed behind Jun as Ellie-Mae wiped the cold slush from her face, blinking furiously through sticky strawberry syrup and rage.

Her slicked two-toned hair clung to her face as she thrashed toward the other end of the pool, eyes locked on Jun's retreating figure like a heat-seeking missile fueled by pure spite.

Jun was climbing out. Oh hell no.

With a sudden lunge through the water, Ellie launched forward like a crocodile, arms outstretched beneath the surface. Her fingers curled around Jun’s legs, one wrist locking just behind a knee, the other clasping at her ankle, and she yanked with every ounce of brat-fueled fury she had.

“Oh no you don’t, bitch!” Ellie snarled, trying to drag her right back in.

Pool water sloshed high as her arms and body worked to ruin Jun’s clean getaway, soaking them both further in the process.

Jun may have gotten her moment, but Ellie wasn’t about to let her walk away on a high note. Not without a fight.

Jun was ambushed by Ellie's lunging grab, seized by the leg and yanked back in. Jun plunged under the water, legs first.

But Jun wasn’t one to let a surprise attack go unanswered. She erupted from the water like something fierce and wild, eyes locked on Ellie with renewed determination. Launching herself forward, she tackled the blonde with a splash, arms locking tightly around her. With gritted teeth and a burst of strength, Jun wrestled Ellie-Mae downward, forcing her under the water in a sudden reversal. The air around them hissed with tension as the tables turned.

Jun’s grip tightened as she tried to haul Ellie toward the bottom of the pool, not just to trap her but to send a message. And when she had her right where she wanted, Jun let go—not out of mercy, but out of sheer defiance. With a final, pointed show of dominance, she planted her feet against Ellie’s body and kicked off, using her like a springboard. She rocketed back to the surface, hair trailing water like a comet's tail.

Jun ran her hands through her wet matted hair to fluff it out a bit.

"Honestly, a complete temper tantrum from her."

Jun mocked as she treaded over to a floating soccer ball, picking it up to then toss at Ellie the moment she surfaced. Hopefully it would that face of hers!

The water exploded again as Ellie-Mae burst back up, gasping for air, her soaked hair matted across her face, mascara barely clinging to the corners of her eyes like it was trying to escape the match too.

But the moment she sucked in that first breath-WHAP!

A floating soccer ball nailed her square in the face with a wet thud, splashing water all around as she flailed in surprise.

“GAH!” Ellie jerked back, hand flying up to catch the ball far too late. Her head snapped sideways, and for a second, she just floated there, frozen, stunned, blinking into the water-drenched void.

There was a stunned silence. Then… a growl.

“Oh. You wanna play like that?!”

Ellie surged forward, her limbs cutting through the water with furious purpose. The soccer ball bounced away behind her as she charged across the pool like a vengeful torpedo, arms swinging to part the water, legs kicking up spray in her wake.

“You’re so dead, you glitter-drenched gremlin!”

Her only goal? Jun. And this time, she wasn’t going to pose. She was going to tackle, grab, slap, dunk, whatever it took. Ellie-Mae had gone from bratty queen to brawling menace in ten seconds flat.

Jun was laughing?

It was pretty funny, she thought, when she nailed that bitch in the face dead-on. It was sort of the childish amusement you’d get from doing something cruel. Children could be cruel from an adult’s point of view, but that didn’t make them bad. Same perspective for Jun and her fans.

You know who was likely cruel and sadistic? Ellie-Mae. She didn’t even have the redemption of cute so it could counted as childish.

Jun figured fleeing again might not work so she plunged under the water and swam out deeper. That carried some inherent risks. It’d all depend on how good of a swimmer Ellie was. In a bid to conceal herself, Jun swam in a direction that was covered with floaties. When they entered, they all ended up migrating to a corner of the pool together. You wouldn’t necessarily be able to see where she’d pop up with all of them packed like that if you decided to just view from your head above the surface.

It also turned out the pool wasn’t very deep. Only 4’ at the deepest, likely to prevent party goers from easily drowning so Jun had to tuck herself low and wait. Hopefully Ellie was stupid enough to just miss her entirely.

Ellie-Mae hit the edge of where Jun had been like a torpedo overshooting its target. Water splashed up in a crashing wave, and she turned sharply, head snapping from side to side like a pissed-off shark scanning for blood. Her wild charge had led to nothing but echoing laughter and open water.

“WHERE ARE YOU?!” she barked, chest heaving, eyes narrowed.

She spun in a slow circle, dripping with fury, her ponytail clinging to her shoulder, her face still red from the soccer ball’s impact. She scanned the surface, empty. No dramatic hair flip. No smug posing. Not even a damn selfie. It didn’t make sense.

Until her gaze shifted to the corner of the pool, where the pile of floaties had conveniently gathered into a colorful cluster.

A twitch pulled at the corner of her mouth.

“Oh...you sneaky little-”

With no hesitation, Ellie dove under, legs kicking up behind her in a quick burst. Her silhouette darted through the water toward the pile, arms extended like a missile locked on target. Her cheeks puffed with held breath as she got close, and her hand snaked upward, fingers searching blindly beneath the cover of inflated flamingos, donuts, and popsicles.

If Jun was in there?

She was about to be yanked out like a fish in a net.
