Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
While true that wrestling as a sport was competition, nothing less and nothing more, it was usually not the case. Perhaps in the setting of Olympic and college wrestling, but pro-wrestling was all about making matters personal and one day Valerie might-no, would realize that. Right now she was proving to be one of the best "wrestlers" that LAW had to offer, but she was new to business and if her career would as long as her mothers or Ryu's, she would figure out that "pro-wrestling" is a lot more than just being the best "wrestler".
The crowd were now more on Valerie's side when they noticed the referee being rather harsh towards the rookie, forcing her to break off and then telling her to back up when there was no need. Valerie was also getting annoyed but remained calm and professional, showing maturity that of someone who was certainly not 19. By that point, the referee bought the veteran a few extra moments to allow him to recover and he was now back up on his feet, challenging his opponent.
The two rushed but it was Valley who struck first, delivering a kick to his chest after feigning in a grapple, sending him right back down on his back. He grunted in pain and clutched his chest as he remained down on his back.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
Good impact. Solid followthrough. Perfect execution.
Valerie couldn't have asked for too much more.
She felt the hit through her body after she connected with the dropkick, knowing it would knock him clean off his feet even as she went down. Their bodies hit the canvas at almost exactly the same time, but unlike him, she didn't stay there for too long, as she immediately threw her legs into the air and rose with a kip up, standing tall over her fallen foe.
She wouldn’t stay like that for long, however. Instead, Valerie threw herself forward into a roll over Ryu’s downed body, reaching through his legs and grabbing his shoulders as she passed over him. She pulled his body along with her as she rose to her feet, standing tall with him over her arms in a fireman’s carry, making the transition in a single, swift move.
From there, it was all academic - she fell to her side, threw him, and drove his upper back into the canvas with a Death Valley Driver - one of her finishing moves.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
After the brief moment of rest, the restless crowd was ready to see the action continue. Both of them were now on their feet and were ready to wrestle, with Ryu looking to engage in a grapple but Valerie having other ideas. She didn't want to slow the pace of the match down now, not when she had him on the ropes in this stages of the match. As the two lunged towards each other, her dropkick smacked him against the chest and he fell down to the mats, clutching his chest in pain. From there, Valley showed impressive athleticism by doing a kip up to get back up and then came the unexpected and shock surprise.
Valley would do a roll forward on top of the Dragon, grabbing his legs and shoulders as she passed over him and in one swift move, heaved him off the mats and onto her shoulders while she rose back up as well, carrying him in a fireman's carry position. It was quite clear what her next plan was, and she executed it to perfection. Falling to her side, she slammed his upper back into the canvas for a Death Valley Driver! The crowd roared in excitement at the sight of Valerie showing off strength, skill and agility all in one move to leave her opponent completely down and out on his back.
Ryu laid there with his arms and legs spread wide as he had no answer to her offence. Despite his strong and promising start to this match, there was no question that Valerie was absolutely dominating him now. It was the passing of the guard.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
Express elevator to hell.
Going. Down.
Valerie worked hard to perfect this move in particular - it was one of the few things she had both in common with both the second and first Valley Dolls. While she didn’t like to lean into the legacy thing more than she had to, especially regarding her fighting style, this was a bone she was more than willing to throw, an effective finishing move she’d learn to execute from various angles.
It was effective, laying Ryu out and leaving him spreadeagled, barely moving. Good enough for a pin?
Valerie immediately sought to find out. She threw her body on top of his body, pulled his leg in, and attempted to go for a cover. The referee moved in quick and slapped his hands against the mat, starting up the count.
”1…!”

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
The Death Valley Driver was the synonymous signature move of Valley Doll, so Ryu should have seen it coming. Perhaps he did see it coming but didn't have anything left in the tank to actually do something about it. The girl packed quite a punch and the impact of the slam shook the ring as the veteran male wrestler was left flat on his back, spreadeagled and barely moving. His world was rocked and now that all the adrenaline had left his body from his explosive start, the effect started to take its toll on his body and Ryu was really struggling.
His vision was blurry while he looked up at the arena lights and soon enough, his opponent would land atop of him and pulled his leg in for a cover. The next thing he heard was the referee starting his count. He wanted to kick out, shove her off as she did to him when she kicked out but his body wouldn't listen to his brain. Instead, he just allowed the younger wrestler to pin him as the referee went "2.......3!!" *DING*DING*DING.
And that was it, the first fall was over. Valerie had been all over him in the last five minutes and her advantage let to her securing her pinfall victory over him. Now all that remained for her was submission and KO, while Ryu had to play catch up.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
One. Two. Three. First fall, done.
Valerie released Ryu from the pin and sat up, using the moment to catch a well-deserved breather. Ryu was definitely giving her a harder time than before, but at least some of that could be chalked up to him clearly being more driven, having seemingly bet his long, storied history on this match. A part of her hated to come down so hard on a man in his waning years.
But he had asked for this, and she wouldn’t insult him with anything less than her level best. He’d asked for it, he would get it.
Valerie went to the nearest corner and leaned against the pads while she caught her breath, waiting for the referee’s signal to kick things off again. She looked over Ryu’s way and nodded. ”Are you still good to go?”

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
The first fall was over, the time on the clock was 15:00 minutes. That meant there was around 45 minutes left. That meant there was plenty of time for the veteran to make a comeback but there was just one problem- he was completely gassed out. It took twenty minutes for him to find his limit, but he had to push on. He could not live with himself if he was unable to finish this match when he was the one who demanded- no, begged for this match. Not only that, he made Valerie promise him that she would finish this match, no matter what. So he had to push on, there was no way he was going to be remembered as someone who was unable to finish a match against a promising talent.
The referee would help Ryu over to his corner after he had helped him get back up to his feet. The legendary wrestler slumped down to the corner, sitting on his backside while leaning against the middle turnbuckle. He was breathing heavily and seemed sluggish but was annoyed at his opponent for even asking him that question. He ignored her entirely, wanting to get back up to continue but the referee seemed hell bent on stalling the restart.
The timer had started and the match technically was back on, the crowd started to grow impatient and jeer as the referee was delaying the restart more than they should. "Tch, get out of my way. I dont need an official's pity" he said to him as he shrugged the referee aside. Ryu would gingerly walk over towards the center, hands out in front of him as he crouched low, ready to start the next round.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
Hm. Valerie had a feeling he would take that question as a slight.
She was no psychologist, but you didn’t have to be Alyssa Crowley to know a prideful man when you saw one, and Ryu fit that description perfectly. Though he had only taken one fall, and there was still time to turn things around, he knew this was already going far away from what he’d intended when the challenge was made. An hour of wrestling was a long time. An eternity. It was a tall ask for her, and she was young and in her prime. Would he even have made it all the way?
It was a legitimate question, one he had to ask himself, and she doubted he would like an honest answer.
Whatever the case, he was up and back at it in short order, looking ready to rumble. Valerie took a moment to reach behind her head and adjust her ponytail, then leaned forward with a nod. If he was ready, she was ready.
She began to circle again, moving with a little more pep in her step than last time, showing her confidence. She had only taken a few steps before she moved in again, going low this time - she reached out and tried to grab his leg, hoping to pull it out from under him and force him to trip.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
It was obvious that he was frustrated, more so at himself than anyone else at this point. The referee was just doing their job and Valerie was doing what any competitor would be doing- trying to win the match. Shaking his head to try and get himself to focus on the match, he would give the signal that he was ready for the match to continue. In his mind, the only thing that mattered right now was powering through the pain and exhaustion- he had to complete this match no matter what. Consequences be dammed.
The two circled each other, ready to wrestle and Valerie would lunge in to go low, grabbing his leg. Ryu would hold his ground and stay upright, looking to quickly lean over Valerie's back and wrap his arms around her waist as he tried to slowly lower himself down and bring Valerie down with him. If he managed to do so, he would quickly release her waist and spring around behind her, looking to catch her in a full nelson hold while pressing her face down to the mat while he was on her back.
It was obvious he was trying to slow the pace down, utilize some mat wrestling skills because right now he was too gassed out to try his earlier approach of hard hitting slams.

Re: Ryu Hiroshi vs Valley Doll III (Part 2)- Beyond Total Victory
Getting into her opponent’s head was a key part of Valerie’s strategy - maybe one that didn’t always work out for her, sure, but one she aimed for, nonetheless. With Ryu, it was a bit of an easier ask than for most wrestlers. The two of them had similar styles, were mat-focused wrestlers, so there wasn’t much he could surprise her with, and vice versa. If she wanted to know what he would do in any given situation, all she had to do was think about what she would do.
In this case, he countered her best, putting his weight down on her as she came from below and forcing her to the mat. From there, he managed a slick transition, coming around her back and securing a full nelson. A good, natural combo.
But he was close, and she could feel his labored breathing. This was taking a toll, one that he might not be able to pay. She needed to keep pressing him.
His hold was solid, but that didn’t mean she was out of options. First, Valerie planted her foot on the canvas and pushed up, forcing him to stand along with her. Once they were up all the way, she droved back hard, attempting to smash him up against the turnbuckle, ramming him in the corner to try and make him loosen the hold.
