Allison sighed, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel rhythmically to the beats of a catchy number playing in the radio of her car. Her chocolate-brown eyes looked up at the front to see countless vehicles lining up bumper-to-bumper behind each other with no signs of a clearing. This year had been hotter than normal and the onset of winter happened later as compared previous years. Though it wasn't as chilly as one would expect of an evening in December, it was cold nonetheless. The raven-haired woman was snug in her four-wheeler with the windows rolled up and just biding her time till the inevitable clearing happened... or atleast she hoped that way.
Her patience started to wear thin, evident with the now frustrated tappings against it, and even the orange hues on the horizon, the warm rays from the setting sun , which induced a sense of peace and tranquility in general, weren't helping and neither did the aroma of delicacies wafting around. It was the holiday season and Allison, having had a splendid year was on a mission to see it out on a high and thus, sightseeing and gorging along those illuminated avenues was on the agenda, or actually, THE agenda.
The traffic seemed to have something to say about it though. Even if there was movement, it did not last for more than a couple of steps and Allison resorted to reclining her seat sharply and folding arms behind the heat, idly pushing on the accelerator sporadically to cover the meagre ground on offer and humming in annoyance along the way. Pulling down her window, the raven-haired woman shuddered from the sudden invasion of the frigid air and was about to slide it back up, when the vehicle nearby caught her eye. Specifically, it was a bike and more precisely, the woman atop was the one who stood out vividly. She didn't know her personally, but because of the profession they shared and figuring it might be quite sometime before normal service resumes, might as well have a conversation, she thought and leaned against the door, resting her forearm over the base of the window frame.
"Some traffic, yeah? Deeefinitely spreading the holiday cheer..." Allison spoke looking at the woman, her quip sarcastic; before veering away staring into the traffic at nothing in particular...
