Show Me Your Moves (Feat. America and Jaegu Song)

"You're shittin' me." America heard her mother admonishing her about her language as soon as the words left her mouth, which she wouldn't really watch around most, but in the presence of older folks -- apparently..."Kiddin' me. Ain't no way you're his mom!"

When she saw Matthaious's form while he was pounding away at the heavy bag...and then his punching form, America knew that she had to go and shoot her shot. Fine as hell, built like a superhero, got a name that sounds like something right out of folklore, and he's a boxer? Sounds like a great start to something in her book.

So she made her approach, introduced herself, and started testing the waters. Talked some shop, went over approaches and philosophy. They both liked to do their business up close, but he had a more pragmatic MMA-based game, while she liked to style on fools. She was a second away from inviting him to the ring that stood in the middle of the gym, not put off in the slightest by the size difference. Quite the opposite, actually.

Which of their styles was the best?

And then this woman who is apparently ageless showed up with two bottles of Gatorade in tow. The big ones. When she called him Matt instead of Matthaious, she had the feeling that she was in another one of those situations where she happened to be flirting with a guy who already has a woman. And then he said, "Thanks, mom."

She doesn't look a day older than them. What is she, one of those vampires who were signed recently?

Lady Constantine -- or Bethany, as she introduced her self -- smiled at her incredulousness. It was a reaction that she's gotten time and time again, but it's never any less a welcome treat for her ego.

"I shit you not."

"So what, you one of those vampires, or sumpin'?"

"Vampires?" Bethany asked with a laugh. "No, hun. Just a combination of fabulous genetics and lots of exercise."

Uh-uh. She must've had him young.

"Well..." Bethany took a look between the two of them. Something in her eye told of her connecting dots. "Don't mind me."

"Oh, it ain't like that." Not if his mom's gonna be around. "It was just cool to see anotha boxa in the gym."

"Likewise."

Bethany still walked away. Gave them some space. But that still put a wrench in things. For now. Soon after his mother left,

dressed in a short-sleeved crop top and figure hugging shorts would make an approach next. "Excuse me." Yeah, excuse her, indeed. This chick turned her blue eyes to her, acknowledging her presence for all of a second before returning her attention to Matthaious. Her vibe was all coy and shit, but America recognized these subtle "bitch, step aside" moves when she saw them. "I saw you practicing, and I was wondering if you could help me. You see, I'm new here. Really new -- I just got signed into the Young Lioness program..."

America gave her shoulders a shrug and left the spot herself. She's only been in this game for four years, but it was long enough for her to know better than to fight over a man that isn't hers. But she'd be keeping an eye on him, in case he was just looking for some horizontal cardio.

Back to it for now. She jumped some rope, spent some time working a speedbag, laid into another heavy bag, and had just gotten started on a set with some weights when she spotted a lean Korean man coming through. And when he caught her eye, he kept it. This dude was another boxer. She didn't know what he was doing as a wrestler, though, and judging from what she saw of his first match, neither did he. He was gentlemanly to a fault; never fought a woman before, she could tell. It gave him a certain charm, though. Reminded her of a guy she worked with back in the Foundation Wrestling Society. He was Asian too, although Yer was Hmong.

Not the most socially well-adjusted dude, but he was a good one. And a lot of fun after he'd gotten some help linking up with the dog he had in him.

Ooh, yeah. Now Yer was a man who could indulge the one vice she has.

She watched Jaegu as he worked the heavy bag. The same one she'd loosed some combos on some minutes ago. He's good. Good enough that she had to go over there and see what the kid's got, really.

"Yo! That's some good form you got."

At first, Jaegu saw LAW as quick money. Get a match, win or lose, get paid, proceed to look for Ingui, then rinse and repeat. However, after a few interactions with Momoi, Jaegu decided that he would take LAW seriously. He didn't really want to hurt people, so he was not a fan any kind of combat, but if he wanted to have a roof over his head in japan and continue doing what he came here to do, LAW was by far the best, arguably the only choice he had. That mindset bit him in the ass in his debut match. He was generally outmatched, but his mindset was a cherry on top.
Momoi did help him shift his mindset to a bit more aggressive one, maybe just enough to not willingly leave himself wide open against an opponent. maybe.

Jaegu was on his own, in a gym, working on what he was decent at - throwing hard fists and an occasional kick. Aggressive sounds of impact against the bag would echo through the gym as he would combo the bag before finishing it off with a slashing kick, making the bag wobble in the air. That was when Jaegu heard someone to call out to someone. It got his attention because it seemed like the sound was directed at him.
Hmm?
Jaegu looked towards the source and saw a strong looking woman, looking in his direction. He was a random nobody, so he didn't think it was meant for him at first, so he looked to the left and to the right to see who might this be meant for, but saw no one that he could be mistaken for, so he turned back at the tan woman.
Who? Me? He would ask, pointing a finger at himself with a bit confused expression on his face. Heh, well thanks, but uhm... He would rub the back of his head with a nervous smile. Nowhere near good enough from my experience...

He suddenly felt a little embarrassed. ''Was she watching me? Why?'' He started feeling that he would come across another aspect that he was not aware of and was not prepared for, but he didn't know what it was and it made him nervous. ''Maybe she recognised me from my debut match or something? I hope not...''
Jaegu had no idea what to do now. She was staring at him, he didn't feel like he could just turn around and continue, it felt awkward, but he had no idea what to say either. He wanted to know why she would start talking to him, but didn't know how to say it.
So, uhm...

A kickboxer, eh? Nice. Dutch style, if America had to hazard a guess. That's what the hands are saying. And bro's certainly got them: He had that bag booming. It wasn't the best work she's seen in regards to technique, but her uncle once advised her that when a skinny dude puts in the work to hit like that, he tends to go places. And the man's devoted enough years to the sweet science to know his stuff -- he's never steered her wrong. She's seen it a few times herself, including with the case he'd pointed out.

Dude's real modest too. Was looking around himself and everything, assuming he wasn't the one being spoken to. That was a first; she didn't think anyone actually did that in real life. She pointed a finger at him, coinciding with when he pointed one at himself.

"Eh, you'll get there. Jaegu Song, right? I'm America." She extended a hand towards him. "Caught your debut. It's always cool to anotha boxa in the wrestlin' game."

Mhm, yeah. Uhm... Why do you know my..? Oh... "Oh no... She saw my debut..." Jaegu thought as he suddenly got embarrassed, his face blushed, avoiding eye contact.
He was expecting some trash talk, bullying or whatever, but instead, he saw this woman extending a hand to him.
After a moment of hesitation, the Korean boy would shake the hand of the woman who went by the name of...
America..? "There is no way this is her real name..." Is... Is that your ring name, or an Alias or something..?

America simply stood there, waiting past the point where others might have taken Jaegu's reticence for disrespect. She got it, though: When you're coming off of performances like the one he had against Momoi, you're going to have Billy and Betty Badasses coming around looking to try you. Starting shit so they can feel like they live up to the name.

"America..? Is... Is that your ring name, or an Alias or something..?"

She shook her head before answering, "America Valerie Figueroa Chapman. My mother's Boricua, straight outta Puerto Rico; came to the States lookin' for a betta life. The American Dream n' all that. She saw that dream in my pops." She stepped over to the bag and took a few quick shots at it. Nothing big. "He wasn't no immigrant, but he came from the streets too. Grew up with nothin'. He was real good with his hands, though. So good, he was able to leave the street life after takin' up boxin'. Hearin' what he was able to do, it uh...it put the love she had for America in cement, you know I'm sayin'? Solidified it. So when she learned that she was pregnant with me, well...The rest is history, you know I'm sayin'?"

America would take a few more shots at the bag, throwing in a roundhouse kick at the the end for the hell of it. Kicks weren't her strong suit, however, and it would show in the way she threw it. She didn't mind, though. "Mind if I join you?"

Re: Show Me Your Moves (Feat. America and Jaegu Song)

The hot woman's name was a mouthful, so it made sense that she used only one of those. Still, Jaegu was confused why she chose the America one. Jaegu had a deadpan expression on his face as the woman went giving her entire backstory, up to the birth. At first Jaegu was confused, but then it made sense, kind of...

Oh... I see now... But, uhm... Wouldn't Valerie be better instead? I'm sorry, it's none of my business... Jaegu suddenly felt that he shouldn't go about telling people how they should call themselves.
At the same time, he was also looking at the woman having a go at the bag and he just found the whole thing attractive. The way her muscles hardened and moved... It was cool, but also hot and there was a lot of impact behind her strikes. It was a humbling experience - Jaegu was constantly meeting women that were either better or stronger than him, or both...
Without realizing, his cheeks reddened a little.
Ah, sure!
Jaegu then went behind the bag in order to hold it in place.
Well, heh... I don't have that kind of story for my parents... Jaegu would speak while America would work on the bag. My dad died from an illness when i was young and my mother left me and my two little sibling immediately after... I had to care for myself and for them... Jaegu's face would tilt downwards as he would visualize his painful memories. He wasn't sure why he even said this.

"You're good. I agree with you; I like Valerie betta myself, but America stands out."

Through her periphery, she was able to see Jaegu admiring her form. Can't blame the dude; it's one hell of a form. She shot him a knowing smirk when he moved to hold the bag. He was a bit too red in the face to try to hide it now. "Thanks." She got back to work, maintaining a listening ear while she threw more combinations. Her confident smile disappeared and was swiftly replaced with a look of concern after hearing about his situation.

No wonder he was banging away at this thing so hard.

"Damn." What else was there to say about that? She stopped and held the bag for him to use instead. "So that's what brought you here?" A question with an obvious answer, but it was an opening for him to say more, if he wanted to.

As Jaegu opened up for no apparent reason, he could feel the energy transferred through the bag from America's blows, the vibrations and the pushback was something else. The woman did look big and strong, after all.
Jaegu felt like fate or god was pulling a prank on him - from the moment he joined Wild's high and onwards, he was always surrounded by women who could kick his ass.

America then stopped with her rounds.
You have a lot of power. Jaegu said calmly, as if it was an objective observation from a coach or something.
It took a second for the Korean to realize that it was his turn to have a go on the bag now.
No. He replied before he opened up with a one-two. That's not the reason why I came to Japan or join LAW... Jaegu continued as he threw a couple of strong haymakers, recalling why he came here. I came to Japan in order to... He stopped himself after one more punch. He wasn't sure if it was a good idea to tell her that. What would she think of that? What would she think of him. Jaegu felt a bit embarrassed to say it and the thought just hung in the air right now.

"Thanks, coach." He sounded like he was sizing her up to join his gym. She had to make a quick remark. "You ain't so bad 'chaself. You had this bag hollerin', and it ain't even got a mouf. You know your science." Practiced his punches a thousand times each, so to say. That was the real power.

No? Shows what she knew. Time to shut up and just listen, then.

But Jaegu stopped himself just before he gave his reason. And America had the feeling that she might know why. "To get you a girl?" It's what she'd be in it for if she were a dude. Not like there's much else for them to do: They've only got one belt, and most events bar them from competing. Doesn't make any sense, but it is what it is.
